"Come on, James." Pepper said to her five year old godson.

The small red haired boy hurried over to his Aunt Pepper with a large smile on his face and was hugged lovingly.

"I get to have you all day today." Pepper exclaimed with a smile.

"Me too." Clint stated. "Today, we're gonna do whatever you want."

"Park. I want to go to the park." James declared.

"The park it is." Pepper said. "How about we take a picnic? That sound good?"

"Yeah, yeah." James answered.

"Good. Let's go get the cooler packed." she said.

Clint quickly grabbed a medium sized blue cooler the Avengers kept in the kitchen that was mostly used for times they were able to go out in public in disguse to try to have a normal day.

Today, the archer was getting his promised day off and he was strictly not to be called unless it was a matter of life and death. He and Pepper had planned this day for nearly two weeks.

They were both always so busy and didn't get to spend that much time with James that it didn't seem fair to any of them.

Even though Steve and Natasha don't want James spoiled, the two godparent's felt that it was their duty to spoil James and give him anything he wanted. They got to on his birthday and Christmas without getting the wrath of his parent's but the rest of the year was so boring in terms of spoiling the child.

With the cooler fully packed and everyone ready for a day out, the three made their way out of the tower and to a park that the Avengers sponsered as a families and guardians only location. The park was surrounded by an iron fence with security cameras and security personel on regular rotation.

Since this park had been formed, the percentage of child abduction had dropped quiet a bit.

Upon reaching the park, Clint and Pepper showed their ID's and proof of guardianship to James. The guard let them right in and the three began to look for the reserved gazebo for the Avengers.

They found it with no trouble and set their things down.

"Want to eat first or play?" Clint asked.

"Play." James answered.

The archer took James' hand and took him over to the play ground close by. Pepper took this chance to take her camera out and start taking as many pictures as she could.

She got many shots of James and Clint going down the different slides and on the swings. Soon the two returned with growling stomach's.

The three sat to a peaceful lunch.

"Make sure you eat your apple slices." Pepper said.

"Ok." James said and right away ate one of the slices of fruit. Clint watched as James looked around and saw other kids his age with their families having lunch, playing or relaxing.

Steve and Natasha brought James to this park about twice a month. They would usually stay for a few hours with both of them playing with him but they always seemed to be looking out for danger.

Always on the look out for someone who might be dumb enough to try to take James. The thought alone caused the two to keep their family outings limited. They were always out long enough for James to be satisfied but they were never out too long to be noticed by others.

Their time at the park was soon over and they were now heading to the next destination James wanted to visit. A local toy store.

The moment Pepper entered the store with Clint and James, she knew that they were going to walk out with their arms full of toys and would later hear about it from the soldier and spy.

"Check that out." Clint said as they stood in front of a child sized ferris wheel. "Want to ride it, kiddo?"

James shook his head which made the archer smirk. Even though he's Captain America's son, the young boy was not a fan of heights. Just like his father when not in his alter ego.

Instead, James led the way to regular toys. His blue eyes caught sight of action figures of his parent's and the rest of the Avengers. The child didn't know his parent's true identities but he knew that they were important people. He already has action figures of the six heroes but hasn't connected the dots yet.

"You already have a set, buddy." Clint said as he lead James to another section.

Several hours later, Steve and Natasha entered the common floor and went to the kitchen. The second they saw the sight before them, they froze on the spot.

"Oh...Hey guys." Clint greeted slowly and Pepper stood still at the counter with her hands holding a bowl of crushed nuts.

The two Avengers had their eyes on their son who sat at the table with Clint and a bowl holding ice cream covered in chocolate syrup before him. The child ate another spoonful before greeting his parent's with a chocolate covered smile.

"Hi momma. Hi daddy."

"Hello, sweetheart." Natasha greeted. "James, go clean up. You have chocolate all over you."

The five year old nodded and went to the closest bathroom.

"What in the world..."

"Now, Nat." Clint said with his hands raised in defence. "You know how the two of us get when we have James all to ourselves."

"He does not neeed to eat all of that ice cream!" the mother stated.

"I was helping him with it." Clint offered.

"What else happened today?" Steve asked.

"Well, we went to the park." Pepper said.

"What else?" Natasha asked but the answer came from her son instead of the two adults.

"Mommy. Daddy. Come look at all of the toys Uncle Clint and Aunt Pepper got me."

Natasha and Steve gave the two guardians a look that said they would continue this talk later.

James pulled the two toward his bedroom and this allowed Clint and Pepper to sit at the table and wait for the soldier and spy to return.

"Well, I think our next day alone with James won't be until his high school graduation." Clint said before taking a bite of the sundae.

"I think so too." Pepper agreed. "But it was still great getting to spoil him today."

"Yeah, it's worth whatever wrath Natasha and Steve are going to hand us." Clint agreed.
