It was the day after Halloween, and Harry was sitting in his Uncle's office.
"Uncle Serv… are you okay?"
"No, I got bit by the dog on the third floor." "So it's a dog guarding the thing" Harry smiled.
Snape gave a look of..perhaps distaste. "I can't tell you too much, Dumbledore will get suspicious if you don't do things his way. Just be weary around Quirrell."
**** Later that Day ***
'Coral, I am worried about this'. Snape looked at his wife sitting in his office. It was late at night and she was visiting for a few hours. She half smiled.
'I am too. What is he doing. I taught he had changed' Snape looked confused. 'Why does he want the stone?".
"I am guessing because that's what Dumbledore wants to have happen. Why he never went after Flamel before he asked Dumbledore to guard it is completely unknown and ridiculous, but Dumbledore seems to expect the Dark Lord's plan revolve around Harry."
Lilly laughed at that. "Dumbledore always has very convoluted plans to us.. But he is thinking years ahead. He clearly has his reasons."
"The Dark Lord is just going along with the script that Dumbledore has written for now. That's all I know." Snape looked down. "I of course would never tell Dumbledore that."
"It is getting late, I should head back out." Snape slowly walked Coral back to the gates of Hogwarts, and she appeared in the House of Black. There was no reason to ever be alone. Dumbledore could not be trusted.
******* Dumbledore's Office *******
'What is your plan Albus' Minerva looked at Dumbledore concerned. 'If it is true, it could change everything.'
Dumbledore looked at the head of house with his grandfather smile, a small chuckle and said 'Dear Minerva there is no reason Lilly Potter would hide herself from us. Coral Black cannot be her.'
'But Peeves told me explicitly he was listening into Snape and Her's conversation.'
Dumbledore looked at her with twinkling eyes and continued to smile. 'It is Peeves Minerva, there is no reason to believe anything that Poltergeist says. Minerva smiled, "Oh you're right, maybe I am just being hopeful. Would be a miracle if she was actually alive all this time.
With that She left the office and Dumbledore's eyes flashed there greedy glance. Lilly could not still be alive. It would really damage his plan. It would mean that no one in his supposed inner circle completely trusted him. No, they were simply protecting her from Voldemort.
Dumbledore chuckled. How could he not have realized this before. He was always suspicious of the woman. it all fit. Snape's devotion to her, despite his love for Lilly still being there. Her random appearance and staying in the life of Harry Potter. Lilly's body never being found. But Dumbledore couldn't help but chuckle at all of this. They knew… at the very least Snape, Lilly and Voldemort did. This could prove to be very interesting. Voldemort could physically only know of the description of the child. There is no more he could possible be aware of.
Voldemort made that mark, be it intentional or not, so Dumbledore's plans could continue. Yes, he would act as if he didn't know anything. Everything would solve itself later, He would play dumb until the right moment, and when they least expected it, everyone who knew the truth would have to die. Harry was the key to stopping Voldemort, and Dumbledore would not let a mother stop him from accomplishing his goals.
*** Two Weeks Later ****
'Two days is the first Quidditch match of the season Harry. Are you Nervous" Ron said this at the table early one morning, before Transfiguration.
Harry shrugged "Not really, I have been flying my whole life." Draco laughed "And his broom isn't exactly cheap. A Nimbus costs quite a bit, although it's almost nothing to the ancient families.'
Ron looked kind of insulted at the, low key jab against his wealth. The Weasley's have never been an extremely rich family, except some rich hag named Marge. Of course Harry wasn't willing to say much about that in front of Ronald.
'So Harry let's head to class, Draco is taking to long to eat and you know how Mcgonagall gets when people are late to her class'. Ron gave a curious smile.
Harry was thinking what was going on in the kids head. He wasn't stupid. Ron was saying everything that happened around the group to Percy Weasley, who was either giving it to Mcgonagall or Dumbledore. Didn't really matter which because it still got to Dumbledore. While Ron wasn't aware of Harry's personal distaste for Dumbledore, Draco and Blaise where sometimes too careless so Ron was well aware of how he felt about the headmaster. Although his eyes would light with fury, he wouldn't actually defend the headmaster.
As the pair walked to the classroom, on the third floor, suddenly the staircases started moving.
'We should keep going. I am sure we can get back on track.' Ron Smiled at Harry. Knowingly. Harry simply couldn't hold back a small laugh. If it wasn't for Uncle Serv, he wouldn't know what he was about to see. Clearly Dumbledore taught he wasn't that bright and needed everything handed to him. We'll he will play along and walk right up to the dog.
What Harry did not expect was the three heads, his uncle had not mentioned that. Ron was acting all surprised, however, Harry noticed he was a horrid actor. So the three headed dog was guarding this thing for Nicholas Flamel.
He questioned Damien extensively about what the object was, but he claimed to not know. He was harder to read so Harry wasn't particularly sure , but his gut said he was being honest. The kid claimed to have overheard a conversation between Dumbledore and Mcgonagall (of course Harry assumed this was planned by Dumbledore then.)
Hermione and Damien began extensive research of the last two weeks, and were keeping Harry, somewhat posted, or at least Damien was. Despite the flack he got from other Slytherins, the boy had no problem with the brainiac, despite the fact that Harry found her determination to prove herself somewhat off putting. He still had no real issue with the girl, but she didn't need to be involved in this, he didn't want to risk her life.
'Mister Potter' Harry was quickly snapped out of his inner-monologue by the shrill voice of his transfiguration professor. 'Yes Professor'
She glared at him. 'Pay attention in my class . You don't need to be spacing out'. Instantly the usual snicker of Dudley came from behind, much to Harry's annoyance.
***** Saturday ****
'Today is the day Harry." Harry smiled at his cousin. He was so excited for the Quidditch match. It had been so long since he got to play Quidditch and he was pretty pumped for the chance to play again. Of course that was before he knew all the drama that would be happening during the quidditch game.
Harry's broom was jinxed during the game. Although Hermione claimed it was Snape, she mentioned accidentally knocking over Quirrell while trying to set fire on Snape's robes, which of course to Harry, he was instantly clued in that it was Quirrell. He sat in Hagrid's hut and let Ron and Hermione 'convince' him to be wary of Snape, and Hagrid predictably let slip Nicholas Flamel, was Dumbledore really convinced he was this far behind. Ron gave a shocked look because he actually was that far behind, but Himself and Hermione just acted, as because of Damien they already knew.
******* December 3rd *****
A little more time later and they were still trying to find the secret of Flamel. Damien seemed a little depressed by this, as he expected to figure out the mystery pretty fast. One good thing is because, his brother spent the majority of his time outside of the common room with Hermione, Verik was very lax. He barely monitored him, which made figuring out the mystery even easier.
But there time was limited as the teachers were rushing to finish the term, end of term exams were fast approaching. On top of that Harry had taken to, monitoring Quirrell as much as possible. He has assumed the man was a Death Eater and asked Draco's dad about him. He hoped Lucius wouldn't say anything to his Uncle, but Lucius responded with Quirrell is a cowardly light wizard.
Harry was worried though. He had been told from a young age the dark lord was still alive. Somewhere. Could he want revenge on Harry. Harry would personally love revenge on the Dark Lord as much as Dumbledore. In his opinion they were both horrible murders.
*************December 19th**************
Exams passed, everyone did well, and they were on the last night before leaving, when Damien let out a shriek in the Library. Madam Pince shrieked back, yelling at the small group to be quiet. Damien slowly began whispering about finding it. The Sorcerer's Stone. Eternal life, any metal into pure gold. A very powerful object, created by none other than Nicholas Flamel. It clearly fit, and there is a multiple of reasons why Quirrell would want such a powerful object.
'Damien, where was that book.' He shrugged. 'I was randomly assigned the book for that project in History of Magic, for that break paper remember.'
Harry did remember that. They were all assigned a certain book. Clearly Dumbledore trusted this kid to have that , no he was the kid of a Death Eater, there is so no reason Dumbledore would trust him. It still hurt his head.
'Don't think on it too much Harry.' Harry was beginning to go nuts again. How did this kid seem to know everything that was going on in his head. Maybe he was a Legilimens. Harry didn't really have the energy to constantly keep up Occlumency shields to deal with this kid, but if he was working for Dumbledore someone would have to know.
************** December 20th ************
Harry sat in the Kitchen of the House of Black. Having only arrived about an hour ago. His Aunt and Uncle were already there.
'So Uncle Serv, what's up with him.' If anyone would know that kid's deal it was Serv.
His Uncle gave him a strange look. Sighed. Then began to speak. ' It's that book of his. The blank one, you have taught it was odd before. It's connected to, something, but it seems to know a lot of things going on. My bet is, he is talking to Voldemort, unknowingly. Just from what his memories show when i have pricked into his mind, it's the same way he talks but the kid, is pretty anti- voldemort so i don't think it's knowingly.'
Harry was shocked for a moment. So that was where the kid got his endless supply of knowledge. The book.
'Don't even think about it' Snape gave him a stern look. 'He has no Occlumency skills whatsoever and we need no reason for Dumbledore to focus in on changes in his mind. Leave the book where it is, Dumbledore is letting it stay put, you need to as well.'
'Why would I want to talk to Voldemort, he is a monster' Harry looked at his uncle. Again he sighed, and Coral gave a nervous fidget. 'Don't worry about him Harry' Coral looked directly at Harry. 'He has no reason to come after me'
Harry looked at her Ludicrously. 'But, I am the reason he lost power, why wouldn't he want to come after me.' She stared into his eyes… 'I.. I can't tell you that… you will no one day.'
'Are you a death eater?'
Coral was taken aback. Is that what her son really taught of him. How could she blame him. 'No I am not.'
Harry sighed here. 'He killed my parents.I will never forgive him. I will never trust him. I hate him even more then Dumbledore.'
Snape and Coral looked at each other. Coral shook her head and gave his uncle the sternest look ever. Sirius then walked down into the kitchen, waved his wand and began the meal. The conversation abruptly ended.
**** Christmas *****
Like every year the rag tag team went to Malfoy Manor for the Holidays. It was very enjoyable to spend the day with just Draco and Blaise. Harry used there first real chance alone to catch the group up on the hijanks of the last few months that he could not tell them around Ronald.
'So you are keeping us out of the fun Harry. I am soooo hurt' Blaise laughed at the very thought of Harry choosing Ron over him.
'I am just doing what Dumbledore wants.' Harry shrugged.
'The sooner we are rid of Weasel and Granger the better' Draco muttered.
Harry glared 'Hermione is my friend Draco. Damien isn't that bad, just quiet.'
Draco laughed. 'That kid is terrible. He is so awkward to be around, he almost never talks.' Harry began to tell them what Snape had told them, and how they can't even take the book.
'Sounds just like him to keep us all locked up' Draco went back and forth in his head. Talking to his friends.. This was nice… But in a few days he would be going back to hogwarts, and everyone's plans will be wrapping up. Harry was tired of playing it stupid. But what could he do. He had to wait, and wait for what was pre-destined.
He sat there, as he opened his gifts, from Coral and Snape, Sirius and Lupin, Damien, Draco, Blaise, The Weasleys, Hermione, Theodore, Crabbe and Goyle, and a mysterious Invisibility Cloak, clearly from Dumbledore despite him trying to be cryptic. He soaked it all in, and wondered what was next, where was this battle going to take him.
What is this! So i kind of stumbled upon this old thing that I completely forgot about, edited the old chapters a tinsy bit and boom here we are (giggle)! This Chapter is an absolute trainwreck of information overload, especially since it's very stream of consciousness from Harry, but It simply fits the #plot. I am sure this can be expanded on but, it's moving things in the direction I need :P!
