James watched from a distance as his father handed his mother a large boquet of roses. He watched her smile in happiness and then turned to hug the soldier greatly. After it, she took in the scent of the flowers before noticing one of the buds was closed.
She lighty pulled back the petals and gasped when she pulled out a diamond heart pendant on a silver chain. She then pracitcally jumped onto Steve as she hugged him again.
The fifteen year old smiled at his parent's before heading to his room. Although he got a lot of great advice from his father about how to treat women but that still didn't calm his nerves about the dance he was going to tonight.
Tonight was the big Valentine's Day dance at his school. Not having had the courage to ask any girl to the dance, despite all of the obvious hints and love letters, he decided to go stag and see what came out of it.
"James, look at what your father gave me." Natasha announced as she walked through the open door.
"That's great, mom. How many diamond necklaces does this make now?"
"Oh, you." Natasha chuckled. "So, have you picked out what you're going to wear for the dance?"
"Not yet." James answered. "Did dad have any problems like this?"
"Well, he never went to any dances before he took his big nap but when he took me to dances, he dressed very nicely. He wore dress pants, a white button up shirt and a vest the color of the theme."
With that thought, James spotted a red dress vest he wore to his Uncle Clint marriage. His new Aunt Bobbi had the wedding themed something after birds since her SHIELD codename is Mockingbird and his Uncle Clint is Hawkeye.
Everyone was dressed in different colored dresses and vests. For some reason, he had saved his.
"That will go great with the Valentine theme." Natasha said and plucked a rose from the boquet she held. She cut the stem in half and carefully placed it in the front pocket of the vest.
For the next two hours, James prepared himself by getting dressed and by trying to calm his nerves. His uncles, Tony and Clint mostly, had taught him dances that even he was sure weren't for people his age.
Luckily, his parent's showed him how to couple's dance.
Said parent's came right at five thirty to check on their son before he left for the dance.
"Oh, James. You look so handsome." Natasha mused as she looked over her son.
"Do I look alright?" James asked a bit shyly.
"You look great." Steve answered, then caught a familiar scent. "Is that the same cologne I wear?"
"Is that ok? I wanted to smell nice." James asked.
"Of course it's ok. The ladies like a man who smells nice." Steve answered.
"It's true." Natasha confirmed. "We like smart muscle men who know how to stay clean and smell nice."
"Does it matter if they can't dance?"
"I feel in love with your father knowing he didn't know how to dance." Natasha answered. "No, it shouldn't matter. But it all depends on the girl."
"This is one of those times I should be careful about what people want, isn't it?"
"Yes, it is." Steve answered. "James, this could be one of those chances that a girl will want to get in a realtionship with you just because it seems like the perfect timing when all she really wants is what your heritage can offer."
"Fame and fortune. I got that." James said with a nod. "Maybe I shouldn't go."
"No. James, you've been looking forward to this dance and you don't ever go out that much because of what our family is. You need to enjoy your young and care free years." Natasha insisted.
"Ok." James said.
"Have fun tonight, son." Steve said. "But not the kind your uncles have."
"I won't. I still remember what happened that Thanksgiving two years ago."
"Good. Be careful and call us when you're ready to come home or if something doesn't seem right." Natasha said.
"I will."

Around eleven thirty, Steve and Natasha were snuggled together on the couch of their living room watching a romance movie.
Neither one was really paying attention as they were too caught up with just being with each other on the day of love.
Natasha wore her new necklace proudly and it made Steve smile knowing she loved her gift.
"Mr. and Mrs. Rogers. Your son has returned and is on his way up to the floor." Jarvis announced.
"Thank you, Jarvis." Steve said as the two got up and went to the elevator. They reached it just as it stopped and the doors opened.
Their teen son walked out and the two noticed he looked a little flustered.
"Have fun?" Natasha asked.
"I did." James answered. "I danced a few times and talked to a few girls."
"That's good." Steve mused.
"Did any of them try to be...frisky?" Natasha asked.
"Mom." James groaned, his cheeks turning bright red and he rushed off to his room.
"Too much?" Natasha asked her husband innocently.
Steve chuckled.
"I think just a little." he answered.
