Chapter 34 - Nightcall
Beastboy rolled over.
"Mmmhhhhh..."
He screwed up his eyes and dug his head back down into his pillow, trying to force himself back into the comfort of the dreamworld. He'd been having the most delicious sleep.
Dimly, he sensed a presence nearby. Someone was close.
Strangely, instead of inspiring the nervousness and surprise one would expect, the sleepy hero only experienced a wash of contentment and warmth come over him at the realization. Like a sun-soaked blanket had fallen gently on his shoulders. Everything was fine. Better than fine.
With a small smile, he slid closer to the presence, eyes still closed in quiet, half-asleep satisfaction. His nose twitched in appreciation at the scent surrounding him.
He tenderly met the familiar female form. The two bodies pressed smoothly against one another, bare skin brushing back and forth in intimate harmony. His senses shivered in delight.
Beastboy nuzzled reverently into the chest of the figure, head tucked neatly under her chin.
His heart sang at the bliss of her breasts gently moving over his chest as her arms fell naturally around him, holding him closer to her.
Completeness.
Wholeness.
Safety.
He felt his heart slow in his chest. Tension flowed from his body to hers and was expelled down from them both into the feather soft bed.
He bought his arms around her, pulling her ever closer together, even as she intertwined her legs with his.
He could feel the solid beat of her heart throbbing through him.
Freedom met security and bloomed in Beastboy's being as the sensation of utter peacefulness fell upon him.
No fear.
No sorrow.
No worry.
Just him and her.
Together.
He wanted to thank her. To show his appreciation. To bless her for bestowing this beautiful feeling upon him. To show her what she meant to him.
Serenely, Beastboy moved his head from the crux of her neck, feeling up her smooth neck with his nose and lips. They trailed along the captivating skin, taking in the exquisite scent that was his and his alone.
He traced the sharp line of her jaw down to her chin, delighting in the closeness, the comfort, the tranquillity, and unity.
Her soft body shook in quiet laughter and Beastboy smiled as he rejoiced in the heavenly friction.
He dragged his nose up the bottom of her face, tracing over every bump and incline, before climbing the swell of her lower lip.
A faint breath tickled him as she exhaled and he struggled not to move faster.
Instead, he took his time, trying to map ever dip and line of her mouth before moving ever closer up.
Their lips hovered over each other, the two sharing the very breath in their lungs with one another.
Then she spoke and his heart broke.
"Welcome home, Love."
Beastboy cracked his eyes open, wanting to see the face of his beloved mate.
An empty slab of metal filled his vision.
He was alone in his cube.
The peace inside him burst into tendrils of emotion his heart fervently tried to grasp. But to no avail.
The beautiful fullness inside him withered and wilted. The cold of the cell seeped into his bones.
Soon, only a deadness remained.
Beastboy stared at the wall.
Time passed.
The alarm at his beside suddenly broke the oppressing silence and Beastboy's empty eyes finally moved.
Unblinking, Beastboy raised a lethargic hand and dropped it on the device, silencing it.
He found his gaze on his hand. He looked on silently at the long fingers. Tracked the curve of the claws on the fingertips. Examined the color of the skin and fur. Glanced over the marring scars.
Watched the shaking.
And revulsion stirred in his stomach.
With a shake he threw himself out of bed, heart aching and looking forward to the pain of the day.
Only to find a bottomless void of darkness below him. Into which he fell, a scream tearing from his throat.
Beastboy's eyes snapped open as his own scream woke him up.
He gasped wildly, eyes frantic and heart smashing in his chest.
Where was he? What was that smell? What the hell? Was he standing or lying? Why couldn't he understand anything?
He was in a jungle.
Wait, no he wasn't. Jungles didn't have floors. Or massive domed ceilings.
Or such incredible smells.
Beastboy's eyes rolled in their sockets as a mind-numbing, heavenly scent cascaded into his mouth and nose. His whole body relaxed and his head went slack with divine ecstasy. All panic and rational thought fled his mind at the influx of sheer bliss.
'Is this what heroin is like?' he wondered as the bewitching essence caressed his brain.
His head moved by itself, following the intoxicating fragrance's strength. He leaned forward to follow it.
"Ahhhh!"
A cruel whip of pain cut through the haze in his head and he blinked, suddenly sobered. What the hell had caused that?!
"Holy shit!"
He was, in fact, standing, though not entirely under his own power.
Vines. Vines everywhere. Poisonous green vines wrapped tightly around his body and bit into his flesh. And not just biting…
Beastboy's stomach clenched and he struggled not to vomit or scream at the sight.
They were inside him.
Tiny cuts in his skin were the entry ways for the plants. Like needles or tubes at the infirmary, the vines were inserted into his forearms, legs, abdomen- Oh God he could even feel some in his neck! Blood pooled at some of the entrances he had unintentionally disturbed.
Okay no problem, just shift.
"GAHHHHHH!" The piercing howl reverberated off of the ceiling while being absorbed by the vast and thick vegetation around him.
Beastboy sagged down, the plants painfully holding him up. He breathed deeply, eyes screaming as he sucked in lungfuls of air. He could feel rivulets of blood running down his body with a tickling sensation. Damn. That wasn't going to work.
"Careful now, that looked like it stung."
He froze.
The sultry, steamy voice seemed to stroke his ears and squeeze into his head. It had a strange, melodic, lilting tone that calmed his nerves but set his teeth on edge and his hair standing on end.
'This is bad.'
He looked up and his mouth went dry.
'…Holy shit…'
It was a woman.
A woman with forest green skin.
Beautiful, pale, lush, gorgeously green skin.
And popping out of that green was the most vivid red he had ever seen.
Long, curly, bright crimson hair framed her sharp face, highlighting the slightly different shade of full red lips that quirked up in a Mona Lisa smile.
And the eyes.
Deep, dark emerald eyes framed with the blackest of lashes appraised him while they sparkled in amusement. And…interest?
She stepped forward and suddenly Beastboy became aware of more than her face.
Small, thin vines ran tenderly up her long legs. From her bare feet, they hugged her calves, tiny leaves standing out randomly. Up her abundant thighs they climbed, until they thickened into a collection of vegetation that only just functioned as underwear.
He tried to swallow. Couldn't.
Smaller vines continued up over her wide hips and narrow waist before disappearing into a barely-there, maroon shirt that only just managed to conceal her full chest. His eyes fixed on the two small buttons keeping the strained fabric in place.
His eyes were diverted when she shook a loose strand of hair from her face, highlighting the slender, angular neck. Beastly barely noticed the cloud of simmering spores that the action released from her mane of hair.
Then she was in front of him, bending at the waist slightly to look him in the eye.
And her eyes captured his.
"Well hello there handsome."
Her layered voice caressed him again and the last of the fear and panic evaporated in his brain. Instead, a deep, intense heat lit up inside him.
She reached out and traced the back of one finger down his cheek.
"Who might you be?'
The woman asked, glowing eyes inches from his.
Beastboy just stared, higher brain functions unavailable through the smothering fog in his head. Heat flowed through him, lighting up his nerves, heightening his senses. Colors seemed brighter, time slower and heat hotter.
She slowly cracked a smile, showing white teeth.
Every so gently, she pressed up on the bottom of his chin with a finger, shutting his mouth with a soft click.
"You're just too cute."
She lazily stood back to her full height.
"However," she breathed, turning around.
Beastboy's gaze involuntarily latched onto her plump, curvy backside, tantalizingly concealed with nothing but a few leaves and the hem of her shirt.
"I would like to speak with you a moment…"
She took a step forward, hips swinging wildly to the side and Beastboy couldn't help but follow her like a dog on a leash.
"Ahh!"
He yelled out as the vines pulled him back tugging on his very veins and innards. He couldn't help but collapse again as the pain overwhelmed him.
He faintly made out a musical laughter and raised his head to see the woman looking over her shoulder, smiling blissfully at him.
"Before you die."
Really excited about finally getting this out.
This event has been a main part of the plot for a long while and it's taken forever to get here. Really happy with how it's turned out and I hope you guys will enjoy it as well.
