"Alright boys, we have a big game today." Coach Wilson announced. "First game of the season. All your hard work is going to be put to that test. Your parent's are here today. Make them proud."

James cast his eyes out toward the bleechers and searched the slowly growing crowd. Over the week, he'd been asking his parent's if they would be able to make it to his very first game.

Both had claimed that they were going to do everything in their power to be there and watch every second of his game.

But he didn't see either one in the crowd. This cuased him to frown slightly but he quickly shook it off.

His parent's always kept the promises they made to him. Maybe they were stuck in traffic like his Uncle Tony always seemed to be when he had to go to a meetting. Even though the meetings always took place in the tower they lived in .

The announcer's voice echoed through the speakers as the team players began to take their positions.

Right now, ten year old James was third in line to bat.

The first in line grabbed the offered bat and went out.

Even though he knew he should be paying attention to the game, James' eyes kept darting to the stands every so often. Hoping to see his mother and father.

The next player went up to bat and James was starting to feel dissappointed and betrayed. His parent's always kept their promises.

Was this going to be the first broken promise?

"James, you're up to bat."

The young red head lightly frowned as he grabbed the bat and took his place at the base.

Before the pitch was made, James looked over to the crowd again and, this time, spotted two faces that hadn't been there before.

"James!"

James smiled as his disguised mother called out to him and his disguised father gave him a thumbs up.

Turning back to the game, James was suddenly filled with a new fire to show his mother and father everything he had learned.

"We're so proud of you, sweetheart." Natasha exclaimed as the family of three made their way to the limo that Tony had sent for them.

James was sitting on his father's shoulders and was questioning if they saw this and that.

"What took you guys so long to get here?" James asked.

"Uncle Nick was being a crybaby." Natasha answered and this caused James to laugh.

"Sorry we worried you, buddy." Steve said as the limo and Happy came into view.

"I almost thought you wouldn't make it." James admitted.

"I'm sorry, baby. We tried to get here as early as we could." Natasha said as she held her son's hand.

"We promise that we'll be early for the rest of your games." Steve vowed.

"I don't care if you're early. As long as you're there." James said.

"You're such a trooper." Natasha said. "But we're still going to try to be there early for the rest of the season."

James smiled at his parent's.

He had feared that today would be their first broken promise but it turned out that he had nothing to fear.
