Chapter 414
.
Finding people in the Arks proved difficult. There were some good points. Eve's old friend Jenny, from highschool, had made it with her son, John. John would be two years old very soon. Colonel Park, Eve's former prison warden, was chosen. Maybe Amy was right, Park had been auditioning for the Arks, it seemed he was successful. Wells, the captain of the sector guards, was in an Ark, along with his wife. Perhaps most suprising, president Freddy Douglas was chosen, even became president of his Ark. Rumor was he had helped Mason defeat Gardner's coup. Mason felt these Arks needed a firm hand, but was unwilling to do it himself. Still no word on Eve's daughter Hope. Most likely her adoptive parents gave her a new name. If they didn't "Hope" became a popular name recently. There was always the possibility that harm came to that Ark bus. But until Eve got confirmation, she would always pray for her daughter's safety.
By mid-August Adam and Eve had settled into a routine. They slept in the same bed, at different times. Each slept for eight hours alone, four hours working or talking with the other, then eight hours awake alone working in the greenhouse and/or communicating with the Arks, finally another four hours with the other. This allowed one awake to make repairs when needed, or communicate with the Arks. And it made sure they didn't get too lonely. And mr Picard had left DVDs and books to keep Adam and Eve entertained. They were getting along, somehow they remembered the good stuff, not their causes. Although they were suppossed to be enemies, it helped talking with someone who'd lost friends in the war. Eve had gotten used to this house. It wasn't too bad. Claustrophobia, boredom, would become problems, but they coul adapt. They had to, because it seemed they would never leave this place.
