Disclaimer, well you know by now.
Dorothy and Alex share some worried glances for a moment. As the ground trembled Em knelt down next to the triplets. As the trembling began to get louder and larger the room began so shake completely. Then just as suddenly as it started, it stopped.
"Dorothy gale!" Came the voice of the jester.
Dorothy looked at Alex and sighed. Locasta then ran into the room.
"Glinda." She said as ran in.
"We know." Glinda said.
Dorothy looked at them and sighed. She then ran out of the chambers and out to the field by the docks. As she got out there she found the image of the jester floating in the sky. Dorothy looked at him, now irritated.
"Feeling better?" The jester asked chuckling.
"Yes but that's beside the point, what was that you created, an earthquake?" Dorothy asked as Glinda, Locasta, Alex, Aislynn and Ellie joined her.
"Oh, no nothing ever so straightforward, earthquakes are too easy, I have something bigger planned right now." He said taking out his wand and twirling it like a baton.
"Like what?" Alex asked walking up next to Dorothy ready to draw his sword.
"Like how she's going to be captured next, you see, I went and found myself an ally, one that would work for me." The jester said
"And who might we ask is this ally?" Locasta asked curiously.
"OH you may have heard of her, or at least her husband." The jester said smiling
Glinda looked at her cousin for a minute, they then shared a worried glance as the ground shook again. Suddenly the jester flicked his wand and a thick mist appeared around them. Immediately Dorothy felt what seemed to be a large hand close around her and lift her up. Dorothy screamed loudly as the figure began to appear out of the mist that was now surrounding them. The figure of a giant women wearing a silver dress finally made its appearance through the mist as it cleared. Alex and Ellie were completely speechless at this point while Aislynn was standing behind Glinda. Locasta looked about ready to throw a spell the giantess but Glinda held her back.
"What if she drops her, what are we going to do then?" Glinda asked looking at her cousin.
"Now, do you know who this is?" The Jester asked teasingly.
"There aren't that many giants in the Land of Oz, how we should know!?" Locasta asked shouting angrily at him.
"Well then, allow me to explain, this is Mrs. Yoop, the Giantess, you may have heard of her husband, since a few years ago in ,your domain, her husband, Mr. Yoop was captured by ,Your people, and put in a cage, just because he would knock over a house or two every time he left his castle." The jester said
"I had no idea of my people's actions!" Locasta shouted.
"Be that as it may your people still did it, and now I've used her to capture Dorothy." He said flicking the wand.
Immediately both Dorothy and the giantess vanished. The jester than appeared in front of them.
"You bring her back!" Ellie and Alex shouted in unison.
"OH don't worry about her, she shall not be harmed, changed, or injured in any way, this is just a diversion for something bigger I have planned, you see, Mrs. Yoop agreed to do my bidding on two conditions, one that I find a way to get her husband released from that cage out in the mountains, and two I get her young daughter someone to use as a playmate, you see, Mrs. Yoop has a daughter who she never allows to leave Yoop castle." The jester explained.
"Well a family of giants would cause a lot of fear." Aislynn said now a bit shaken.
"Exactly, you see, I wanted an ally I could bend to my will, and using bribery such as getting her husband freed so their family could be whole again was just the start." The jester looking at all of them.
"But will you actually try to free her husband?" Glinda asked curiously.
"Oh of course, what kind of enemy to you guys would I be if I held back on my word to my allies?" The jester asked chuckling.
Everyone shared glances for a moment before shrugging. They then looked at the jester angrily now realizing this was meant as a distraction.
"Can you guarantee us her safety though?" Alex asked drawing his sword.
"Yes, he can." Glinda said before she fainted.
"Aha, so that's how I can get that to work on you guys." The jester said chuckling.
"What did you do?" Ellie asked running over to her sister.
"Oh, nothing, just sent her a little mental message, has the same effect on her as it does to Dorothy when done right, she'll wake up with a throbbing headache in due time." The jester said laughing wickedly and vanishing.
Meanwhile inside Yoop castle.
As Dorothy and Mrs. Yoop appeared inside Yoop castle, Dorothy found herself both amazed and frightened. The castle was giant, everything in it, was giant. The giant women looked at the small girl in her hand and gently set her down on the kitchen table. Dorothy quickly backed away and stole a quick glance at the scepter. It was now dark, but at least this time she had it with her and she hadn't dropped it out of shock.
"So, you're the hero that everyone talks about?" The woman asked in a sweet, yet somewhat rough voice.
"If you mean, 'am I really Dorothy gale?' then yes." Dorothy shouted.
"There's no need to shout dear I can hear you just fine." The giantess said.
"Mother!" came a loud female voice.
"What is it Emma?" Mrs. Yoop called out.
"What's for lunch!?" She shouted.
"Boiled eggs dear!" Mrs. Yoop said.
"Okay." Came the voice of the girl as she ran into the room.
Dorothy leaned against the scepter so she could keep her balance as the room shook. The daughter of the giantess was about maybe a quarter of her mother's height only coming up to her mother's knees. She hugged her mother and smiled. The girl's hair was dark brown and tied up in pigtails. She had a pretty looking face with freckled cheeks. She was wearing a crimson dress in a style similar to her mothers. Eventually her eyes did fall upon Dorothy and she looked at her for a moment, now curious about this stranger who was in their castle.
"Hello." Dorothy said weakly.
"Hi, mother, who, who is this?" The giant girl asked curiously as she walked over to the table and climbed up onto a chair.
"This Emma, is Dorothy gale." The jester said appearing next to Dorothy.
"What?" Emma asked slightly confused.
"She will be your friend and playmate, albeit rather unwillingly I promised her friends her safe return eventually so this is not a permanent arrangement." The jester said smiling.
"Ooh, a little friend? Wait mother, I though we weren't supposed to trust people from the outside, because they took daddy." Emma said now really confused
"Emma, there are some people you can trust and many you can't, there are things I shall explain to you when you are much older." Mrs. Yoop replied.
"You know, as much as I don't agree with this I'm stuck here aren't I?" Dorothy asked curiously.
"Until I decide otherwise." The jester said chuckling and vanishing.
"I really hate him." Dorothy said sitting down on the table.
"Strange isn't though, the fact that word around Oz is he wants to destroy you, yet he never does." Mrs. Yoop said.
"But she's a great role model." Emma said holding out her hand for Dorothy to climb onto.
"Can I trust you?" Dorothy asked worriedly.
"Of course, I've always wanted a friend." Emma said.
"Well, as long as you don't try to eat I or anything like giants in story books." Dorothy said chuckling and climbing on to the girls hand.
"We're giants, not witches." Emma said giggling and smiling.
"Why don't you show Dorothy your play things, I'll get lunch ready for you two." Mrs. Yoop suggested.
"Okay mommy." Emma said carefully climbing off her chair and carrying Dorothy out of what she could now assume was the kitchen.
They walked along for about a minute before they got to a large door which Emma pushed open. As they got in there Dorothy noticed a huge doll house, and small wooden peg dolls scattered about it. Emma brought her over and set her down in the bedroom of the doll house.
"These are most of my toys, the other toy of mine is molly dolly, she's the ragdoll on my bed." Emma said walking over the bed and picking up a beautifully made ragdoll.
The doll had two blue button eyes and a smiled of crimson thread, the dolls dress looked similar to one she had seen in a shop window when she was a child. The dolls hair was made of red hair and the arms and legs were made of what looked like large pieces of felt.
"Why do you call her molly dolly?" Dorothy asked as Emma brought the doll over.
"Because it rhymes and I like it." Emma said smiling.
"ah." Dorothy said leaning the scepter against the bedpost of the bed behind her.
"Is that the scepter?" Emma asked setting the doll down next to the doll house.
"The one the jester once used and now is mine, yes it is, but it doesn't seem to work here, that I chalk up to the jester." Dorothy said.
"Would you like a piece of chalk? I have some if you'd like." Emma asked.
"No thank you, it's a figure of speech." Dorothy said sitting down with her legs dangling over the edge of the dollhouse floor.
"I know, but chalk can be fun when it's one of the only things you have to keep yourself amused." Emma said
"So you don't have any friends?" Dorothy asked curiously.
"Aside from my toys, no." Emma said.
"Are giants uncommon in Oz?" Dorothy asked curiously.
"Technically, yes, there is one other family of giants but they live on the other side of Oz, the lady of the family sends letters to my mother every once and a while, you see, we as giants are misunderstood, because our large size we apparently cause houses to fall over and the ground to shake." Emma said picking up Dorothy.
"Where are we going?" Dorothy asked curiously.
"The bathroom, I have to be up before lunch and so do you." Emma said as they walked out of the room and across the hall.
The bathroom was just as large as the rest of the castle. There was a giant bathtub that was maybe the size of a large lake. It seemed like it would take days to fill it but Dorothy figured they probably had a way to do it. Immediately Emma stepped up on a wooden footstool and set Dorothy down on this sink counter and waved her hand over the tap. Immediately warm water began pouring into the basin.
"You have magic?" Dorothy asked surprised.
"In a way yes, but our magic has its limitations." Emma said placing in the drain plug.
Dorothy could feel the warm steam from the water rising up in front of her. It wasn't too hot which she knew meant the water was at least lukewarm. Emma dipped her hand into the rapidly filling basin.
"How is it?" Dorothy asked curiously.
"Warm." She replied as the water stopped filling the basin.
Dorothy knelt down at the edge of the sink and dipped her own hand in the water. It was indeed warm, but not too warm. She smiled and washed her hands in the water. She then wiped them from her dress.
"Oh, yes, I should tell you, be careful with mother try to be kind, and tolerant, mother can be a bit irritable." Emma said washing her own hands.
"So she gets angry easily?" Dorothy asked curiously.
"Oh you don't want to know the half of it." Emma said drying her hands on a large towel and picking up Dorothy before walking out of the bathroom.
So far i've added Mrs. Yoop and given her a family instead of making her alone I gave her a daughter. For one reason or another I decided that Mrs. Yoop is one of the more underrated and misunderstood Oz characters from Baum's books. Being giants and all. However I will not make her as much as snoot as she is in the books. I use snoot because she does things when she gets bored in the books and is easily cross. I wont give too much of the book version of her away in the even that you decide to read it. it's L. Frank Baum's, The tin woodsman of Oz. and that is where the credit for her character comes from.
