There had been a theory circulating, a very cynical theory, after 2/4,the two asteroid theory. This theory said that this asteroid would wipe out humanity, the Arks would fail. All humanity's languages, culture, art, literature, all would be wiped out. At best, some would become fossils. When the next species evolved, they might study humanity's fossils. Eventually another asteroid would come, wipe them out. Then humanity wouldn't even be fossils, they'd be nothing. There was a time when Eve would've believed this. But knowing that Hope was alive, she had to believe that the Arks would work. That perhaps this sorry species would survive, even if it didn't deserve to. Despite everything, Eve still prayed that this world would survive.
During the month of September 2036 Adam and Eve told each other their stories. Eve talked about Jamal, how he died trying to free Amanda's slaves. She talked about Nadia, her guide to islam. How Nadia was murdered. Eve tried and failed to protect Nadia's murderer. Adam talked about Claire. During the selection a few "Chosen" doctors were kidnapped by desperate refugees. They were then forced to serve the village, which was short on doctors. Adam and Claire were among those ordered to rescue these six doctors for the Arks. Five were willing to come, one wanted to stay behind, help the refugees as best he could. Adam tried forcing the doctor to come at gunpoint, but couldn't bring himself to kill him, they let him stay. After they desserted Adam took Claire to what was left of Wildwood. He said Eve wouldn't have recognized the ruins it had become. Claire died on the way to Picard's house, an appendicidice attack. This could've been treated with doctors and sterile equipment, which they didn't have. Adam tried looking up the procedure online. He'd actually been reading about appendice procedures, while operating on Claire. But he failed. It helped both Adam and Eve to have someone to talk to about lost loves.
