Later, at Yoop castle.
Emma had just finished her chores which today was washing the dishes and hanging the laundry in a room that was somehow filled with a light breeze even with the door closed which was the room they both were in. Dorothy didn't bother to question it at this point she just helped Emma pin stuff into place. Now as they left the room they ran into Mrs. Yoop.
"Ah Emma, have you finished your chores, with help from your little playmate?" Mrs. Yoop asked curiously.
"Yes mother." Emma said.
"Yes, Mrs. Yoop." Dorothy said holding onto Emma's shoulder.
"Good, you are to return to your room now, I don't care what you two do from there, but you must get some sleep, also, Dorothy gale, I made you something, don't be to grateful I do my best." She replied holding up what looked like a nightgown about Dorothy's size.
Emma took it from her mother and handed it to Dorothy. The nightgown was simple and seemed to be made up of the same material her nightgowns in the emerald city was made from. Which she was pretty sure was silk.
"I'm not going to be over grateful, I am, however, going to be thankful that you're being nice to me." Dorothy said.
"You're welcome." Mrs. Yoop said sounding a little annoyed as she walked away.
Dorothy looked at the nightdress she was holding. It was rather plain but it was it was well put together as well. As they made their way back to Emma's room Dorothy held tightly to Emma's shoulder. When they arrived at Emma's room Emma set Dorothy down in the doll house and walked over to a giant wardrobe that Dorothy hadn't noticed before. She then opened it and went through several dresses and pulled out two nightgowns. One was pink and the other was baby blue.
"Which do you think?" Emma asked curiously.
"Blue." Dorothy said turning her back.
"I was thinking the same thing." Emma said putting the pink dress back.
"Are you going to change in here?" Dorothy asked curiously.
"Um, not, I'm going to go to the bathroom quickly, you can change to if you'd like." Emma said.
"Yes, well, if you're going to leave I'm going to stay in here and change." Dorothy said.
"That's what I meant." Emma said walking out.
Dorothy grabbed onto the bed and once more knocked over the scepter. As the trembling faded Dorothy quickly changed into her new nightgown. As she removed her normal dress and set it on the dollhouse table her reading glasses and a potion bottle fell out of the pockets.
"Ellie." Dorothy said to herself as she was sliding the nightgown over her head.
As she finished putting on the nightgown and picking up her dropped things she felt the ground tremble. She leaned on the bedpost and waited for Emma to walk back into the room. As Emma walked in she set her red dress on her bed and walked over to Dorothy.
"I think that makes you look cute." Emma said smiling.
"Thanks, um, you wouldn't happen to have a giant mirror would you?" Dorothy asked curiously.
"In one of my desk drawers, yes, why?" Emma asked curiously.
Dorothy opened her mouth to say something just as the door to Emma's bedroom slammed shut. Dorothy stumbled as a large breeze blew through the room with the door slamming.
"So, it's nightfall then?" Dorothy asked as Emma set out a hand for Dorothy to climb on.
"Yep." Emma said as they walked over the desk.
"Okay, um, I still need a mirror of some sort, I think I might be able to introduce you to some of my other friends." Dorothy said holding up the potion bottle.
"What's that?" Emma asked setting Dorothy down and adjusting the magnifying glass over her.
"It's a potion, which um, allows me to contact my friends through a mirror." Dorothy said.
"Okay." Emma said going into the desk and pulling out a gigantic hand mirror.
Emma set down the mirror leaning it against the back of the desk. Dorothy smiled and uncorked the bottle. She had no idea if this would work on a huge mirror but it was worth a shot. She splashed the potion onto the mirrors surface. After a few seconds of nothing happening Dorothy sighed in defeat. However it was then that the mirrors surface began to ripple. It wasn't long before the image of Alex and Glinda appeared in the mirror. When they noticed Dorothy and Emma Alex immediately ran up to the mirror and stared. From her end they looked huge, she wondered how they looked from her point of view.
"Dorothy?" Alex asked curiously.
"Yes?" Dorothy replied.
"Two questions, one, how, and two, what are you wearing?" Alex asked curiously.
"Well, one, I think Ellie slipped some potion bottles into my dress and two Mrs. Yoop made me a nightgown." Dorothy said.
"Ah, nice, why are you looking up?" Alex asked curiously.
"Um, well you're using a smaller mirror than I am." Dorothy said.
"Ah, well nice to know there's no scaling issue between mirrors." Glinda said.
"Except you guys look huge on my end." Dorothy said.
"Are these some of your friends?" Emma asked curiously.
"Who's with you?" Alex asked curiously.
"Oh right, Emma, this is Alex and Glinda." Dorothy said as Emma moved her head down so she could see into the mirror.
"Hi." Emma said waving.
"Hello." Alex and Glinda said in unison.
"Alex, Glinda, this is Emma, she's Mrs. Yoop's daughter, I'm currently supposed to be keeping her company." Dorothy said.
"We'll you're alright then?" Alex asked worriedly.
"I'm fine dear, don't worry about me." Dorothy said placing her hand on the mirror.
"Dorothy, be careful." Alex and Glinda said in unison.
"Wow, your friends are really worried about you." Emma said.
"Of course we are, we care about her." Alex said placing his own hand on the mirror.
"Alex." Dorothy said as the mirror began to ripple.
"Dorothy, like we said, be careful, don't get yourself into trouble." Glinda said.
"I'll do my best." Dorothy said.
"Dorothy?" Alex asked quickly.
"Yes Alex?" Dorothy replied.
Alex opened his mouth to say something just as the mirror faded back to the normal image. Dorothy sighed and leaned against the mirror.
"What do you think he wanted to say?" Emma asked curiously.
"Probably something along the lines of 'I love you' or 'please, be careful'." Dorothy said as tears formed in her eyes.
"He really cares about you then?" Emma asked curiously.
"Yes, yes he does, and I care about him." Dorothy said as a tear rolled down her cheek.
"Are you crying? Please don't cry." Emma said worriedly.
"Sorry, sorry, sometimes, I just can't control it." Dorothy said wiping her eyes.
Emma sighed and pulled out a giant handkerchief. Setting it down on the desk she allowed Dorothy to use it to wipe her eyes. Dorothy sniffed and sat down on the desk. Emma pulled out her chair and sat down on it.
"What is it like to have friends?" Emma asked curiously.
"What?" Dorothy asked looking up at the girl.
"What is it like to have friends?" Emma asked again.
"it's great some times, other times it isn't easy, sometimes they try to help you and make things worse, but a good friend will stand by your side no matter how bad things get, just like my friends always will." Dorothy said.
"That sounds nice." Emma said smiling.
"Most of the time it is." Dorothy said sighing.
Meanwhile at the emerald city.
After Dorothy had contacted them Alex had retreated to his room. Now sitting on his bed, sword by his side. He wept, he wept bitterly. He didn't like Dorothy being held in captivity. He was glad Dorothy wasn't here to see this, she would be rather upset to see him weeping.
"So, how are you?" The jester asked appearing on his desk.
"Go away or I'll strike you down." Alex said looking at him.
"Geez, don't be so hostile, she's alright isn't she?" The jester asked getting off the desk.
"So? She's not here." Alex said.
"So what? Oh, right, you two lovebirds don't like being separated.
"Shut it!" Alex shouted as Glinda ran in.
"Look, before any of you do anything right now, hear me out." The jester said.
"We'll listen, talk quickly." Alex said holding up his hand to stop Glinda.
"Look, I wanted to use the Yoop's as my allies because they could be easily bribed, however, one thing I didn't know was that they had a daughter who has never left the walls of their giant castle, I felt sorry for her and decided Dorothy might make a good temporary companion." The jester said as Alex cut him off.
"So you had her captured and brought there?" Alex asked.
"Correct, I told Mrs. Yoop that I would get her husband freed and get Emma a temporary playmate, she agreed to help me because her daughter seemed lonely and miserable, but I made her give me her word that Dorothy would in no way be harmed, however Dorothy did whack her head on the bed of a giant dollhouse earlier, but I did fix that up, she is still fed and taken care of as you've seen." The jester said.
"Leave." Alex said in an irritated tone.
The Jester chuckled and vanished. Alex sighed and laid back on his bed. Glinda smiled weakly and left Alex's room. She then ran into Ellie, or so to speak Ellie ran into her quite literally. Both Ellie and Glinda fell on their backsides. As Glinda chuckled and got up she helped her sister as well and dusted her off.
"Glinda, I heard him, where is he?" Ellie asked worriedly.
"He's already gone sis, nice to see you out of your room, I didn't know you were scared of giants though" Glinda said.
"I never thought it would have to come up." Ellie said.
"Ah, come, let's go to my room and talk about it." Glinda said leading her sister off.
Meanwhile in library
Scarecrow and Aislynn had been in the library for a while now. Neither of them had said a word since they got there. Scarecrow had been watching Aislynn as she went from shelf to shelf picking out books to read. Aislynn had yet to notice this as she was engrossed in looking for books. When Aislynn had picked out a good number of relatively short books she walked over to the chairs and sat down. Scarecrow smiled and walked over to the chairs and sat in the chair next to her and watched her read. He was distracted by her looks and how cute she looked just sitting there reading that Aislynn did eventually notice
"Scarecrow?" Aislynn asked looking up from her book.
"Yes Aislynn?" Scarecrow replied in a bit of a daze.
"Why are you staring at me?" She asked curiously.
"What? Was I?" Scarecrow asked snapping out of whatever trance he was in.
"Yes, you were." Came the voice of the china princess walking over to them.
"Good evening China princess." Aislynn said.
"Good evening ace, scarecrow." The china princess said nodding to them respectively.
"How are you this evening?" Scarecrow asked curiously.
"I'm fine, luckily the shaking caused by Mrs. Yoop didn't cause me any harm, Marshal is helping repair any damages that it may have caused to the city however." The china princess said.
"Ah, that's good." Aislynn and scarecrow said in unison.
"Ace, why don't you take your books to your room, I have something that I want to discuss with the scarecrow." The china princess said.
Aislynn looked at the china princess for a second. Then she looked at the scarecrow and got up. Taking some of the books with her she walked out of the library and shut the door behind her.
"So, you have a crush on Ace?" the china princess asked giggling.
"Is it obvious?" scarecrow asked curiously.
"I was watching in the doorway, it was pretty obvious." She replied.
"China princess, remember when I backed into you while we were outside the library a while back?" Scarecrow asked curiously.
"Yes, why?" She asked curiously.
"I heard her singing while she was reading, she has a beautiful singing voice, I think, and I think I've fallen in love." Scarecrow said smiling a bit embarrassed.
"What about Dorothy though?" china princess asked curiously.
"She has Alex, and they are perfect together, I however have finally found someone who truly and utterly deserves my heart." Scarecrow said.
"That's extremely heartfelt." The china princess said smiling
"I know, but she must not find out, imagine what that would do to her." Scarecrow said,
Though unknown to scarecrow and the china princess, Aislynn had decided not to go back to her room. She had let the door open a crack so that it wouldn't be noticeable and was listening in. she was touched to know that the scarecrow had feelings for her. But she had no idea how she would return those feelings. She giggled and then ran away from the library, books in hand.
