Glinda was now extremely worried at this point. Her main goal was to keep the triplets safe and keep them from getting sick. Locasta had sent Elena to keep an eye on them to make sure they didn't get sick. However if the temperature kept dropping the way it was there would be nothing they could do to help it. She was now sitting in the throne going through her books, trying to find a way to counteract all of this without use of her magic. She couldn't deny she was desperate at this point and that was a fact.

"Why are you even trying? You know it's hopeless." Glinda said to herself.

Her fury at the jester was beginning to get worse. She felt a burning anger towards him and was now really, really cross. She wanted to contact Dorothy and let her know about the current situation, but she knew it would just cause more problems. It was then that scarecrow and Aislynn ran into the chambers and into scarecrow's back workshop. Glinda and Locasta, now both curious went after them to see what was going on. When they entered the workshop they found scarecrow pulling out several schematics of the city's layout.

"There is a furnace, somewhere underneath the city, I don't go anywhere near it for, obvious reasons, but it's connected to the palace and will keep the rooms a moderate temperature." Scarecrow said continuing to look through schematics.

"I thought someone was supposed to keep shoveling coal into it non-stop in the winter." Locasta said looking at him.

"Someone is, but you gave the order for everyone to get inside and get sheltered for the storm, Aha!" scarecrow said as he set down a schematic with large orange circle in the middle.

"Why do we even have a furnace in the city in the first place?" Aislynn asked curiously.

"According to several people, your grandfather had it built so that the palace and most of the city could stay warm in the event of an emergency." Scarecrow said pointing to some orange writing at the bottom of the schematic.

"Well, where is it?" Aislynn and Glinda asked in unison.

"I know exactly where it is." Scarecrow said grabbing the schematic and running out.

Aislynn looked at Glinda and Locasta for a moment, they then all shrugged and ran after him. They followed him to the door that led to the storage cellar where all the scrap that scarecrow used for his inventions was kept. He then picked up the lantern on the shelf next to the door and handed and the box of matches to Aislynn. She smiled and lit the lantern which she then attempted to hand back to him. He pushed it away and then opened the door. Scarecrow then led them all through the cellar and to a really large iron door. The scarecrow sighed and tried to pull it open. He struggled for a few moments before Aislynn, Glinda and Locasta tried to help. The door however appeared to somehow be frozen shut.

"Well, it was worth a shot." Scarecrow and Aislynn said in unison.

"Yes, it was a pretty nice idea, but there's no way to thaw the door without the furnace already being lit or fire." Locasta replied.

"But what about the triplets?" Glinda asked curiously.

"Well, hopefully the storm will resolve itself soon and the jester will lift his curse soon." Locasta said.

"But they'll fall ill if the temperature keeps dropping like this, and you know it." Glinda said.

"I know, but, but, oh sweet Oz." Locasta said as they started back for the stairs.

"Couldn't we thaw the door using the lantern?" Aislynn asked curiously.

"Ace, that's a good Idea and all, but with a door so large it would take several hours to thaw it." Scarecrow replied.

"Well, it was a suggestion, I didn't factor in the size of the door." Aislynn said

"It was a good suggestion, but by the time we managed to get the door thawed enough to open it the temperature would have already dropped considerably more." Glinda and scarecrow said in unison.

"Sweet Oz I didn't realize how much I hate people saying the same thing at the same time." Locasta said as they got to the stairs.

"Sorry Locasta." Glinda said as they made their way up the stairs.

When they all reached the top of the stairs Glinda shut the door and went on her way to her bedroom. She took off with a run when she knew she was a good distance away from the others. When she arrived at her bedroom she shut her door and locked it with her key. She had to come up with a plan of her own. She knew she had to find a way to contact Dorothy, she was aware of that much. She wasn't sure if the potion bottles worked in this temperature or even worked at all with both places having no access to magic. She rummaged through her things for a good hour with no luck. She then remembered that she had given most of her potion bottles to Ellie and Alex in case of an emergency. She assumed by now Ellie had tried to contact Dorothy, and Alex was probably too busy trying to keep Dorothy from taking any rash actions to stop the jester. She sighed and checked on her bookshelf where she found a potion bottle wedged behind some books. She smiled and uncorked it, splashing it on her small standing mirror. Nothing happened at all. She waited and eventually the potion vanished.

"The jester definitely knew what she was doing." Glinda whispered to herself.

She then sighed and sat down at her desk. She had no idea what she could do at this point. She could feel it getting colder in the city and soon it would be too cold for the triplet's health. She began to worry and began to wonder if this was how Dorothy felt when she thought about all of them being in danger. She was then snapped out of thought by someone knocking on her door.

"Glinda? Are you in there?" Came Ellie's voice.

Glinda sighed and got up. She then walked over to the door and unlocked it. She then opened the door and let Ellie into the room. She was carrying a tray with a steaming hot bowl of soup.

"Ellie, I'm not hungry at the moment, but thanks." Glinda said.

"Glinda you should get something warm in you, the temperature is dropping rapidly." Ellie said walking over to the desk and setting down the tray.

"Tell Brianna and the chefs to make extra soup for the gales." Glinda said walking over to her sister.

Ellie nodded and ran out of the room shutting the door behind her. Glinda then looked over at the clock. Time had really passed by. It was now half passed one in the afternoon. Glinda sighed and sat down and began eating.

Meanwhile in Kansas.

Mr. Foreman had made a pot of soup over the fire using vegetables and few cans of broth he found lying around the house. The wind had picked up outside and inside things were definitely colder. The fire kept most of the living room warm but Dorothy's bedroom, the kitchen, her aunt and uncle's room, and the bathroom were like a freezer on the inside. While everyone else was sitting at the table and eating, Dorothy was sitting at the table and stirring her soup while she looked out the window at the storm. It had been snowing hard and non-stop for several hours and they would have been snowed in had Mr. Foreman, Officer grey and Mr. Alistair didn't go out every now and again to shovel the snow out of the way of the door.

"Dorothy, you should really eat before your soup gets too cold." Alex and Mr. Foreman said in unison.

Dorothy sighed and began eating. The soup was good, though it didn't beat anything her aunt ever made. However, as she ate she began to wonder what they were doing for food. It bothered her that she couldn't help them still. Then something occurred to her. Just as the scepter went dark it shot out an orb of light, why? And what was that orb of light were questions that raced through her head. Now she had an idea, but she wasn't going to tell any of them about it. They wouldn't approve, what she was going to do she had to do once it was dark. Dorothy sighed and continued eating as well as continuing to think about her family and the others.

"Dorothy, I know you're worried but really don't let it get you down." Donna said looking at her.

"Donna, hush, you're not helping." Alex said

"Sorry." Donna replied.

"Alex, you hush as well." Dorothy said.

"Sorry dear." Alex said returning to his soup.

Dorothy sighed and excused herself. She grabbed the scepter from up against the wall and went to her room. Shutting the door and locking the door. She then walked over to her bed and laid down on it. She began to feel a little drowsy and decided a nap would be good. She wrapped her blanket around her and eventually she dozed off.
