Chapter 2: Lois Lane POV

I see it, the sudden change in his eyes. They're filled with so much happiness and joy, but it's so quick to disappear. Some days, they fill with a look of hopelessness, and despair; a true look of sadness takes over. Clark holds this look for hours, sometimes days; he sits alone. He won't talk to me, he says a word. I never imagined that he would push me away. He looks so alone, like he can trust no one.

But what about me? He can trust me, so why won't he trust me? He know's I love him, right? That I would be here for him, for as long as I live? Even if I didn't quite grasp his feelings, at least he wouldn't be so alone. He should know that he always has a home with me; with his mother; here on earth. What does he know of Krypton, the home that he's never seen, smelled, or felt? Earth is his home, and it always will be.

His heart is what makes him human, what makes him apart of this world, rather than some distant alien from another world. His kindness and resilience has shown this planet, has shown me, he belongs here. It was like destiny; like a light in a tragedy.

Clark is Earth's hero… he will always have a home here.
