When Dorothy returned home she had managed to manage things quite well. She was able to somewhat write well with her good hand even though she did better with her right hand. Sunday night she practice some writing left handed. When she arrived at school Monday morning Mr. Alistair had to bring Dorothy to his office with her school work to keep her from being swamped with questions. She was doing a few math problems when Mr. Pryce and Alex came in. Dorothy hadn't actually noticed them coming in as she was doing out some complicated math problem. Alex placed a finger against his mouth to shush Mr. Alistair and Mr. Pryce. He then quietly walked up behind Dorothy and placed his hands over her eyes. Dorothy winced and poked him with her pencil.
"Ouch!" Alex said withdrawing his hand back.
"A little less hard next time then." Dorothy said putting down her pencil and turning to look at him.
"Sorry." Alex said kissing her on the cheek.
"How's the work going?" Mr. Pryce asked curiously.
"It's going relatively well." Dorothy replied bringing the chair over to him and handing him her work.
Mr. Pryce smiled and looked through the papers. Alex walked over to Mr. Pryce and read the papers as well.
"You've got most of them right, you forgot a step on number five though." Mr. Pryce said handing the papers back to her.
Dorothy took the papers and went back to her work. Alex sighed and took the pencil she was using from her. Dorothy chuckled and tried to get it from him but he was holding it just out of reach.
"Come on, take a little break." Alex said.
"Yea, Dorothy, you've earned it, three pages of math, some history questions, it looks like you've even started reading the book I assigned the class." Mr. Pryce said.
"Mr. Pryce I'm two weeks behind and what about Alex, or the others?" Dorothy asked curiously.
"Your friends won't fall behind. And you've done a good job." Mr. Pryce replied.
Dorothy smiled and turned to Alex and then at the clock. It was now nearly lunch time. She had been working on her work since Mr. Pryce had given her the work she missed. Thinking about it for a moment, she decided she could take a little break before lunch. She sighed and put down her papers turned around.
"Alright, you guys win." Dorothy replied.
Alex chuckled and kissed her on the cheek again. Dorothy blushed and took his hand.
"Dorothy, you know what we haven't done in a long time?" Alex asked curiously.
"What?" Dorothy replied.
"Danced together, it's been a long time." Alex said.
"Well, that will be the first we do when I'm able to walk again." Dorothy replied.
Alex smiled and wrapped his arms around her. It was then that the lunch bell rang. Alex smiled and picked up Dorothy's satchel. He helped her get her sandwich unwrapped and then ran back to the classroom to get his own lunch. Mr. Pryce smiled and walked out after Alex. Alex returned a minute or two later with Ellie, Aislynn, and Donna following behind him. As the five of them ate their lunch they chatted about how class had gone after Dorothy left and about how the day was going so far.
"You know, so many people are curious about what happened to you, maybe you should stay home tomorrow, ace and I can bring you your school work and help you with it." Ellie offered.
"Thanks Ellie, but you'd have to talk to auntie Em about it, I'm not sure she'd ever agree." Dorothy replied.
"If things keep up the way they are I'll talk to your aunt and see if we can come up with some sort of arrangement." Mr. Alistair said walking over to her.
"Well, I have a black eye, a broken arm, a broken leg, and a nice gash across my forehead, if people weren't asking questions I'd be slightly concerned." Dorothy said finishing off her sandwich and then purring.
"Not to mention the claws and the purring." Alex said.
"Oh, right, maybe we should talk to Auntie Em and Uncle Henry and see what we can come up with." Dorothy said thinking about it.
"Dorothy, I'll call your aunt and uncle later and see what we can arrange." Mr. Alistair said.
"Thanks Mr. Alistair." Dorothy replied.
"Alex?" Donna asked turning to her cousin.
"Yes donna?" Alex replied.
"Have you heard from Eliza recently?" Donna asked curiously.
"Yes, she'll be spending next week with us, her parents have some business to attend to and Eliza didn't want to go with them." Alex replied.
"Oh, that's nice." Donna replied.
"Yea, you know, Eliza and never really got along, to be honest I'm still not sure whether or not she trusts me completely yet." Alex replied.
"Well it's the same thing with your dad isn't it?" Dorothy asked.
"Exactly." Both Alex and Donna said in unison.
"Fair enough." Dorothy replied.
"How are you feeling?" Aislynn asked curiously.
"I'm feeling alright, a bit sore but I'm fine ace." Dorothy replied.
"That's good." Aislynn replied.
"Lunch will be over soon, come on Donna, and ace you too." Ellie said.
"We'll see you at the end of the day Dorothy, Alex, you coming?" Aislynn asked.
"You guys go on ahead I'll go back in a minute." Alex said.
The three of them nodded and walked out of the office. Alex then turned to Dorothy and gave her a quick kiss. The second lunch bell then rang. Alex looked up at his uncle and he smiled left the room.
"Alex, you should really go, I'll see you at the end of the day." Dorothy said looking up at him.
"Dorothy, I'll leave in a moment, just promise me that you'll take occasional breaks instead of working nonstop." Alex said.
"Alex, I promise I'll a five minute break before the end of the day or something." Dorothy said.
"No, I mean more consistent breaks, don't over work yourself, and don't get yourself stressed out." Alex said pulling out a piece of paper and handing it Dorothy.
Dorothy looked at Alex and sighed. She took the piece of paper and unfolded it. These were the instructions Alex had just given her but written in Glinda's hand writing.
"Why didn't you give this to me earlier?" Dorothy asked curiously.
"Glinda told me to give it to you if you decided to do any of those things." Alex replied kissing her on the cheek again and running out of the office.
Dorothy watched as he left and smiled. She then picked up her pencil and returned to her work.
