Chloe McQueen: Spy Car Chapter 9
At last Chloe and the other car reached Warehouse B. They were both greeted by Prof. Z.
"Well done Patricia, although I didn't expect capturing a protege of Agent Redline THIS easy."
Chloe silently fumed with anger.
"Well, she is a rookie." Patricia smirked.
"Now, my dear, kindly step over to that corner."
Chloe was led to the spot where the lasers trapped Rod last night. Soon she became immobile.
"I didn't expect something THIS cliched from someone like you." Chloe said.
Prof. Z bristled a little bit, then smiled.
"I like the classics, now I suggest you get comfortable while we prepare the final steps to my revenge."
"What revenge?"
"Oh, you'll see." And with that, he and Patricia left Chloe.
"Okay Chloe, don't panic." She said to herself. She remembered from her time at the academy that most lasers can be deflected by a special reflective surface on hubcaps that only available to spies. And as you would have guessed, she had them on.
Chloe quickly set to work, careful not to let the lasers touch her. She laid down, stretching her wheels out so that the hubcaps were facing up. It worked like a charm, but she knew it wouldn't last for long. She set her eyes on a large and heavy box above her, wrapped a grappling hook around it, and quickly pulled herself out of the labyrinth of lasers!
Chloe breathed a sigh of relief and made a hologram of herself inside the lasers. "Right, now to find Rod." Chloe put on stealth mode to match the shadows and immediately called the CHROME Detroit HQ. She was greeted by Chief Router.
"Hey, everything all right?"
"Well..." and Chloe told him everything that happened.
"I see, I was just about to tell you that Prof. Z had escaped. I'll send over more agents ASAP."
"Please and thank you, we're in Warehouse B."
And they both signed off.
Suddenly Chloe heard a strange mmmphing coming from a lighted room. She climbed up to the air vent and squeezed herself in. She crawled into the room and looked down. There she saw several boxes, as well as Prof. Z, Grem, Acer, and Patricia, as well as a bound and gagged Rod.
"Bring the others out, as well as the weapons." Z ordered Acer. Then he looked at Rod.
"This time we will make sure you don't make it out alive."
Rod just rolled his eyes.
"I can't believe you let her kiss you." Patricia said to Grem.
"Hey babe, you know it meant nothing." Grem said.
"All right, but don't do it ever again."
"By the way, how DID you know Redline was alive?"
"Oh, somebody he arrested who had it out for George Lexus for not "appreciating" his ideas."
Rod groaned.
"You know the best part of being in jail?"
"What?"
"Meeting you babe."
Patricia laughed and kissed him. Chloe shuddered in disgust.
"AHEM!" Z coughed loudly. "You can do that later, now we shall celebrate our revenge over those who ruined us! Too bad Axelrod wouldn't join us."
"You know how he loves prison food." Grem said.
Just then Acer came back, wheeling a cart with a squirming white sheet.
"Hey Redline, say hello to your friends."
He pulled off the sheet and, to Chloe's horror, she saw Lightning, Mater, and two other cars. Those must be agents McMissile and Shiftwell, she thought to herself.
"Can you believe it Professor? All we had to do was to kidnap the race car and tow truck, and these two come rushing in!"
"Wonderbar." Z smiled. "Now my revenge begins."
Mater mumbled something through his gag.
"What was that?" Acer said as he pulled Mater's gag off.
"Ow!" Mater yelped. "You won't get away with this!"
"Just try and stop us." Patricia said.
Then Chloe noticed that all four cars were wearing the same devices she and Rod were searching for! That was Zundapp's plan!
Rod was dragged to where the others were and another deadly parking boot was put on him.
"Auf Wiedersehen spies" Zundapp said, and pointed the remote control at them. Suddenly there came a blinding electrical light, and the remote came flying out of his wheel.
"What the...?" Before Zundapp could finish, Chloe jumped on him!
"How did you...?" Patricia said.
Chloe grabbed the remote and drove off, hoping to buy time for the others, and her brother.
"AFTER HER!" Zundapp yelled. "The device will not work without it!"
Grem, Acer, and Patricia ran off after her.
"Don't get too hopeful." Zundapp said to the hostages. "That rookie will never make it."
