Disclaimer: I do not own Skye, Phil Coulson, Melinda May, Grant Ward, or FitzSimmons. I only own the variation I have created off of this very popular idea.
I firstly must thank Neeeeeal who, as the author of Turn Back Time, has done such a very interesting and lovely job on their story I wanted to give my attempt of it a go.
However, because I cannot find B.J. Britt's wiki page or his age, I'm going with Ward. But that's not the only reason. It's because with the Hydra plot, I see no room or logical way for this story to make sense. So... It's AUish. Ward isn't hydra. Yay! Because I really did love Ward.
Warning, MAY include Avengers. I upped the rating for my own comfort.
"I hate you..."
Natasha rolled her eyes, staring at the kids as they waited eagerly in line, excited. The red headed spy was dressed down, in a pair of dark black boots and ripped jeans. She was wearing a dark purple turtle neck with a black jacket draped over her arms. Leo clung to her side, pointing to some of the finished products with a smile. He was in one of his robot shirts and jeans, nudging Clint and Natasha every now and then. Clint kept a secure grasp on Skye's arm, preventing the youngest from either cutting the line or wandering off. Grant stood, trying to act as indiscreet as possible while Jemma stood on her tippy toes trying to see the selection of bears and bunnies they had.
"Aunty Tasha! Look!" Leo grinned, pointing to the outfits, "They have a captain America costume."
Jealousy flashed across Clint's face, the blond grit his teeth before he leaned in close to Natasha's ear, whispering, "Why does Steve get a build a bear?"
Natasha rolled her eyes at him, "Seriously Clint? That's what catches your attention?"
"You're right..." Clint agrees, "What's the wall crawler done to deserve a build a bear?"
"Ugh..." The Black Widow groaned, following Leo and Jemma as they finally entered the store. Now they could get in, get the bears and get out before someone recognized them. It's one thing for their cover to be blown, it's another for Stark to get word that the assassins are here.
Of course, fate decided to make things difficult for Natasha. Skye wandered over to the bins, searching through the bins and looking at the pelts and the stuffed demos. Natasha blinked, while Grant moved and grabbed something dark green. Jemma and Leo took their time deciding quietly, and Clint lifted a leopard pelt up, "What is this?"
"Build A Bear!" Skye grinned, taking note of their confusion, "Uncle Clint, we build our own toys here."
Natasha blinked, before complaining in Russian, something along the lines of this being a waste of time and money, and a few other things I won't repeat. Clint nudged her, watching as the kids picked their belts, moving towards the stuffing machine. Skye grinned as she looked at the sound affects, grabbing the one she wanted while Jemma's bear was being stuffed.
The employee smiled at the kids, "Ok, everyone take a heart," The employee smiled, blonde hair pinned up in a bun. Natasha tilted her head as she instructed the kids to spin around, jump, kiss the heart and make a wish before putting them in the bears. As the kids stuffed their bears, Clint and Natasha noticed that Grant got a ninja turtle wearing a red mask, Leo a monkey, Skye a purple sparkly bear, and Jemma a white sparkly bear. The kids grinned, looking for outfits, leaving the assassins to stand alone for a few minutes.
"I can't believe Spider-Man gets a bear but I don't..." Clint grumbled, annoyed, flicking through the photos on his phone of the kids kissing the heart and giving their new stuffed toys a bath.
"Clint let it go," Natasha says, "You can't keep complaining about it forever!"
"I can-" He stops, as Grant comes over finished. He smiled shyly, hugging his ninja turtle close. Clint knelt down, "You finished awfully quick Grant.."
Grant nods, "Raph just needs his sai... I was gonna help Leo, but he didn't want any help."
Natasha glanced over, seeing Leo dressing the monkey in a Yoda costume, with the head set on. She smiled, not paying attention to the conversation between the two boys until the turtle started rapping. That was what caught her attention. Grant smiled at her, the turtle rapping the theme song.
"Please tell me they don't all have voice boxes..."
Grant didn't answer, Leo regrouping with his monkey in his arms, making monkey sounds. He hugged it, "The science is strong with this one!"
Clint chuckled, looking around for Jemma and Skye. Skye had her back to them, while Jemma smiled, spinning around with her bear. Her bear was wearing hospital scrubs, and Skye was dressing her bear in an Anna costume.
"Let it go... Let it go... Don't hold it back any more..." Jemma sang with her bear, Skye singing In the First Time In a Forever with her Bear. Skye smiled, holding her Anna Bear with a smile, hugging it tightly.
Jemma smiled, "I made a doctor out of the Elsa bear! I'm naming her Elizabeth Blackwell."
"I'm naming my bear Anna," Skye says, holding her head high as she goes to the computers with Leo to name the toys. Grant took Jemma's hand, leading her over, telling her how he was gonna leave Raph's name as it was.
"Uncle Clint! How do you spell Einstein?" Leo asked, having typed Yoda and Ein.
Clint smiled, kneeling down and typing it in for him, while Natasha paid with Tony's credit card. Clint grinned, helping the employees put the bears in the boxes by separating the children and toys. Of course, that didn't always go over well and when they finally left the mall, Clint was sporting a black eye with Skye apologizing over and over again.
Elizabeth Blackwell was the first female doctor.
