Disclaimer: I do not own Skye, Phil Coulson, Melinda May, Grant Ward, or FitzSimmons. I only own the variation I have created off of this very popular idea.
I firstly must thank Neeeeeal who, as the author of Turn Back Time, has done such a very interesting and lovely job on their story I wanted to give my attempt of it a go.
However, because I cannot find B.J. Britt's wiki page or his age, I'm going with Ward. But that's not the only reason. It's because with the Hydra plot, I see no room or logical way for this story to make sense. So... It's AUish. Ward isn't hydra. Yay! Because I really did love Ward.
Warning, MAY include Avengers. I upped the rating for my own comfort.
Tony Stark had a habit of losing track of time. Whenever he was in his lab, he got so engrossed with his projects that he'd spend hours, possibly days, working on it with little human contact. He came into the lab at 10:13 in the morning, and unexpectedly ended up in there up through 10:30 in the evening. He hadn't realized it, he was working so hard to try and find something in the children's blood that could help turn them back into agents.
So, it was truly safe to say that Tony was not expecting any of the children to sneak up behind him.
"Uncle Tony," Skye's voice broke him out of his intense work, startling him enough to scream just a bit. But when he turned, the four children looked at him with unamused expression. They were the least scariest thing Tony could ever deal with as an Avenger. They each stood there, Skye and Leo clinging sleepily to Grant. Each of them were in their pajamas, Skye and Jemma wearing princess themed sleep gowns while Leo was sporting race car themed pjs and Grant, Grant was in flannel pants and a t-shirt.
"What are you kids doing in your pajamas still?" Tony asked confused, before seeing the time, "Silly question, the better question would be is why aren't you kiddos in bed?"
They simply smiled at Tony, "We need your help with something," Leo whispered sleep weighing his voice down, "We wanna give mummy and daddy a date night."
Tony blinked, taken aback by the request. These little ankle biters want to fix Agent May and Coulson together? He didn't know what to say, he tried to picture the success rate of this idea but he had no idea what the outcome would be. It looked like that had a mostly professional relationship but Agent May was just as good as Natasha when it came to masking her emotions and Coulson, well Coulson always wore his heart on his sleeve but because he was always such a generous, nice guy it was a bit hard to tell.
"Please Uncle Tony!" Skye stuck out her bottom lip and batted her eyelashes and Tony couldn't help but fall for it.
"Alright alright," He says, "When do you wanna do it?"
"Tomorrow night!" Grant smiled, and all the kids started to bat their eyes at him, "We wanna set up a romantic dinner for them like in The Lady and the Tramp."
"All we need is for something to keep them busy and out of the kitchen all day after breakfast so we can set it up!" Jemma explained, "We were gonna make them spaghetti."
Tony paled, remembering the waffle incident all too well, "You know what, what if I get one of the other avengers on board with this plan to help us out, I'm sure Steve could be a lot of help. And I'll worry about cooking, that way you kids won't need to worry about leaning over the stove."
The four children looked at one another and silently agreed with that plan nodding, "Ok!"
"Good, now you kids go run back up to bed, you'll be no use to me if you're dog tired."
As Tony shoved them gently back to the elevator he briefly questioned how they even snuck down here undetected.
"So you need my help keeping Agents Coulson and May distracted while you and the kids prepare a romantic dinner?" Steve looked at Tony, as if he had shaved his goatee.
"Yes."
Steve was about to say no, that he was not going to get involved. But then he thought long and hard about Agent Coulson and Agent May, they were practically an older version of Clint and Natasha. The way they looked out for one another and ordered each other around, Steve totally saw it. He didn't know if they were friends or more, but either way they did deserve a nice dinner.
"What do I need to do?"
"Just keep them busy, the kids and I got the rest."
"This better work Stark, I don't want to be on the receiving end of the Cavalry's anger."
"Oh it will!" Tony grinned excitedly. He had high hopes for this plan.
"Have you found the children?"
The woman stood, anxiously watching the agents work on the screens. They were searching every square inch for their test subjects, it was rather dire. Their last attempt failed miserably because, unfortunately for them, they had not anticipated Agents Romanov and Barton to be guarding the children. So far there hadn't been any good news and their superior was getting impatient. If they didn't find the kids soon...
"I got something!" Someone shouted, pulling up an image in the big screen in the room. Everyone turned to see an image of Stark Tower. It was a close up on one of the windows though, with a blurry image of four children peering out of it.
"Zoom in and enhance the photo."
"Yes Ma'am."
The man did as told, and soon the image revealed Skye, Grant, Leo, and Jemma staring out it. The woman smirked, "There they are..." She turned to look across the room, "Get a large extraction and strike team ready, we're attacking Stark Tower tonight."
"But ma'am, we failed with two avengers, you want us to go against all of them."
"You forget. One of them is already severely injured."
Yeah... I'm getting ready to finish this story. No more stalling, time to get this show on the road.
Please review.
