Disclaimer: I do not own Skye, Phil Coulson, Melinda May, Grant Ward, or FitzSimmons. I only own the variation I have created off of this very popular idea.
I firstly must thank Neeeeeal who, as the author of Turn Back Time, has done such a very interesting and lovely job on their story I wanted to give my attempt of it a go.
However, because I cannot find B.J. Britt's wiki page or his age, I'm going with Ward. But that's not the only reason. It's because with the Hydra plot, I see no room or logical way for this story to make sense. So... It's AUish. Ward isn't hydra. Yay! Because I really did love Ward.
Warning, MAY include Avengers. I upped the rating for my own comfort.
Coulson poured himself a tall cup of coffee, leaning tiredly against the counter while the children eat their waffles. May was taking a shower, leaving him to feed the children. In the silence that followed, he couldn't help but think about that file Hill showed them. He anticipated another attack, he didn't know when, but he anticipated another attack to take the children.
Skye glanced towards the elevator as it quietly opened. Steve suddenly stepped out onto the floor, giving a small, easy smile. His heart raced though, clearly Agent May and Agent Coulson would know something fishy was going on. So it was natural by that logic for him to feel nervous, how had he let Tony Stark talk him into this?
"Uncle Steve!" Leo drew Coulson's attention towards the solider. And Coulson smiled seeing his favorite super hero.
"Hey Steve," Coulson greeted, "What brings you here?"
"Looking for you actually," Steve felt his heart thunder in his chest, he practically heard it. He dug into his back pocket and procured two tickets, "Stark's got season tickets for Yankee Stadium and he's offered us the use of his passes and for the Yankee/Dodgers game." A sour taste filled his mouth, how dare the Dodgers sell Brooklyn out for Los Angeles.
"Stark obviously doesn't want to go, Barton insists on taking care of Natasha, Bruce would hate the crowd and Thor-" Steve didn't want to take Thor to a baseball game alone. He looked at Coulson with his baby blue eyes and batted them innocently, "Please?"
Coulson stared at Steve amazed. This had to be a dream, going to a baseball game with Captain America, that was just a dream come true. An utter dream come true. But the kids.
"But-"
"Go have fun Phil," May had overheard the two when she stepped out of the shadow. And as she made her entrance, using a towel to dry her hair, the agent wanted her superior to go have fun. When would he ever get this opportunity again? Ok it was likely to happen again but that was besides the point.
"You sure?"
"I'm sure I can take care of these little terrors with just myself and a disapproving glare."
sighed, "If you insist, give me five minutes Rogers."
With that, Coulson stood and went to go change into more appropriate clothing.
May sat with the kids, eating her own breakfast when their next two visitors entered. Stark and Pepper. It hadn't been even ten minutes since Coulson left with Steve and already there was no doubt some crisis. Atleast that's what she assumed, why else would both Stark and Pepper be here?
"Hey, if it isn't the Cavalry-" May growled angrily at Tony for bringing up the nickname, causing him to hide behind his girlfriend. Pepper rolled her eyes muttering a 'told you this would happen' before focusing on May.
"Agent May I know this is very last minute but I would greatly appreciate it if you accompanied me to this big business meeting."
"What happened to Happy?"
"A slight mishap," She sent a glare at Tony, "And long story short, his right arm is broken in three different places. I know this is last minute but-"
"What about them?" She pointed to the children. Agent May knew how important these meetings were and how dangerous it had become for Pepper to go alone. Not only was she CEO of Stark Industries, she was the girlfriend to Tony Stark. And since Tony was Iron man and had pissed off a lot of people, mostly bad guys, Pepper was potential leverage and revenge. So of course May would help the CEO, with Happy with an apparent broken arm and Natasha still on bed rest who else could she turn to this last minute?
Pepper's gaze turned to Tony, who sighed, "I can watch them."
"You?" May scoffed rudely, "They're more likely to be babysitting you Stark."
"Hey!"
"Please May, it's our only choice. Everyone else is busy and-" Pepper looked at Agent May desperately and the agent sighed heavily.
"Give me six minutes to change."
Tony had to admit, Pepper was a wonderful actress. She had easily convinced the spy to leave the kids with him. Ok so maybe she and threatened him before she left, it's not like he didn't experience it every day with Natasha Romanov living in his tower. He was sort of desensitized by it, but not so much in this instance. After all, Agent May was practically the Black Widows equal.
"Uncle Tony we're waiting to cook!" Skye shouted as she came into the room. She wore one of the aprons and big chef hats he brought them, the hat falling into her eyes.
"I know kid but relax, we got time," Tony says, "First thing first..." He pulled out his self made Stark I-Pad, "We need the right music and decorations to set the mood."
I'm sorry for the long wait. I really am. But hopefully this chapter makes up for it. Just as well, I'm sure you all know what's happening next.
And for anyone who's interested. I started an Agent of Shield/Avengers crossover fic. It's honestly mostly on and about an Oc it takes place from her first person point of view. So characters might not show for a while. But if you are interested, please consider checking it out.
