Disclaimer: I do not own Skye, Phil Coulson, Melinda May, Grant Ward, or FitzSimmons. I only own the variation I have created off of this very popular idea.
I firstly must thank Neeeeeal who, as the author of Turn Back Time, has done such a very interesting and lovely job on their story I wanted to give my attempt of it a go.
However, because I cannot find B.J. Britt's wiki page or his age, I'm going with Ward. But that's not the only reason. It's because with the Hydra plot, I see no room or logical way for this story to make sense. So... It's AUish. Ward isn't hydra. Yay! Because I really did love Ward.
Warning, MAY include Avengers. I upped the rating for my own comfort.
The New York skyline was usually amazing at night, especially from an arial view. What could be more beautiful than all of the lights shining in the darkness. And Avenger's Tower stood high above it all, a glowing blue 'A' illuminating the sky. However the sight wasn't appreciated very well by the pilots as helicopters and little jets slowly entered the air space around the tower.
From the ground, armored vehicles made their way around the tower, driving around it's base in faux innocence. They waited patiently for an opening, waiting for the signal.
Since none of the agents knew exactly where the children were, helicopters positioned themselves around the building cautiously. It was ordered that if the kids were spotted to seize fire, because if they were mortally injured or killed then... Well they could expect the worse and then some.
Suddenly as the clock struck nine o clock, the signal was given. Three red blips of light going off in each jet, each armored car, each elevator, as well as three long beeps.
May and Coulson had been having a good hour. For the first time in forever, it seemed like they could both go back to the people they knew in the Academy. Well... more or less.
May had just been about to lift the glass of whine to her lips when it shattered. The gun fire had filled her ears and immediately she flipped the table onto it's side and took cover behind it. The food spilt onto the floor and suddenly she felt Coulson beside her, trying to see who or what was shooting. All he could make out through the shattered window was the helicopter, the sound of the blades spinning mixing into the sound of gunfire.
May wished she had a fun in her hands, wished she had something to fight back with even though it wouldn't be able to make the helicopter. She just didn't want to be hiding behind a table.
Coulson's eyes turned towards the fire escape, the stairs that led down through within the tower. He grabbed May tightly by the hand and suddenly they were both making a run for the stairs. May had no choice but to follow, knowing exactly what Coulson was thinking. They were sitting ducks if they stayed here. On the way out, Coulson snatched up two icers he had hidden throughout the apartment, handing one to May as they made their way down. May was swearing softly under her breath before she glanced up at the ceiling.
"JARVIS, where are the children?"
The kids had been eating their icecream, all calm and peacefully when the gun fire broke out. The windows shattered, the glass flying everywhere and almost cutting the children had Steve and Tony not sprung to action. Steve held the Grant and Leo, shielding them as best he could with his body. Tony took the girls behind the couch and placed them down, looking up, "JARVIS Mark VIII!"
"Right away sir..." JARVIS sounded much more mechanical than normal, slower and much lower than usual. Tony started to cuss, someone had obviously hacked JARVIS and was disabling him.
"Uncle Tony language!" Grant cried though his voice was drowned out by the shouting. Tony scowled as Steve held up his shield to block off the bullets. Thor lunged straight out the window, swinging his hammer right into the helicopter. The helicopter stood no chance against the god, tilting dangerously downward and loosing it's balance. The guns had been snapped off the flying vehicle like little twigs and the gun fire stopped.
Skye cried, grabbing onto Tony with a vice like grip. Tony held her, looking at Steve for a moment before passing the small four year old to the soldier.
"I'm going to go try and find Bruce, that and get my armor to help out Point Break. Legolas most likely will get Romanov."
"What about mommy and daddy?" Grant asked, lip quivering.
"Don't worry, Coulson and May are tough, they'll find their way back to us," Steve says, "Come on, I'm gonna get you kids out of here ok?"
Without another word, Steve rounded up the children and led them out of the living room, unaware of the danger and chaos that was going on through the hallways. Steve and Tony split up with two different jobs but the same objective.
"CLINT!" Natasha liked to think that she would never, in any circumstance, scream for backup. But when you are injured from the gunshot wound to the lower abdomen and on required bed rest by a man who could turn big and green when angry, you'd scream too if the windows suddenly shattered from gun fire.
Immediately after the first bullet pierced the window, Natasha had slipped her hand under the pillow. She grabbed both the gun and extra magazines, taking them with her as she rolled onto the floor and used every bit of strength she had to tilt the bed over. She hid behind it, using it as a shield as she recovered from the amount of energy and strength she exerted.
"Fuck, Fuck, Fuck," Natasha muttered, incredibly happy that the under side of her bed was solid wood instead of spaced out boards. The bullets ripped through the mattress making it resemble swiss cheese and putting her in serious need for a new mattress. But she had no way of getting out of the room without sustaining some sort of injury, as well as possibly opening her still existing ones.
The gun fire stopped, if for a moment, and the only sound was the deafening roar of the copter as the blades blasted currents rivaling a tornado into her room. Glancing up, the assassin watched as several enemy agents, all with the blue found symbol on their suits, swing from the helicopter straight through the broken windows into her rooms. Before a few could draw their weapons, the red headed assassin was already flicking the safety off and firing. She was a bit screwed.
'Where's Barton when I need him?'
Natasha fired, trying to find the perfect opening that the bullet could fatally pierce through. With her low angle and the Kevlar that was no doubt protecting those agents, she was having a slightly harder time than normal making quick and efficient kills.
With gunfire ringing in her ears, she had barely heard the door being kicked in. For a split moment, a feeling of ecstasy filled her, only to make an immediate 180 when she saw that it was not Clint or even an Avenger. It was just more enemy agents that had managed to get into the tower.
May highly doubted that this was how the children wanted the evening to go, which made her marvel all the more at their horrible timing. Perhaps if the children knew about this a few hours previous, they wouldn't have gone through with it.
The entire building seemed to have been over run, leading to May and Coulson shooting the enemy at around every corner.
"Where is everyone?" May didn't know how to answer Coulson's question, but hoping they were with the children.
"How did they know we were here," She asked, as they came around another corner, shooting. The two of them, having never needed to take the stairs since they came to the tower, had easily gotten lost and were trying to find their way to well... Anyone.
The gunfire rang in their ears, echoing throughout the halls. The two agent were standing their ground, covering each other when the wall on their left suddenly seemed to burst. A roaring, green giant crashed through the wall, sending heavy dust from the plaster and rubble flying outward, the Hulk's entrance both distracting and blinding most of them. Hulk roared swinging at both his enemies and his allies, his green arm rushing fast and dangerously towards May and Coulson.
OMG Story Idea Alert! Ok ok. So, this would take place POST Season Two and be a bit of an AU sort of thing, since I don't know how I would incorporate Ward being part of Hydra into it.
Ok, so the team and Ward have an altercation/encounter while both HYDRA and S.H.I.E.L.D. track down an O-8-4 (or is it 0-8-4. This has been an ongoing mental debate for me because when I read zeroes I'll say O. But I'm not sure if that's what S.H.I.E.L.D. does when they mean zero or if they actually mean O and not a zero.) and in the midst of the chaos it gets activated, turning Grant Ward from a 32/33 year old man into a small child. And when the team takes him in, they have to figure out how to turn him back before they can arrest him because the child Ward never committed those crimes. But while supervising him, a certain ex-British Merc finds himself bonding with him despite what everyone, especially Bobbi, says. This would have suggested Huntingbird, and Bobbi would hate Grant as a child and neglect him and hold a grudge, since you know, she sees him as the same psychopath who nearly killed her and Hunter.
*Gets Stars in my eyes* But what do you guys think? Huh?
Also, those Snackeez Duo commercials are stupid. What person dumps trail mix into a cup of juice? Ok, granted the some kids at my synagogue dump their hallah bread into the apple juice during snack time but that's not the same thing exactly. If they're gonna make a fake study for a commercial they could atleast be realistic.
So... Yeah. I'm sorry if this was a bit of a wait. I can imagine you're all really concerned with Coulson and May, and the children. And Natasha. Maybe I'll kill Natasha. No... I could never do that I love the assassin, she's my favorite avenger. Well, her and Clint. Please review, I really hope you guys enjoyed that chapter. I tried to make that last part as good as possible.
