Disclaimer, you know.

That day went by rather slowly for Dorothy. She spent most of her time sketching while Alex sat behind her and watched. Every now and again one of the others would drop in to say hi and see how they were doing. At around one in the afternoon Alex had decided that he would go check on his father. However he never got the chance to leave the room as his father walked into the room as he turned away from Dorothy.

"Alex?" Mr. Teak asked curiously

"Yes father?" Alex replied.

"How are things going?" he asked curiously.

"They're going fine father, how are you?" Alex asked.

"A bit bored really." Mr. Teak replied.

"Well, why don't you stick around? Dorothy still can't leave her room so I'm keeping her company." Alex replied.

"No thanks son, I think I'll just, go back to the room." He said as he walked out.

Alex sighed and turned back to Dorothy.

"He's really upset, but he's always been good at hiding it." Alex said.

"I can tell, why don't you go talk to him?" Dorothy asked looking up from her drawing.

"Because he doesn't want to talk, he'll just sit around in the room all day and mourn before he gets himself captured." Alex replied.

Dorothy shook her head and sighed. She wished Alex wouldn't be so stubborn. She knew that if he wanted to have a better relationship with his father he would have to talk to him. She then went into her desk and pulled out a few things of oil paint.

"Alex, you know what never mind I don't think there would be any point in arguing with you at this point." Dorothy said returning to her work.

Alex chuckled and smiled. He then looked out the window. The only little bits of sunshine left through the dark clouds were beginning to fade. Soon the jester would invade and most likely they wouldn't stand a chance. He picked up the scepter from next to the desk and looked into the orb. In it he saw his reflection. He found it funny how his eyes looked a reddish green color because of the red haze in the orb. His eyes were normally a blue type color similar to Dorothy's. His hair was a lighter brownish color in the reflection of the green crystal orb. As he thought about his appearance he found he was beginning to look like his father.

"Alex?" Dorothy asked finally turning to him.

"Yes?" Alex quickly replied.

"Is something wrong?" Dorothy asked curiously.

"Not really, but be honest with me, am I beginning to look like my father?" Alex asked curiously.

"Well, yes, in a way, but you have freckles like your mother and sister, not to mention your much paler than your father." Dorothy replied.

Alex shook his head and sighed. He then set the scepter back down and leaned it against the desk.

"There are times were I wonder about my father's childhood, what was my grandfather like to him, it's the question that sometimes races through my brain." Alex replied.

"Why don't, never mind." Dorothy replied.

Alex chuckled and walked back over to Dorothy. Dorothy smiled and returned to her work once more. However she got a sinking feeling in her stomach. She didn't know if it was because she was sick or because of some foreboding force.

Meanwhile at the jester's hideout.

The jester was watching this all unfold. He had decided who would be next and what would become of them. That night he planned to capture the soldiers, Elena, Alyssa, Brianna, Chrissy and Caitlyn as well as Ellie so she could join her sister. All of Glinda's army would fall to him before the invasion even began and he was ready to carry it out. The protection over Emerald city would break as soon as Ellie was out of the picture. Glinda had created a spell between the two of them so that all that was needed was one of them to remain in the city. But how to get the girls so that they would surrender to him would be a challenge in itself. However a thought peaked into his mind and he knew what he was going to do. And soon he would be ready.

"My plans are almost complete, and soon Oz will be mine!" the jester shouted laughing wickedly.

Later in the city.

At around six in the evening Em walked into the room with a bowl of soup and a small bottle of grapefruit juice for Dorothy.

"Thanks auntie Em." Dorothy said as her aunt set the food down in front of her.

"You're welcome Dorothy." Em replied kissing her niece on the cheek.

Dorothy smiled and started eating before she turned to Alex.

"Alex, I think you should spend the night with your father." Dorothy said.

"Why?" Alex asked looking at her with a strange, curiously look.

"Because, I want you and your father to start trying to get along." Dorothy said.

"Dorothy." Alex sighed out.

"Alex, please, for me?" Dorothy asked looking at him.

Em smiled as Alex's face dropped and he sighed in defeat.

"Fine, but just this once, will you be fine on your own?" Alex asked curiously.

"Alex, you know I'll be fine." Dorothy replied.

Alex opened his mouth to say something but he was interrupted by the booming voice of the jester.

"Oh Dorothy, yoo-hoo." The jester called.

"He should know I can't leave the room." Dorothy said.

"Of course he does he knows everything that goes on." Alex said.

Dorothy nodded and got up.

"Dorothy gale, face me now, I don't care if you're ill, face me now!" the jester called.

Dorothy looked at Alex for a moment and sighed. She then picked up the scepter and turned to her aunt and nodded. She then ran out of the room as fast as her legs could carry her. By the time she managed to get outside she found all of her friends standing out in the field looking at the image of the jester. She found herself feeling slightly faint from the running.

"Oh there you are." The jester said.

"Yes, here I am, what do you want?" Dorothy asked curiously.

"Oh nothing, I just want to show you something." He said as mist formed around them.

Immediately the images of several puppets. Immediately there was a collective gasp and a few screams. After a moment she recognized some of the adults, Mr. and Mrs. Shive, Brianna's parents, and Ellie's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Upland had been turned into puppets, the other puppets she only assumed were the parents of Alyssa, Elena, Caitlyn, and Chrissy.

"You see what trying to defy me does? I can take who ever I want and there is nothing even you can do about it Dorothy!" the Jester shouted as his image and the mist faded

Dorothy immediately found herself being stared down by not the other girls. But once more by Ellie. She had tears in her eyes. She then ran off back into the city. Dorothy then felt herself collapse and blacked out before she hit the ground. She woke up to the sound of the clock striking eleven at night. She found herself completely drenched in sweat. The nightgown she had been changed into was sticking to her arms and chest. Her hair was completely soaked with sweat.

"The fever must be breaking." Dorothy said finding herself extremely thirsty.

She got out of bed and walked into the bathroom. She found a cup there which she went and filled up with water which she downed in a few seconds before she left the bathroom and returned to bed. However tonight would not be a night where she would be getting any sleep. She tossed and turned and got several drinks over the hour. The clock then struck midnight. As it did the city shook slightly. Immediately a flash of blue light surged through and over the city. The scepter began glowing extremely bright. She knew in the back of her mind that the protection over the city was broken.

Well, Emerald city defenseless and the jester creating family portraits out of puppets. Either in the next chapter or the chapter after the jester will invade the city and it will indeed fall to him. Who will be taken as prisoners as the jester invades? Let me know in the reviews.
