Disclaimer: I do not own Skye, Phil Coulson, Melinda May, Grant Ward, or FitzSimmons. I only own the variation I have created off of this very popular idea.
I firstly must thank Neeeeeal who, as the author of Turn Back Time, has done such a very interesting and lovely job on their story I wanted to give my attempt of it a go.
However, because I cannot find B.J. Britt's wiki page or his age, I'm going with Ward. But that's not the only reason. It's because with the Hydra plot, I see no room or logical way for this story to make sense. So... It's AUish. Ward isn't hydra. Yay! Because I really did love Ward.
Warning, MAY include Avengers. I upped the rating for my own comfort.
Coulson was so happy to finally be using his beloved BUS again. Commander Hill had brought it over for them to use, thinking that it's familiarity might calm any anxiety or nervous energy building up in Coulson. Little had he known or anticipated that the Avengers, minus Natasha, would be in love with it as much as he was. Currently, with May as their pilot and Clint her co pilot, the avengers were sprawled about, drinking and preparing for battle. Well, everyone but Natasha. As badly as the red head wanted to join them she was still injured and was in the capable hands of Pepper, a S.H.I.E.L.D. doctor who was no doubt being terrorized by his patient, and Hill.
Steve held the beer silently in his hands, watching the clouds go by. He sipped the beverage every now and then, zoning out. Everyone was more or less relatively quiet, making a bit of small talk. Coulson felt anxious and antsy, he couldn't quite sit still. He was constantly worried about the kids, about the things being done to them. About whether his agents would even be alive when he rescued them.
"Beginning our descend. Exact time of landing in ten minutes," May's voice filled the silence over the intercom. Everyone sort of sprang to life, beginning to make a plan.
Arguments sprung up immediately, mostly from Steve and Tony. Steve opted for a more covert attack, one that would involve a silent infiltration that would cause no attraction but Tony wanted to have an all out attack, to go in and out with guns blazing. They went back and forth, Thor siding with Stark and Bruce awkwardly caught in the middle.
"ENOUGH!" Coulson shouted, slamming his beer onto the bar counter. Everyone silenced, staring at Coulson. For a brief moment, Coulson just let his frustration subside within him before he spoke up again, this time with a plan.
Patrolling the hallways of the facility was so boring. Nothing ever happened, mostly because as far as people were concerned this facility didn't exist. So yeah, they were more or less guaranteed safety so long as no one found them but it was really boring. Safety was boring and danger was exciting. It was the curse of life.
The guard leaned back against the wall, looking left and right. There was no one around but a few other guards that were as bored as he was. Looking back at his assignment though, the guard supposed that this was much better than anything concerning the crying, screaming children being kept here.
That thought did not last for more than four seconds.
It had all happened so fast. Large chuckles of rubble shot through the air, a good portion of the destroyed wall hit the guard right in the head and brought him down. Dust floated in the air and got caught in the light and standing in the new hole was a large shape. A very green and very angry Hulk. With a loud roar, the hulk swung his arm and took down another arm while alarms blared and the few guards there opened fire.
That did nothing more but anger the green beast, and if the men weren't killed by Hulk, they were certainly bested by Thor and Iron Man when they came in. The moment they entered the party, things went a hell of a lot worse.
While Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk caused a scene that would attract more of the attention, Coulson led the others silently into the building through the roof. Steve and May followed him closely while Barton trailed, an arrow notched constantly at the ready.
Coulson was rather brilliant, while the three most destructive Avengers caused a distraction, they would sneak in, grab the kids, and get the hell out. And so far, they've run into little trouble.
May frowns, following Coulson through the halls. She had a bad feeling about this, like they were about to see something that they shouldn't. Like something bad had already happened. But surely she was just being paranoid. Right?
"Where are they?" Clint grumbled softly, looking left and right.
"They should be close," Cap reassured, stopping when he heard the faintest sound. They all stopped, straining their ears to listen. It sounded like...
May suddenly took off in a run, following the soft sound all the way. Coulson, Clint, and Cap trailed behind her, but she was going at a speed that none of them could match. As they got closer, the crying turned a bit hysteric and mixed in with some screaming.
Damn. How exactly do I end this?
I'm sorry for the long wait and I apologize. I've been thinking a lot about the next story I want to write for this fandom. Once I finish this I want to start a new AOS fanfic. The question is though on what. I mean, the only two stories I've done involve children in some way.
Hm... *thinking* Well I honestly would like to include not just Skye, Coulson, May, and FitzSimmons but also Bobbi, Mack, Lincoln, and Hunter.
Time to work my imagination. *closes eyes and begins to think* Please review.
