Meanwhile at the jester's hideout.
The jester was now extremely mad. Locasta's magic now made it impossible for him to find the group without having to send out a large search party of monkeys. It was time to invade Oz, replace the emerald city's regime with himself as the leader.
"Now it's time, Nikko! Basil!" the jester called.
Immediately the two monkeys flew into the room and saluted.
"It's time to invade Oz, get your troops ready and I shall prepare the prisoners." The jester said laughing wickedly.
The monkeys saluted and flew out of the room. The jester then cackled wickedly and the entire castle began to shake.
Meanwhile on the river.
Tugg had brought them several miles up the river before the wind began to pick up and a storm began.
"Well Dorothy, I'm afraid it's time for us to disembark my dear." Mr. Foreman said
"Tugg, dock us by that forest clearing." Alex said.
"Yes sir." Tugg said going over to the shore and dropping anchor.
Dorothy picked up Toto and pockets and held them close to her. The group of them then disembarked and Tugg started back down the river. As they walked into the forest from the clearing it began pouring. Dorothy sighed and walked over to Mr. Foreman. She then took what she recognized as one of Glinda's tents and rolled it out on the ground. Immediately to the surprise of Emma and the maids it began growing and pitching itself. When the tent had finished growing Dorothy went in and took Ellie's sword off from around her waist and placed it by the entrance. Inside the tent there were six beds set out each were plain white with plain white sheets. As the others walked in the maids and Emma once more gasped in surprise at the size of the tent. Pockets and Toto ran over to the closest bed and jumped up on it. Dorothy smiled and helped Mr. Foreman take off the backpack.
"Thank you my dear." Mr. Foreman said.
"No problem Jon" Dorothy said rummaging through the backpack and pulling out what looked like a picket sign that said washroom.
"What's that for?" Alex asked curiously
"Watch." Dorothy said walking all the way to the back of the tent.
When she reached the back of the tent she stuck the sign into the ground and an opening appeared at the back of the tent.
"Traveling with Ellie taught me a lot of things." Dorothy said turning to Alex.
Alex opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted by a loud crack of thunder that seemed to shake all of Oz. Dorothy knew the invasion had begun.
Meanwhile in the city.
The city was now swarmed with flying monkeys. The jester was now standing on the same tower where Glinda had cast the spell from the Grimmerie. He had his wand pointed into the air.
"Now it's time without a hassle, transform the city into the dark castle!" the jester shouted.
Immediately another loud crack of thunder and the entire city began to shake. The color of the emerald city began to fade and turn into dark crystal. As the city transformed everything about the land surrounding it began to change. The beautiful fields around the city were becoming as desolate as the western lands. Trees were beginning to die and the grass the grass was drying out and dying as well. The jester cackled wickedly and turned to find Locasta behind him with her wand point at him and several Nome soldiers behind her.
"You're too late Locasta, you and the stone monarch may as well surrender" The jester shouted.
Locasta looked at the jester angrily and shot a spell at him. However the jester retaliated and deflected the spell back. Locasta was hit square in the chest. She gasped and fell forward.
"You, fiend." Locasta said as she collapsed.
The jester cackled and pointed his wand at her.
"Now you will join the rest of your family." The jester said.
"Dorothy, will, stop you." Locasta said.
"Oh, will she?" The jester asked teasingly.
Locasta didn't respond she merely passed out right in front of him as the nomes that had joined Locasta retreated. The jester cackled and cast his spell.
"Where once a living did dwell, now is nothing but an empty shell!" the jester shouted throwing the spell at Locasta.
Immediately Locasta was transformed into a marionette which the jester picked up and carried from the tower. It didn't take him long to get to the new chambers where Mr. and Mrs. Gale were now cowering in the corner with their kids in their arms. They gasped when they saw Locasta now turned into a puppet in the jester's arms. The jester laughed and conjured up a cabinet for Locasta. As the cabinet appeared all the other cabinets appeared along the walls of the chambers.
"This castle is almost an EXACT model of the emerald palace but it's more like my sister's castle at the same time!" The jester said turning to the gales.
Em and henry were speechless at this point. They held their kids closer to them. The jester smiled and turned around to find Mr. Teak coming up behind him.
"Oh, it's you, Nikko!" The jester called.
Immediately the monkey flew from the ceiling and picked up Mr. Teak.
"Put him with his family, I'll take care of them soon." The jester said as Nikko saluted and flew out.
However unknown to the jester Finley and Terrance had made a run for it. Emerald city had fallen and they had to find Dorothy.
Back in the woods
The rain was pouring really hard now. The echoing sound of monkeys rang throughout the skies. Dorothy was standing in the doorway of the tent looking out at the storm.
"He's bound to make an announcement sooner or later." Dorothy said sighing.
"He will, trust me my dear." Mr. Foreman said carving at a piece of wood with a pocket knife.
No sooner had Mr. Foreman said that the jester's voice seemed to echo through the entire land.
"People of Oz, Emerald city has fallen, I, the jester am your new ruler, anyone who is caught harboring Dorothy gale and her friends will be punished, Dorothy gale I know you're out there, you know there's no resisting me at this point so you may as well give up now and surrender!" came the voice of the jester.
Dorothy looked at Alex and sighed. She then walked over to the wardrobe and opened it. Inside there was surprisingly an umbrella. She picked it up and went outside. As she opened the umbrella the scepter began glowing extremely brightly.
"Dorothy, please come back in, even with the umbrella you'll still end up getting soaked." Alex said.
Dorothy turned back to him and then looked up at the sky. She could see shadows of flying monkeys flying overhead through the blinding rain. She then sighed and turned back to Alex.
"We'll stay in this forest tonight, tomorrow however rain or not we have to leave this forest." Dorothy said.
"But were would be go?" Alex asked curiously.
"Anywhere, Locasta said she doesn't know how potent her spell is." Dorothy said walking over to him.
Alex sighed and took Dorothy's hand. She smiled and squeezed his hand tightly and kissed him causing him to blush.
"If there was an umbrella in the wardrobe do you think that we could find rain coats in there?" Alex asked curiously.
"I assume so." Dorothy said looking back up at the sky again.
Alex smiled and pulled Dorothy back into the tent. They had to be ready to set out the next day.
