Chapter Nine

Natsume

When did I ever start feeling like she was the sun? Like I needed her, to breath and live. How did she creep into our lives so fast?

I was leaning over the car, waiting for them. Our bags were already loaded in my convertible's trunk. I studied them, as they descended the front porch. Mikan was wearing a summer dress topped off with a big summer hat and shades, and flip-flops completed her assemble. Aoi was wearing the same things except she was in shorts and tops.

I was wearing khakis and polo, topped off with dark sun glasses. We looked like a family out for a vacation. I guess, we were similar to a family out for a vaction.

"Did we forget anything, cupcake?" Mikan bent down to ask Aoi a question. Then, Aoi shook her head from side to side as she warmly beamed towards her. "Okay, then! Let's get this vacation started!"

She grabbed Aoi's hand as they walked towards the convertible.

"What took you both so long?" I asked them as I opened the back door for Aoi. Aoi gladly went inside the car. Mikan was just about to pass me to follow Aoi, when I caught her wrist. "What are you doing?"

"Ah- Shouldn't I be seated beside Aoi?"

I just shook my head then indicated her to sit in the front with me. I opened her door; I can tell she was a bit shocked with the seating arrangements; she shrugged out of her shock, and then obediently seated herself inside the car.

I went over to the other side and seated myself too.

It was kind of a spur of a moment decision for Mikan to sit next to me, I don't know, but I want to be as close as possible to her most of the time.

"Okay? All set?" I asked both of them.

They both nodded. I nodded back to both of them, and then started the car, feeling strange for my spur of the moment decision.

"Can we change the station?" Mikan asked half an hour later.

I shrugged.

She changed from station to station, until I finally got a bit irritated. "Polka! Pick as station already."

"Oh! There we go! Taylor's jam is on!" She screeched excitedly, she removed her sun glasses, folding them, she held them as a substituting it for a mic. "Aoi you have to sing with me."

They both started to sing-a-long, in Aoi's case she was dancing through the beat of the music.

Mikan looked at me, and then she pointed at me, teasingly trying to incorporate me in their impromptu singing party.

She turned to Aoi, giving her the sun glasses.

Aoi returned Mikan's glasses to her. She started singing-a-long again.

She pointed at me again. Innocent stares that I actually hit my chest, making my heart constrict a bit faster.

The song ended. And I'm just a complete lost.

Mikan

It was a beautiful day. We were on the way to the beach. I was hiding my fear of going to the beach trying to cheer myself up and just not think of the beach until we reach it.

The station we were listening to was not helping my nerves. I asked Natsume if I could change it, he shrugged, I think he didn't mind it. He got annoyed when it took a couple of minutes before I finally found a station that I liked.

Blank Space was playing on it. I love this song! It was my favorite as of the moment; I just love Taylor Swift in general.

I asked Aoi to sing with me as I held my sunglasses as a substitute mic. We we're singing and jamming. Then, the lyrics needed me to point at someone. So, I teasingly pointed at Natsume.

I was laughing.

I was happy, forgetting about my fears.

I was staring at Natsume, pointing at him again.

He looked at me quite amusingly; he was watching me like I was doing something out of the ordinary. But, I just continued dancing in my seat and singing-a-long.

Then, the song ended. I was laughing maniacally. I looked over to him. He stared at me for a couple of second then quickly concentrated on the road ahead again.

What just happened?

Did I do something wrong?
