I'M FINALLY BACK! It's been two weeks since I last updated and I feel terrible for that, but chapter 25 if finally here so please R&R and I shall see you at the bottom of the page.
POV: Lucy, Natsu
Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail
The sun shines bright and warm over our heads and the sound of eager chatter and children's laughter fills the air. The sounds of splashing water rings everywhere with the smell of sunscreen lingering in the air. Beach towels and umbrellas line around the shore of Magnolia Lake with a few picnic tables already filled with fervent families that are getting ready for the events that will take place later today.
A few meters down from where I'm sitting on my own beach towel there is a line of grills that are being fired up by a few known and unknown males as they pull out pounds and pounds of meat that is ready to be grilled. Further down the lake, which is stationed right behind Fairy Tail Academy, there are a few booths being set up promising for the day to be an eventful one.
Today is Fairy Tail Academy's annual summer bash that helps fundraise for the upcoming school year only a few weeks away. I've heard that my grandfather hasn't failed to host a single bash and word through the grapevine is that he goes all out every year. I've gone to a few of the bashes when I was younger, but haven't been to one since my mother passed away, but the usual memories of the smell of cooking meat, the endless fun I'd have at the booths with my parents, and the usual firework show at the end of the night still linger in my mind. This would actually be the first summer bash I'd participate in without either of my parent's accompanying me.
"Lucy!" someone calls breaking my thoughts away from painful memories. I turn and instantly feel my face beam at who has called me out.
"Mirajane!" I call while waving over at the white haired beauty as she makes her way through the partially thick crowd towards me, both Lisanna and Elfman a few meters behind her, "I thought you guys weren't coming back to Magnolia from Crocus until next week?" I ask once Mirajane stands before me clad in a somewhat revealing two piece swimming suit and a tie around skirt.
She smiles while shaking her head and not once do I notice the small blemish right between her eyes, "We decided to come back early. It wouldn't be a perfect summer break if we were to miss one of Fairy Tail's infamous bashes," she says while placing down her things next to mine, "And sorry for leaving without warning, but Elfman had bought the tickets a day early and so we had to pack up and leave so that we wouldn't waste our tickets," she says apologetically, "If I would have known that you'd gotten in an accident at the time I probably would have waited a little longer to leave," Her eyes move down toward my right arm that rests comfortably in a sling with sad eyes and I decide then that sadness does not suit her.
Four weeks ago I had gotten into yet another accident produced by my own clumsiness. I had been home babysitting both Wendy and her close friend Chelia at the time when the accident had happened. I had to spend three weeks after the accident in the hospital and I only recently just got out about a week ago.
Waving my uninjured hand at her, I pat down the seat next to mine and she gingerly sits while Lisanna and Elfman set up their own towels and umbrella, "It's fine, I wouldn't have wanted you to miss out on your vacation because of me,"
We stay quiet for a bit before Lisanna comes up to us and asks, "What happened?" knowing well that we were talking about my accident.
Scratching my head a bit embarrassed, I look over at the trio and embarrassingly admit, "I don't know," which makes me receive confused looks, "All I really remember is that I was going up to my room to get a movie for us to watch and then after that I kind of blacked out," I say while thinking back to the actual events, "Everyone tells me that once I got the movie I was walking down the stairs and tripped over something causing me to fall down the stairs. I got a concussion and a broken arm, but other than that I was fine,"
"Then why did you have to stay in the hospital for so long?" Elfman asks concerned.
"My anemia started acting up and I had to be under observation," I say and they nod in understanding.
After that we leave our things and head on over toward the various open booths to play some games and watch as people try to dunk Mr. Clive into a pool of cold water. So far only Gajeel and Cana herself have been able to succeed in dunking the high school teacher receiving a few placid threats from the teacher. We laugh and watch as at one point Gray throws a pie at Elfman nailing him right in the face before running off in a laughing fit as the large white-haired male chases the raven haired male.
"Are you having fun Lu?" Levy asks while handing me a pink cotton candy and for some odd reason I begin to wonder what pink hair would look like on a person.
Smiling, I nod while taking a bite of the treat and linking our arms together before walking off toward the next booth to watch children fish for some plastic fish to win a prize. As we watch the children I notice from the corner of my eye Gajeel looking over at Levy from the neighboring booth. I try to hide my knowing smile as I move my gaze back to the children so as to not break out into a girly giggling fit and embarrassing my best friend far more than she already is.
Levy and Gajeel have been dating for a while now, even though she hasn't told anyone about it but we already know. It's hard not to tell when they both blush every time they look into each other's eyes and both tend to linger close to each other when they're apart. Basically it's hard to tell that they're not going out behind everyone's back. I'm still surprised that Erza hasn't demanded that they open up about their relationship or beaten up Gajeel and threatening him to make sure to never break Levy's heart.
"Lucy!" I turn and find both Wendy and Chelia running on over to me each soaking wet from probably swimming in the lake, "Lucy come swimming with us," Chelia urges pulling on my arm and Wendy nods enthusiastically.
"Sorry kids, Lucy can't get her cast wet," Cana says popping out of thin air and wrapping her arms around my shoulders, "So go on and bother some other unfortunate soul," she insists while doing shooing motions with her hands causing the girls to pout and walk away without arguing, "So what do you want to do now?" Cana asks leading both Levy and I down further into the booths.
"Well there's still a few hours before tonight's firework show so we have a lot of time to kill," Levy responds while biting into her own blue cotton candy, "We could go and play some more games,"
"Ooh, let's go on over to the kissing booth," Cana eagerly suggests, "I hear Erza is working the booth this year,"
"How come?"
"She lost a bet against Laxus last year, I don't remember what the bet was, but the loser had to work at the booth this year," she says trying to hide her devious smile behind her hand and somehow I get the feeling that she had something to do with the bet, "How much you bet Jellal is lingering nearby the booth to make sure no one tries to take advantage of the almighty Titania," this makes Levy snort and I giggle knowing my cousin would be lingering nearby his girlfriend to keep the creepy males from town away from her.
Of course this notion was true as not that far away from the kissing booth we found Jellal watching over at Erza keeping a firm eye at all the males that pass by the booth. At one point Cana heads on over with a wad of one dollar bills slamming them down on the table and demanding kisses in which Erza immediately shoots down leading into a small silly argument between both females. Jellal eventually intervenes and we have to do everything we can to keep from laughing at the theatrics going on in front of us. Especially when Cana jumps on the table moving to kiss Erza on the cheek before getting caught by Jellal leaving us all clutching our stomachs from laughter.
Through my laughter I notice the usual group of Gajeel, Elfman, Gray, and another boy that I've never seen before. The guys seem excited to see him and just when I'm about to crane my neck to see who it is I feel Levy pulling me away to go after Cana who is now running away from Erza and laughing like a maniac.
Eventually after much running and apologizing and playing at a few booths the sun eventually begins to set and we all head on toward our towels to get ready for the firework show. I stand along with Levy and Cana while Wendy and Chelia sit nearby eating an ice-cream they forced Laxus into buying for them. We watch a nearby boat sail through the darkening water waiting impatiently for the sun to completely disappear.
The sunset is glorious, all oranges and pinks spreading across the darkening sky that I've come to grow accustomed to. Right now I'd like nothing but go over to my now usual hill to watch the sun finish to set and wait for the stars to pop out so that I can watch them, but instead I watch the last of the sun peek over the horizon while wrapping my own blanket around my shoulders just as the wind starts to pick up a bit.
It isn't long before the sun disappears completely and then the first firework, a pretty red one, shoots up into the sky whistling the whole way. It explodes in the air illuminating everything around us bathing us in the light red glow causing everyone to gasp in awe while the children shriek and cheer. Another firework soon follows and it explodes shining gold and green and I watch thinking that this is the perfect way to end summer.
Not once do I notice the pair of onyx eyes watching me from across the lake.
"She's doing fine," Gray says just as two fireworks dace up into the air in a romantic spiral before exploding into shades of pink and gold, "She doesn't remember anything," he then says and I can't help but hear the warning in his voice.
"I know," I say not tearing my eyes away from the blonde just across the lake noticing her bright unworried smile and I can't help but feel my heart stutter painfully in my chest, "I'm kind of glad she doesn't remember, but it's going to be hard once school starts," I say digging my hands deeper into the pockets of my pants, "If it weren't for Makarov calling me back I probably would have stayed over at Lamia Scale with your brother," I mutter as I duck my neck down into my scarf, "Your mother and sister say hi by the way,"
He groans at the mention of his family and grumbles something about him thinking they were back in their home country of Iceberg. Then begins to panic wondering if they were going to visit in which I say that they were coming within the week to check up on him. He groans and I can concur with his expression knowing well how the Milkovich women could get around the young Fullbuster.
"Are you going to stay away from her this time?" Gajeel asks, a sly grin spreading across his face.
Watching another firework shoot up into the sky and explode green, I turn on my heel and start walking away, "It's what I have to do, whether I like it or not," and with that I head into the forest to walk away from the girl I love, away from the girl who no longer remembers me.
So it's amazing to be back and all I've got to say is that marching season for me is finally over and that means I have time to update on time! I should be going back to my previous update every four days so if things go as planned I should have the next chapter up by Friday, so fingers crossed.

richgirl555 - I'm glad you liked it and I hope you enjoyed this chapter as well.
.3 - Trust me, I feel the same way and I'm writing the story.
Owl's Song - I decided that a few of them get to use magic, although it isn't going to be to their full extent. I'll dwell into their magic a little bit more into the story, and it's ok. I tend to over exaggerate as well.
FanFictionLeon - Later when Lucy regains her memory you'll see what happened to her and what she felt at the moment, And as for Natsu avenging Lucy, that will come sooner than you think *Wink*
MeGustaZeref - And it's all I need to hear to get a smile on my face.
CelestialWizard - They will be together.
