****HOURS OR EVEN DAYS LATER (Who really knows)****
Alix roused from her forced nap; the fogginess that had once dominated her mind and body had long since gone, leaving behind a god-awful headache and a serious case of cottonmouth as a reminder of its presence. Foregoing to give her discomfort any attention, Alix's eyes darted around to survey their surroundings. This brought two irritating facts to light;
1. At some point, someone had decided to bind and gag the pair of them before or after shoving them into the back of what Alix guessed was an SUV of some sort.
2. From what she could see from her position through the heavily tinted windows; they were no longer in Mystic Falls, Toto.
It was painfully obvious that they had been kidnapped, leaving Alix to wonder who and why. The 'why' and 'who' was either something to do with that stupid stone everyone was trying to get or...Katherine had a fail-safe in place. However, Alix was a person with a mind that was quick to go straight to the worst-case scenarios and the other reasons behind their current predicament were anything but pleasant.
Suddenly the vehicle came to a quick halt. Alix could hear the gravel clank against the underside of the SUV due to the high velocity of the sudden stop. It also caused both the girls to slide into the back of the rear seats. Elena groaned at the sudden movement while Alix chose to focus on listening to what was happening. The engine shut off followed by the driver's door opening and closing. It was then that Alix got to see their captor for the first time.
The man had clearly taken his role very seriously. Alix was assuming he was male if the prominent Adam's apple and heavy five o'clock shadow were anything to go on. He was dressed from head to toe in all black, from the heat on his head to the gloves on his hands and the boots on his feet. The sunglasses really rounded the serial killer vibe he must've been going for.
Alix's body tensed as the back hatch opened. The nameless man leaned in, grabbing each girl none too gently and draping them over each shoulder as if they were sacks of potatoes. After managing to close the back hatch without much trouble or dropping either girl, the man started his trek to his lair. During this time, Alix subtly lifted her head, mentally mapping out the area in hopes of figuring out just where in BFE they were. The large condemned looking structure they entered must've been quite a successful plantation house back in its heyday.
Once inside, the man took a series of hallways before arriving at what was probably the grand ballroom. He descended the double staircase at a speed that was virtually impossible for a normal human being to generate before he dumped the girls onto a dusty antique-looking couch that looked about as stable as the house itself. He wasted no time in removing the bindings from Alix's wrists and ankles before releasing her mouth from the duct tape.
She silently watched him as she rubbed and stretched her wrists, finally getting an unobstructed view of him now that he'd removed his hat and glasses. All that black did nothing to conceal just how ridiculously pale the man was. Picture one of your palest friends and they would still be darker than this man. It was at this that Alix's brain saw the entire picture and just how bad their situation truly was.
They had been kidnapped by a vampire.
Deciding to remain silent unless spoken to, Alix leaned back against the couch, making more room for the man to unbind Elena. The teenage girl was blissfully ignorant of Alix's findings and unlike her silent companion, didn't hesitate to begin her interrogation the moment her mouth was free. From his facial expression, it was clear he wasn't prepared for that as he quickly grew agitated with Elena. Alix saw the dark veins appear beneath his eyes, changing his brown eyes to an unnatural rouge. At first glimpse, Alix assumed this was a scare tactic but as he drew closer to Elena, smugly flashing his fangs while shushing her...Alix realized that he intended to eat her.
Alix sprung into action without thought or hesitation before he could strike first. Her body collided with his, apparently, she'd used a little more force than she'd intended as he went sprawling quite a good distance across the floor. He recovered quickly only to stare at Alix in confusion as she snarled and glared right back. The sounds of heels clicking against the tile floor brought everyone's attention to the new addition to the room. A pixie-haired woman (whom Alix assumed was also a vampire) now stood in the doorway silently observing the scene before her. Her eyes darted between her friend on the floor and the girls for a moment before she rolled her eyes and scolded her idiotic friend, unintentionally revealing his name.
As the woman sauntered towards them, Alix was genuinely surprised to see Elena, who was just moments from being an afternoon snack, standing up with her shoulders squared. She appeared more than ready to ask her unanswered questions...this time directing them towards the woman.
"What do you want with us?" She asked, making a good effort to sound confident while her body rebelled with visible tremors.
"Oh my God." The pixie-haired vampire replied in awe. "You look just like her."
Both girls shared a knowing look as they knew exactly who the 'her' was...and Elena didn't appear to take that comparison as a compliment.
"But I'm not." Elena denied firmly as she shook her head. "Please, whatever you want-"
"Be quiet." The woman snapped, cutting off Elena. Ignoring Alix's pleading look to do as she was told, Elena continued.
"But I'm not Katherine." She insisted. Behind her, Alix rolled her eyes skyward. "My name is Elena Gilbert and this is Alix Winchester. Please, you don't have to do this."
Everyone has that one friend who doesn't know when to shut the hell up or can't be trusted with vital information. While they were not exactly friends, Alix now deemed Elena to be one of those people. She fought against the urge to jump up and shove a piece of her dress into Elena's mouth to prevent further word vomit. Alix had a plan for this...had they been asked who they were, she would've given them an alias. Wallowing in irritation, Alix pinched the bridge of her nose as she silently prayed for Elena to choke on her own spit.
"What do you want?" Elena asked. Then, without warning, the woman back-handed Elena with such force that the girl got some serious air before crashing into the couch in an unconscious heap.
"I want you to be quiet." The woman stated in a snarky tone.
Alix couldn't stop the flare of anger that swelled inside of her. Yes, she was irritated with Elena and wanted to smack her on the back of the head; however, there was no reason for the use of such excessive force or violence...especially if you wanted cooperation out of your captives. While Alix never had a problem with the Salvatores or Baby Vampire, there were some creatures out there that as a species, felt they were something akin to walking deities just because their DNA sequence enhanced some things.
In a blink-and-you-missed-it moment, Alix stood toe to toe with the vamp. Her eyes were no longer their soft emerald hue. That was replaced with a blinding silver that seemed to glow.
"I'm going to give you one free shot, so you'd better make it good," Alix growled in a voice that was strikingly different from her usual tone. It was downright dangerous. "Knocking me down is the easy part, keeping me down...well, good luck."
The vampire in front of Alix took a step back, visibly stunned by the creature before her. After regaining her composure, her eyes narrowed as her own bright green eyes sized up Alix. Her head cocked to the side as she took in everything about Alix...there was something very familiar about her, but she didn't know what. It wasn't until she spotted Alix's necklace that it dawned on her.
"Alixiah?" The woman whispered in disbelief as her hand covered her mouth. Her eyes widened, changing her entire demeanor in a matter of seconds.
It was now Alix's turn to be visibly surprised. It had been a long time since anyone had referred to her by that name. She had never seen this woman before; not even the Salvatores knew that name...so how in the hell did this woman in front of her know it?!
"Alixiah Mikaelson?"
Ohhh...there it is.
"What did you just say, Rose?" Trevor chimed in before blurring over to see what caused Rose to react in such a way.
"I don't believe it," Rose mumbled to herself before she turned to Trevor. "Don't you see it, Trevor? It's her." Rose insisted while Trevor remained confused. It was until she smacked him on the arm and further clarified did he react appropriately. "It's Alixiah...Elijah's wife."
"Oh...my...God." Trevor responded with his jaw hanging open.
Had Alix witnessed this from an outsider's point of view, she would've laughed at the faces of the two vampires.
"Okay, this is going to be super awkward and not for me; my name is ALIX WINCHESTER. If you recall, that's what the girl you just bitch-slapped told you a few moments ago." Alix clarified, making sure to heavily emphasize her name. "You seem to have me mistaken for someone else and I'm not quite sure how. I've never been married and if you're assuming something because of the ring on my necklace...I got it at a pawn shop in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. I'm sorry, but I'm not the girl you think I am."
As the three stood there awkwardly, something very strange began to happen. The atmosphere surrounding them changed. To Alix, it was as if she'd been thrown back in time. She watched, unnerved, as Rose's modern appearance morphed into something one would see at the Renaissance Fair; her short dark locks grew longer and lighter in color while a blue corset covering a white cotton dress replaced her current attire.
The ballroom turned into some darkened corridor lined with candles. The alter Rose was suddenly very close to Alix, shielding her from someone's view. Alter Rose appeared to be very paranoid, constantly looking from side to side as if she was expecting someone to appear out of thin air. She spoke so softly and quickly that Alix could barely understand a word. There were only two words that were decipherable, 'run' and 'Klaus'.
"Say what you'd like, but I would know you anywhere, Alixiah." Rose insisted earnestly. Her comment made the whole LSD hallucination dissolve, leaving Alix unnerved and irritated.
"Don't fucking call me that!" Alix snapped. "I am Alix, not Alixiah. And how the fuck would you 'know' me anywhere when I've never seen either of you before today?!"
There was no way in hell that Alix was going to admit to those two lunatics what she'd just experienced. Somewhere in the back of her mind, Sam's theory reared its ugly head. She was definitely not going to acknowledge the same feeling of familiarity she felt looking at this woman that she'd experienced during her dream, no fucking way. She mentally shut that shit down and continued with her current facade.
"You probably don't remember this, but the last time we saw each other was five-hundred years ago," Rose replied, placing a hand over her own heart as she stepped closer to Alix. "I know, with every fiber of my being that you are Alixiah Mikaelson because there was a time I considered you family."
"I'm sorry, truly I am, but I am not her." Alix softly said.
Did she truly believe that Rose was speaking the truth, Alix couldn't say either way for sure. With her missing memories and whatnot, it could be the truth or it could all be apart of an elaborate scheme devised by Katherine; the bitch was notorious for psychological warfare. But there was one thing she couldn't dismiss; the woman in front of her seemed to truly believe in what she spoke. So, Alix was left with two options; she could either pretend this entire situation never happened or she could investigate further and find out why these two whole-heartedly believed she was someone else...it would also give her an opportunity to find out what their game plan was too.
"You took us for a reason, so you clearly need something. I'm willing to ensure that whatever your plan is will play out flawlessly without a single hitch from either of us...if you explain to me why you are so dead set in thinking I'm someone else." Alix said, clearly choosing the second plan.
The pair seemed dumbfounded by her statement as they shared a look to see if they'd heard her correctly. A few agonizing moments later, Rose looked at Alix, gesturing towards the stairs. Alix looked over at Elena's still unconscious form before slowly following after the two vampires. She took her time going up the steps and as she neared the top, the obnoxiously tall heels she'd been forced to wear (however, they did make her legs look amazing) caught on something causing her ankle to buckle. Had she not been graced with quick reflexes, Alix surely would've kissed the stairs. Stopping in the doorway, she didn't hesitate to rip off the shoes, which caused the vampires ahead of her to stop and watch suspiciously. Rose's demeanor quickly stiffened, her eyes narrowed, making her look like a predator ready to chase after its fleeing prey.
"Pump the brakes there, Cheetara; there will be no running, especially in this getup." Alix gestured to the short, strapless black dress she was wearing. "Um, it wouldn't be terribly inconvenient of me to ask if you could spare something for me to wear, would it? Something that maybe wouldn't risk a wardrobe malfunction?"
Rose's face remained stoic and for a few fleeting moments, Alix seriously thought she was going to charge at her...until she smiled. It was a smile that bordered on creepy and did nothing to relax Alix. Rose reached out, gripping Alix's forearm as she dragged her down the narrow hallways. Trevor's amused laughter echoed and followed them until Rose stopped at the second door on the right. Opening the door she pushed Alix inside the dimly lit room. As Alix stumbled in, she looked around and instantly regretted her decision.
