ON WITH THE STORY!
Shura watched from the branch she perched on silently above the forest clearing and had to cover her mouth with her hand to stop herself from giving her thoughts a voice. She watched as Voldy shoots that green curse that killed anything it hit instantly and felt sick as it hit the expecting Harry square in the chest. She had seen death thousands of times before but this was different, a young boy who was expected to calmly and acceptingly walk to his own death. She saw as the boy crumpled to the floor and was unsurprised when Voldy himself collapsed where he stood at the same moment. What she hadn't expected was the grunt from Rin as he also slumped to the ground. She watched in horror as he and Voldy awkwardly returned to their feet. She watched Mrs Malfoy walk to Harry to inspect his corpse but could barely see as everything clicked into place in her mind.
Rin was a Horcrux. How or when she didn't know but her mind raced at a million miles per second, If he's a Horcrux like Harry, He also needs to die, the worst part? He was immune to the curse. She took a few deep breaths to calm her panic and returned to watcheing the scene. Mrs Malfoy confirmed Harrys death and the the death eaters erupted into shouts and cries of victory, celebrating this small but significant event. Rin stood by, looking like he might break with how battered he was, without joining in and the half giant Hagrid wailed in dispair. Voldermort spoke in Rin's direction, stretching out an arm as if welcoming him and he walked past him to the dead student. He picked him up and carried to Hagrid as Voldy instructed him to and dropped the limp figure in the tallers arms. disgusting, Shura though, giving the corpse to the Giant so everyone can see it. She watched the death eaters gather around and form rows and slowly began marching towards the school. Shura took that as her cue to head back and as silently as possible, jumped from branch to branch, thankful that the death eaters below where to excited about the turn of events in their favor to really pay attention when she stood on a particularly creeky branch. The trees thinned out pretty quickly and she came to the edge of the grounds and jumped towards the floor, landing neatly on her feet. Not sparing a second to catch her breath she moved into a sprint and crossed the grounds. When she got to the now half crumbled entrance she spotted some students, teachers and parents sitting around looking defeated and decided she probably shouldn't tell anyone that their beloved little hero was dead. That thought brought her mind back to her apprentice and her mood darkened more even more. With some luck the clown would turn up to watch as he always did and he would know a way to destroy the Horcrux without killing Rin. She got to the great hall and immediately found Amaimon who was perching on the top of a pile of rubble suckking on a lollypop.
"Amaimon! Get down here!" She called, ignoring the questioning glances the adults around her threw her way. The king of earth looked down at her and he jumped down from his perch. "Harry is dead, they're coming this way with his body to show off. Voldermort has turned Rin into a Horcrux, can you send one of your goblins or something and tell the clown to come? He's probably the only one who could find a way to destroy the Horcrux without killin' Rin." She said under her breath, not wanting anyone to overhear. Amaimon frowned and tilted his head.
"Isn't a Horcrux something with someones soul attached?" he asked, eyebrows furrowed. "I can't contact him, I don't even have a key since he confiscated it off me." Shura's eyebrow twitched in annoyance.
"Then how the hell did yer get 'er?" She growled an the demon glared at her.
"Big brother opened a gate to a church a few miles away from here. I ran the rest of the way." Shura sighed, irrited by the demons lack of help and crossed her arms. The death eaters would surely be arriving soon and most likely a fight with them so she searched for the teachers to let them know what was coming. She stopped as she spotted a familiar head of bushy brown hair and a taller redhead standing hand in hand by the entrance. Taking a deep breath she headed towards them, now wanting to do this at all, and came to a stop in front of them, their surprise clear on her face.
"Come with me," she said quietly and took a few steps to where they where less likely to be heard. Once satisfied there was nobody within hearing range she took a breath. "Rin is a Horcrux. I don't know when or how but I just found out." The two looked at each other in shock. The brunette opened her mouth but Shura cut accross her. "I don't know so don't ask. The death eaters are on their way, if a fight breaks out stay clear of him, spells don't work, not even the green killing curse. I saw someone use it on him earlier an it doesn't do anything." The redhead looked shocked for a moment but it dissapeared and he lowered his gaze.
"We where there, earlier. They where in the shrieking shack, Voldermort...he performed some sort of ritual and broke curry-what's it, Rin just... screamed, screamed and then passed out. We left him chained up hoping it would slow him down." Shura's gaze darkened as he spoke. She turned away to await the inevitable and didn't turn back as she spoke.
"They will be here any moment, whatever you do don't kill Rin, I have backup on the way, they will figure something out." She continued walking past them but the girl grabbed her sleeve.
"What about Harry?" She asked with wide, desperate eyes. Shura didn't turn, instead opting to pull her robes out of her grasp. She felt the girls glare on her back as she continued towards the schools entrance and stepped outside just in time to see the organized march of death eaters lead by Voldermort, Rin and Hagrid, Harry's corpse bobbing up and down as the giant carried him.
Hermione watched Shura walk outside with an accusatory glare.
"Something's hapoened," She thought out loud. Ron tightened his grip on her hand an she turned to him. "How does she know about the Horcruxes? WHY does she know? They thought she was working for Snape before-"
"Wait, listen." Ron grabbed her attention by giving her hand a shake and she turned to him. "Listen." She did as she was told and noticed the steady pace of footsteps, lots of them. They followed where Shura had gone and watched in horror as death eaters flooded in from the bridge lead by Voldermort. Behind him stood Rin who no longer had flames around him but his eyes where completely black, whites an all, he wore a feral snarl on his face. Just behind him was a whailing Hagrid who was carrying something, or someone. A sense of dread pooled in Hermiones stomach as they took a few slow steps closer and Ginny voiced their thoughts, startling Hermione as she hadn't expected her to be so close behind her.
"Who is that, Hagrid is carrying?" As they got close enough to make out the familiar tattered brown jacket, Voldermort stepped into the very centre of the destroyed courtyard and called out gleefully as if to an audience.
"Harry Potter," he yelled accross the clearing so everyone could hear, "...is dead!" The triumph in his voice made hatred shoot through her like electricity but it was quickly drowned out by grief, Ginny screamed her denial and charged forward and her and Ron had to grab her and stop her from running to her death. She held her tightly and her eyes instantly teared as she could make out the lifeless features of one of her oldest friends and she bit back a cry. The death eaters jeered and applauded like spectators at a quiddich match and her blood boiled with venom. Any hope the had left seemed to melt away, crumbling to dust like so much of their beloved school. Some of the students and teachers around her called out in defeat or anguish and Voldermort turned to them with an angry look.
"SLIANCE!" He called and he waved his wand, silencing them with a spell. "Stupid girl, Harry Potter is dead!" He sneered when his eyes fell on Ginny who was still struggling against their grip. "From this day forth...you'll put your faith," he regarded each of their faces with a purely evil stare, "in me. Harry Potter is dead! And now it's the time to declare yourself. Come forward and join us," his voice lowered and an involuntary shiver ran down Hermione's spine. "Or die!" There was silence. Voldermort stood in the centre of the courtyard with his arms raised at his sides in a welcoming manner. Hermione tried her best to keep calm, she could grieve for her friend later. She stood tall and saw a lot of others around doing the same, wands at the ready. One of the death eaters, Lucius, called accross the clearing.
"Draco!" All eyes turned to the blond who stood on what remained of the resistance's side. He looked around awkwardly, almost like he wasn't sure. His mother and father called out to him and after a few tense seconds, broke ranks and slowly crossed the distance. When he reached Voldemort, the dark wizard reached his arms and embraced Draco, his expression that of a proud father, only twisted and wicked.
"Well done Draco! Well done." He whispered, just loudly enough to be heard across the field. Draco shuffled away from him and fled to his parents side who quickly hugged him and pushed him behind them defensively. A sliver of pity ran through Hermione but she was quickly destracted by a figure limping forward with the Sorting Hat held at his side. He was a lot worse for wear than most with blood staining the side of his face and jumper and his leg was bluddied, the cloth ripped in places and he gave the impression of someonemaking their last stand.
"Well, I must say I'd hope for better. And who might you be, young man?"
"Neville Longbottom." Voldermort and his followers erupted into laughter, Bellatrix's harsh cackle rising above the hum in particular and Hermione wanted to reach out to him and pull him back before he got himself killed. When the laughter died down Voldermort spread his arms wide again.
"Well, Neville, I'm sure we can find a place for you in our rank-"
"I'd like to say something." Neville cut in. The smile on Voldermorts face twisted into a grimace and he looked back and forth between the brunette and his followers, confusion and barely contained anger on his twisted features.
"Well, Neville, I'm sure we'd all be fascinated to hear what you have to say." He whispered dangerously. The entire area fell into a silance so perfect, even the wind seemed to be holding itself back.
"It desn't matter that Harry is gone."
"-Stand down, Neville!" Dean called, worry evident in his voice. Neville shot him a look of determination and continued, his voice clear snd strong.
"People die everyday! Friends, family. Yeah... We lost Harry tonight. He's still with us. In here." He put a hand over his heart as he spoke. "So as Fred, Remus...Tonks...All of them. They didn't die in vain. But you will." He stood and faced Voldermort. "Because you're wrong! Harry's heart did beat for us. For all of us! It's not over!" as he finished his speach he plunged his hand into the sorting Hat and to Hermione's bemusement, pulled something long and metal from it, the sword of Griffindor. He took an offensive stance as best he could given the state of his leg. Everyone seemed to raise their wands at the same time when someone in black robes charged forward and grabbed the boys sword and stood between him and Voldermort.
"Enough with the speeches, keep it up an I'm gunna be sick." The exorcist turned to the death eaters and drew a long purple sword from somewhere unseen. Voldermorts expression flickered dangerously. "For such a famous wizard you sure as hell like yer kiddy games. Hand over the kid." Hermione's head spun, what on earth was she thinking? She had no chance against the dark wizards, despite whatever powers she could use she was still primarily a muggle. Voldermort regarded her with something close to amusement but something about his stance made her think he saw something in the threat the she didn't.
"My my, Miss Smith, or should I call you Miss Kirigakure? I've heard from my brothers that you have been spying on us." He turned and held a hand out towards Rin who stood next to Hagrid, his small form even smaller next to the giant holding Harry's...Harry. "Come." Hermione watched, stomach knotting as he obediently walked forward, steps uneaven due to his injuries even under the dark lords control. Rin came to a standstill next to Voldermort who reached out and rested a hand on the bluenettes shoulder, pulling him into a warped mockery of an embrace and smiled wickedly at Shura. "Well I would, but you see... He answers to me, only me." The death eaters erupted into laughter once more and even from this distance Hermione heard Shura's grown of fury. A split second later a number of things happened all at once. The sound of someone apparating cut through the noise in the courtyard, so loud it echoed across the grounds. The sound was the same but a lot louder which didn't make any sense, it was enough to silance the jeering death eaters who looked around and at each other for the sourse of the noise. At the same moment Voldermort released Rin and cried out in what sounded like pain, he held his arm to his chest and Hermione could have sworn she saw the crimson shimmer of fresh blood splatter on the floor. The moment the echoing stopped there was a shuffling from where Hagrid stood. Hermiones breath cought in her throat as she watched Hagrid drop Harry and he stumbled to his feet, very much alive. She watched with wide, unbelieving eyes along with everyone else. Before she could say or do anything a group of people, all except one, wearing full length black coats with various weapons held in their hands. They spilled in through a part of the walls surrounding the courtyard that had been blown to smithereens and focused their aim at the death eaters. They where lead by a young looking boy holding a gun up which was smoking - The cause of the sound, Hermione realised. The boy's face was contorted with a rage she had never seen before, his exotic features twisted into a snarl and from under his lips poked sharp fangs and his ears stretched out into points. His aqua coloured eyes had a glowing red ring around the pupils and the hand that held the gun had sharp, pointed nails that looked deadly. Everyone was looking between the newcomers and Harry, unsure of where to look and an expectant silence befell the area once again, everyone's breath held waiting for something to happen, someone to make a move - Even Voldermort bore an expression of uncertainty. The apparent leader of the newcomers was the one to brake the silance and his voice sounded more animalistic than human and the hairs on the back of Hermione's neck stood on end with his words.
"Get. Your. Hands. Off. My. Brother."
YEAH! HAVE THAT! XD and sorry but you guys know how much I like my cliffies XD
Every other review I've had everyone has requested that Yukio make an enterance so I thought what the hell ^0^ Since I had changed the direction of the fic anyway XD since the fic is fairly neutral I decided to go with demon Yuki cause there aren't enough fics with him in as a half demon T.T
anyways, sorry it dragged a little, I feel like I've just compeltely lost my ability to write and everything, even if something big is happening, feels bland when I read over it so I'm really sorry if it feels like that. The next one will be better! (Shakes determined fist at tablet and pulls creepy face)
So yeah, I'll upload the next chapter as soon as it's done and we've reached 100 reviews (the longer the better! ^0^) I'm already working on the next so it will be done within a week or two =) Right, back to writing when I get in from work XD
Until next time xXx Aneki xXx
