Chapter 26. The Best Gift You Could Have Given Us
(Three years later ~ Thirteen years old)
"Dana!" I say with a smile as I open the door to our old friend, "What a surprise; come in!"
"I'm not staying long." Dana told me, "I brought a birthday gift for Daisy. I know her birthday was a few months ago - how could I forget that day?! - but I didn't have the chance to come until now."
Daisy barrelled down the stairs when she heard the voice of her godmother, "Dana!"
"Hello Daisy-May." Dana said, giving her a hug, "I need to talk to you. Let's go into the yard."
"Sure." Daisy said, and she leads Dana outside.
"Was that Dana?" Jasper asked as he comes into the room.
"Yeah, she's talking to Daisy." I said, looking to the bottom of the garden where they were sat talking on the grass. Just out of earshot, I noticed. "Whatever they're talking about, it's a secret."
"A secret?" Jasper asked.
I shrugged, "I guess we'll find out soon enough."
They stayed out there for over an hour and Daisy came back into the house alone, "Dana had to leave."
I raised an eyebrow, "Did she?" Daisy nods, "What was her present?"
"What present?" Daisy asked.
I narrowed my eyes, "She said she had a gift for you."
"Oh, the gift..." Daisy said, "It was a charm for my bracelet. See?"
She holds up her wrist. The Cullen Crest bracelelt has gathered a lot of charms since we gave it to her twelve years ago. I didn't see any new ones. She's about to turn away but I catch her wrist, "Which charm?"
"This one." Daisy says, pointing vaguely at a daisy charm. Then she pulls her arm away and skips up the stairs.
"Didn't Poppy get you that?" I called after her, but she'd disappeared. I actually knew for a fact that Poppy had got it for her; Daisy had bought Poppy a matching poppy charm.
"She's definitely hiding something." Jasper said from across the room.
"You know Dana; mysterious as ever." I said, "I'm sure whatever she gave to Daisy, we'll find out eventually."
And actually, I'd find out what Daisy's gift was later that very same day.

"Mama, where are you?" Daisy called as she walked through the house.
"In the kitchen." I called back, just as I put a tray of cookies in the oven. She appears in the doorway and surveys the room.
"Is anyone else home?" She asked. I shook my head.
"Jazz went hunting, but he'll be back soon." I told her, "Everyone else is at some work thing with Carlisle."
"Good. I have a present for you." She said.
"A present?" I asked. She nodded. She set down a cup in front of me, "Daisy, I don't drin-" I stop, because the liquid in the cup looks and smells familiar. I look up slowly and meet Daisy's gaze, "Is this...?"
"Dana told me that I'm old enough for my gift to become active." Daisy said, "I can make you pregnant."
"Daisy!" I say, feeling my eyes welling up with waterless tears, "I can't believe you...wow...I just...you..."
"Just drink it." Daisy said with a laugh, "I want a little brother or sister, sometime in this century!"
I couldn't stop smiling and I hugged her tightly before drinking the drink she'd set in front of me.
"I need to go and tell Jasper!" I said, standing up. She caugh my arm.
"No! Wait!" She said, "Don't tell him yet."
"Why not?" I asked, confused. This was amazing and I wanted to share it with Jasper!
"I've never done this before, it might not work." She said, "I don't want to get everyones hopes up and then dissappoint you all!"
"You could never dissapoint us, baby girl." I told her.
"Please, don't tell anyone until it's certain." She begged.
I smiled, "Okay, I won't. But I do need to go and find Jasper so that we can...ummm, you know, have...I mean..."
"Have sex." Daisy said plainly, "It's okay, Mom. I'm thirteen. We had a sex education class at school like three years ago, I know how it works."
"Umm okay." I said, feeling slightly awkward, "I'm gunna go find Jazz." I start to leave then run back to my daughter, kissing her forehead, "Thank you, Daisy. This is the best gift you could have given us."

It didn't take long for Jasper to get back from hunting, and I wasted no time in grabbing him and dragging him upstairs to our bedroom. Daisy had decided to go out with her friends and the rest of the family were still at the hospital with Carlisle, so we had the house to ourselves.
It was all I could do to stop myself from yelling out what Daisy had done. I wanted so badly to tell Jasper that we might currently be conceiving a baby...but I knew I couldn't. I'd promised Daisy I wouldn't, and she also had a point. I didn't want to get Jasper's hopes up if it didn't work, and I know Daisy would feel awful. Not that we'd blame her, but I know that she'd end up blaming herself.
Jasper's more than happy to accept my invitation of sex, not even questioning it when I pounce on him. We lie in bed afterwards, tangled in the sheets. Jasper traces circles on my bare shoulder with his finger and murmurs in my ear, "It's been too long since we've done that."
"I know." I whisper back with a smile. It really, really has.
"We're never alone anymore." Jasper said, "Don't get me wrong, I love being surrounded by family, but I miss being just me and you."
I nod with a sigh, and the thought crosses my mind that if Daisy's gift worked then we won't be alone again for a long time. Jasper shifts so he's leaning on one elbow, looking down at me, "Somethings up, what is it?"
"Nothing's up." I tell him, but I know that he instantly sees through me. I bite my lip, "I can't tell you."
"You can't tell me?" He asked, an eyebrow raised.
"It's...a surprise." I said.
"That's hardly fair, I never get to surprise you!" Jasper complained.
"Sorry, baby, but I'm still not telling you." I said.
Jasper rolled on top of me, pinning me down, "Are you sure? I can be very persuasive."
I grin at him, "Yeah?"
He kisses me for a long time, gently trailing his fingers around my stomach and up across my chest. I moan and pull him closer to me, deepening the kiss. After a while, he pulls away and looks down at me expectantly. I giggle and make a zipping my lips motion.
Jasper growls, "You don't play fair, Mrs Whitlock."
It's been ages since he - or anyone - has called me that and it brings an uncontrollable smile to my face, "I love you, Jazz."
He matches my smile, "I love you too, Alice. More than you could ever know."
We melt back into a kiss, almost not hearing the door opening downstairs as the rest of our family come home. With that, we put our clothes back on and join them downstairs.
A/N: So this was a really short one but I just had to kind of shove this bit in...I had to end it there because what happens next is better in Daisy POV...which brings me to my next point...from now on the chapters are going to be in Daisy POV, starting with chapter 27. I reeeeeaaaally hope you like Daisy POV! :)
The next few chapters are going to be pretty drama-filled too, so stick around for that ;) AAANDDD, as always, if you review you'll get a drama-filled sneak peak before I update! ;)
I know that this time I sent the sneak peak literally the day that I updated, but that was because I go to America tomorrow and I'm not sure how long it will be before I get the wifi sorted out...so I thought I'd better update it now before I go...so yeah, be patient with the updates whilst I'm on holiday! ;) (Also, did I mention, I'm super super super excited for America!)
Anyway, thanks for all the reviews, faves, and follows on the last chapter! Much love to you all :)
