Disclaimer, you know.
After Alex had managed to get Dorothy back into the castle she spent the next day and a half in silence. Wandering about the castle, only stopping for meals or to go to sleep. Everyone stayed out of her path since she wouldn't talk to anyone. Toto, pockets, and Alex did as well, but that was only when they could avoid it. Dorothy wasn't one to sulk about so much but now that she really knew the stakes, that she had to fight or this would never end. Towards noon on the second day of her sulking she sat down and the desk in hers and Alex's room, took out a pencil and some paper and began sketching. She sketched for a while before turning to look at Alex. He was sitting in the chair he had set up but he had his back turned to her.
"You know, when someone is in a state of distress, it's nice to try and talk to them." Dorothy said.
"We all tried, we just figured after a while it would be in our best interests as well as yours to just let you blow off steam on your own." Alex replied as he turned to look at her.
"Alex, his note, his feelings for Rose, it's making it harder and harder for me to want to kill him." Dorothy said as she turned back to her work.
"But it's not like we have a choice." Alex said.
"What do you mean we? I'm the one that started this mess, it has to be me." Dorothy said.
"Dorothy, I won't let you go alone." Alex said getting up from his chair and walking over to her.
"Alex, I don't want any of you to get hurt, I know I've said this before but this time I mean it." Dorothy replied
"Dorothy, why are you trying to make it sound like you're alone in this?" Alex asked curiously.
"Because right now, I have to be." She said as she got up and grabbed the scepter.
"Dorothy, no one is going to let you do this alone." Alex said grabbing her by the shoulder.
Dorothy said nothing she simply pulled out of his grasp. As she walked out of the room and soon after, out of the castle, it would have great weather for kite flying had she had one as the winds were blowing strongly towards the east. As she walked to the river bank however she was met by a sight she hadn't expected to see. Tugg coming back up the river, his sails being blown along by the strong wind. As he docked at the river bank Glinda immediately ran off the boat and over to Dorothy.
"What are you guys doing back?" Dorothy asked.
"Rose said you were sulking, and now you know the truth of the situation, we took a vote, and decided it would be best if we stuck by you." Glinda said as she embraced Dorothy tightly.
"How long?" Dorothy asked curiously.
"How long for what?" Glinda asked in response.
"How long before the people Oz wage all-out war?" Dorothy asked.
"Not long now, soon they should be ready to fight." Glinda replied.
"Where's Alex?" Ellie asked curiously as the rest of them disembarked.
"He's inside." Dorothy said as she pulled out of Glinda's grasp and ran back inside.
Meanwhile at the city.
The jester was surprised when the crystal ball illuminated itself and showed the image of Dorothy and the others. He was thrilled that he knew where they all were now, but at the same time he was terrified. The castle was one he once knew all too well. He couldn't attack it, he couldn't do anything to harm the woman he loved. The woman he left behind. Out of anger he ran out of the chambers and to the highest tower of the city. He shot several spells into the air haphazardly before taking a few deep breaths and returning to the chambers. When he looked into the crystal ball again he realized that Dorothy had isolated herself from the group. He knew that Nikko had delivered his message and he realized now that Dorothy had indeed received it. He sighed and turned to the multicolored crystal ball and placed his hands on it. It was time, time for war, time for battle, and time to end this for the last time.
Okay I know this was a shorter chapter, but the battle of Oz is coming, not in this chapter, but the next. Who will win? What will become of the jester or Rose? And is that musical number soon?(yes it is.) remember leave a review and I will see you in the next chapter.
