Whoever thought that I would leave you with such a depressing ending is whack.

I promised you all a happy ending and I give nothing but my word. A promise is a promise, so without further ado here is the REAL final chapter to my wonderful story.

Please R&R and I shall see you at the bottom of the page.

POV: Narrator, Narrator, Natsu

Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail

Months passed by in a blur of colors. Soon the disheartening signs of winter began to fade with the melting of the snow and the blooming of flowers. The air was now warmer and the skies bluer making Magnolia flourish in vibrant colors of greens, pinks, yellows, and blues. Even the streets were beginning to be filled with the fluttering petals of the blossoming sakura trees.

The people of Magnolia were also at peace with no worries to plague their tranquil minds. Not even the explosion that had happened during Thanksgiving bothered them much anymore. It had been an accident, after all, due to hidden fireworks that had somehow gone off just before the meal began. Thankfully no one had gotten hurt and reconstruction began immediately after clearing all the rubble out.

All who could helped rebuild the destroyed part of the school with classes resuming in the classrooms that had been untouched during the explosion. Questions about the wreckage still remained and a few rumors had arisen here and there, but no one ever really noticed the somber feeling that hanged in the air from a few of the students, especially the wild pink haired teenager who had now suddenly become quiet.

People asked what the matter with him was, but he simply shrugged them off mutter a small, "Nothing," before walking away.

He no longer picked fights or yelled out in class. He mostly kept to himself but on occasion you'd see him speaking with his former group of friends who treated him as if nothing had happened, because to them nothing had happened. It's as if the young boy just suddenly shut down over something that was unknown to them. In fact, they thought that after his father's recovery he'd be even louder and chaotic than ever, but they were proven wrong. In a way it is as if he had matured.

Those who knew the truth of his silence would sometimes send sympathetic looks his way like both raven haired boys that were his closest friends. At times even professor Justine would give the teen an encouraging pat whenever he passed his desk during his lectures. Even the headmaster, who hardly ever smiled as much these days, would keep a close eye on the young boy. No one understood the change in their peers moods, but that's because they didn't remember a certain blonde whose smile could not be outshined.

Before anyone knew it summer was just around the corner and the final school year for some of Fairy Tail Academy's students was coming to a close with the sound of cheers and graduation caps raining down like fluttering petals.

"We finally made it," Gray cheers while holding his diploma high over his head while hugging Juvia close to him with his free arm.

"Congratulations little brother," a tall lean woman with long dark purple hair says as she ruffles her younger brother's hair causing him to swat her hand away. The bluenette even giggles as she unwinds herself from her boyfriend's grasp.

Yes, you heard right. Gray Fullbuster and Juvia Lockster were now, finally as many other people like to say, dating. The usually poignant woman still had her expressionless face, but now a days she tends to smile more and occasionally blushes when her eyes lock in with Gray's.

"Yeah, I didn't think that you'd make it," a tall male with silver hair agrees while patting the boy's back with a heavy hand.

"Kids, leave your brother alone," a woman with short dark purple hair and wise dark eyes says as she pulls out a camera and instructs her three kids to line up for a picture. She takes a few pictures, occasionally glaring at her kids who should be acting like young adults before finally snapping a perfect picture, "Alright, Natsu and Juvia, you're up."

The pink haired teen's head snaps up at the sound of his name. He had been silently watching the squabbling family from his perch on a nearby picnic table. A small smile had been placed on his usual somber face and it instantly vanished once the Milkovich woman had called out to him.

"Nah, I'll pass," he says while trying to wave her offer off with a kind uneasy smile.

She doesn't listen to him as she walks over to him taking his hand and dragging him to stand next to her youngest son. She gives him the same pointed look that sends chills down his back and he has no choice but to listen to her commands. Even his father, who is somewhere within the fray of chattering families, wouldn't be able to come and rescue him from Gray's mother and sister.

"Smile," Ur says before snapping a few pictures and then arranging her other two children around the three graduates who are wearing their gold graduation gowns.

As they fix themselves for the next round of pictures, Natsu fixes his gown and cords just as a flash of blonde hair catches his attention before disappearing into the crowd. He tries following the owner of the golden hair before realizing that it isn't who he was looking for.

This happens a lot no matter where he goes. Any trace of the familiar golden color has him searching desperately for the owner only to be later disappointed that it isn't who he thought it would be. It always leaves him feeling emptier than before with his already broken heart cracking even more. Six months was not enough time to get over the pains he went through and something told him that he would never get over this at all.

"Natsu," at the sound of his name he looks up into the dark eyes of Ur Milkovich who stares at him with that sympathetic look that he hates so much. It's bad enough that he knows that he is broken, but to be reminded through other people's eyes is more than he can bear.

Giving the most convincing smile he can, Natsu throws his arms around Both Lyon's and Gray's shoulders. His smile is large and toothy, almost like the ones he used to give, and before his smile can disappear Ur takes the picture. Even though she knows it was forced, the smile Natsu gave is as genuine as it will ever get for some time now.

Once the Milkovich woman deems that Natsu has played his part, she allows him to go search for his father who is no doubt hanging around with Gildarts Clive. The two had been close friends for years to the point that Natsu even once called the orange haired male uncle. He still calls him that on occasion, but then again the young Dragneel hardly ever says anything at all now a days.

As he nears his father, a tall male dressed in a fancy suit with spiky orange hair and dark tinted sunglasses passes by him. Their shoulders barely brush but their eyes lock on each other in a silent exchange before moving on without a word. The older male has been just as silent taking the death of the beautiful blonde as hard as Natsu had. Both he and the young Heartfelia had been close friends since they were kids after all and it was also no secret that the orange haired male had a deep affection for his long lost friend.

"How are you holding up," Igneel asks after wrapping a large arm around his son's shoulders upon sight.

"I'm doing fine," he says while handing his cap and diploma over to his father, "I was attacked by Gray's mom just now."

"Ur's here," Gildarts asks with a start while looking around the crowd that surrounds them.

"Yeah, they were over by the gates…" and without another word the man is gone leaving dust trailing in his wake.

It was no secret that Gildarts Clive and Ur Milkovich were friends from college having graduated from the same university. They had lost communication with each other after graduation and it wasn't until a few years back that Gildarts learned that Ur had moved to Iceberg a year after she graduated and made a family of her own. It was a big surprise when Gildarts learned that she had never married but had three wonderful children and that she was doing perfectly well.

Classmates Natsu had somewhat continued to talk to surrounded him wanting to take pictures and talking about the different colleges they were going to attend in the summer and next fall. Natsu had decided, along with Gray and Gajeel, to attend the University of Magnolia which was just a train ride away from Magnolia town. A few of their friends would also be joining them at UM while a few others were even going as far as the Pergrande Kingdom to study.

Hearing the successful paths his students were taking, Makarov could feel himself puff up with pride as he watched his brats with a proud expression. He even felt joy at watching the Dragneel males interact happily after having being kept apart for such a long time. While he watched the aforementioned males, he failed to notice a certain dark blonde male dressed in a taupe business suit heading his way until he felt a heavy hand on his shoulder.

"JUDE," the older man exclaimed upon seeing his former son-in-law standing before him with a bright expression on his face, "W-what are you doing here?"

The interaction between both males caught Natsu's attention as he watched them recognizing Jude Heartfelia from a few pictures he had seen around Makarov's office. He'd never met the man in person and knew little enough to know that Jude Heartfelia was a business man that owned both a trading and railway company and was wealthy. His late wife had been Makarov's oldest daughter and he was also the father of…

He couldn't bear to say the name, much less think about it. Six months and it was still too hard to think about her.

"Sorry I haven't been able to visit sooner," Mr. Heartfelia says while shaking Makarov's hand seemingly unaware of the older man's deep surprise, "Wow, this place hasn't changed a bit," Jude says while taking in the view of the high school his wife had once attended when she was younger.

"Jude, w-what are you doing here," Makarov asks again, his voice trembling with anxiety. It didn't make sense, without his daughter alive there should be no reason for Jude Heartfelia to even step foot inside of Magnolia.

"Oh, I had a business meeting up in the neighboring town of Acalypha and we decided to come down to Magnolia and visit."

"We?" Laxus, who had now joined the conversation, asked with a curious quirk of his brow. Had Jude finally found a new partner after all these years?

Looking into the crowd behind him, Natsu watches as Jude waves his hand seeming to be beckoning for someone to come towards him. Everyone waits in a suspenseful silence as they wait for the new mysterious person to emerge from the crowd.

The first thing Natsu notices is a head of golden hair that trails behind the blonde as she makes her way towards Jude. For a moment Natsu's heart, which he's rendered dead until this moment, leaps in his chest almost knocking the air out of him. He stumbles backwards a bit crashing into his dad who holds him with a steady hand.

"What's wrong," he asks, worry evident in his usually gruff voice, but Natsu just can't seem to think of the words to speak, much less gather the energy to breathe. All the air has been sucked out of him and all he can do is stare at the beautiful blonde only a few feet away.

It's impossible.

This just can't be possible.

How is this in any way possible?!

He didn't know what to do or think because not a few feet away stood an exact replica of her, of Lucy Heartfelia. She who stole his heart and held so many secrets. She who always smiled and left a warm sensation filling all around him. She who died in his arms six months ago.

If Makarov was surprised, he doesn't show it, instead he opens his arms and wraps his granddaughter in a tight hug. She hugs him back giving that smile that leaves Natsu's legs feeling like putty and has his heart jumping once again in his chest. He's also frozen in place, dark amber eyes watching the girl's every move as she greets her family members. He doesn't even hear his father call him trying to take him out of his trance.

Natsu wants nothing more than to run towards her and pull her into his arms and just never let go. He wants to run, and he does, but in the opposite direction of the blonde.

"Natsu!"

Chocolate brown eyes look up at the sound of the name and a flash of pink catches her eye before disappearing into the sea of people that surround her.

Strange.

Looking out over the hill I stare at the descending sun as I suppress my mind from thinking about her. I still can't believe she's back and I don't understand how it could be possible at all. My father said she had been a poltergeist and severing her connection to this world should have erased her from this world. It just didn't make any sense at all.

Sighing, close my eyes and hang my head backwards while supporting myself with my arms. I can feel a small breeze blow past me and it helps cool my warm face. It's funny because I have hardly ever felt warm or cold in my entire life. After meeting her I had gone through a lot of changes both physically and mentally.

Keeping my eyes closed, I wonder why I had come to this spot. It's the Sakura hill Lucy used to come to see the stars at night. The very hill where I last held her in my arms a lifetime ago. I tend to come here a lot when I want to be alone and no one ever seems to bother me when I'm here. Even now I'm sure that everyone is looking for me after I ran off almost two hours ago, but no one has seemed to show up. They probably think I need my space and they couldn't be more right.

I need to think things through before I make my next move. One thing is for sure; I'm going to try to keep my distance from Lucy, at least up until I can sum up the courage to come up to her again.

"Wow, this place is beautiful!" Snapping my eyes open I look up to find Lucy standing a few feet away from me as she stares down at the town with a hand shading over her eyes, "This place would probably be good to stargaze at night," she continues while leaning a bit forward as if she were standing near the edge of a cliff.

Stunned by her very presence, I blink a few times before she turns to look at me with a wide smile.

"Sorry," she says while standing up straight, "Did I bother you?"

Lost for words, I shake my head and look down at my hands feeling my cheeks burn up a bit in embarrassment. How the hell did she find this place?

"Your name is Natsu right," she then asks and I feel my heart stop as I whip my head around to look at her again and for a second I think that she might remember, but I'm once again proven wrong, "Your friend Gray told me what your name was when I asked him after I noticed that you ran off. He said that you were a weirdo and had coals for brains," she says with a giggle that leaves my toes curling with joy.

Her words rub of what Gray told her rub me in the wrong way and it takes everything in me not to shout and go running after that ice prick. Instead I muster the courage to mutter, "He's an idiot," causing her to smile even wider.

"The sunset is beautiful," she then murmurs while looking back out towards the horizon, "I love the soft shades of orange and yellow that it gives off and if you look close enough you can see hints of pink."

I look at the sunset again noticing that she was right. Hidden within the hues of orange and what remained of the blue sky where small hints of pink. It's funny to just barely notice the color now after all the sunsets I've seen.

Lucy continues to stare at the sunset while holding her hands together behind her back. Her soft smile looks peaceful in the evening light that glows against her fair skin like candlelight. Her golden hair looks almost on fire and her eyes burn with radiance that only make me realize how much I missed her. Even her voice is enough to break down the barriers I had built for myself during her absence. If only she knew how much I want to tell her everything even when she might not realize it herself.

"You know," I look up at the sound of her soft voice, "I once met a boy a long time ago that made me chase him throughout town. I had asked him if we could be friends and he said that he wasn't friends with people who were slow and he would only be friends with me if I could catch him," she shakes her head a bit, eyes twinkling with hidden mirth as she continues with her familiar story, "Determined to make him my friend, I ran after him through town but no matter how fast I ran he was always just out of my reach. Even when he would mock me by telling me to give up I still ran after him."

"You wanted to be friends that bad with him," I can't help asking and she finally looks down at me and nods her head, "Why?"

Tilting her head, she thinks about it for a minute before shrugging her shoulders nonchalant and sitting down next to me while saying, "I don't, I just really wanted for him to be my friend," She then stays quiet as she tucks up her legs and leans her chin on her knees while wrapping her arms around her legs, "When I had first seen him he had looked lonely and somehow I thought we were the same because I was lonely as well."

"Did you ever catch him," I ask as I look back out at the already darkening sky feeling my voice slightly crack.

She beams a proud smile and nods cheerfully, "I did," she admits while tilting her head to the side and sighing deeply, "I caught him just as he was about to fall over a cliff he hadn't even noticed." I suck in a breath suddenly realizing that the strange noise I had been hearing was my heart hammering in my chest. I was paying so much attention to her words that I didn't even notice how hard it was getting to breathe, "He was congratulating me on being able to catch him and I swear that I'll never forget the relieved look he gave me when he said that. It's almost as if he thought that I wasn't going to catch him."

Her eyes shift over towards me but I evade them by continuing to look at the setting sun. I try to swallow, but a lump that's formed has made it near impossible to do so. I can even feel my eyes burn because I sincerely believe that this is a dream.

"He saved my life," Lucy whispers loud enough for me to hear, "I had somehow slipped on the edge of the cliff and fell just after he accepted to be my friend, but he saved me."

Closing my eyes, I feel a few tears escape my eyes and their descent down my cheeks is fast and cold.

Was this really happening?

"Luce…" I try to say, but I can't continue after saying her nickname.

"That's what he called me when he carried me towards the hospital," he murmurs, a sweet content smile on her face, "Luce was the nickname he had given me right before I passed out and never saw him again."

Placing my shaking hands down on the ground beside me, I stare at my shoes and my discarded graduation gown which lies on the ground just beside my feet, "Did you ever find him," I can't help but ask even though deep down I know the answer.

Lucy smiles as she places her thin hand over my own and intertwines her fingers through my own and her hand, which used to be as cold as ice, is now as warm as my own. Even when I had first seen her a year ago at the hospital I remember her hands always being a little cool compared to now.

"I did," she says, her hand giving me an encouraging squeeze, "I didn't remember him and he didn't remember me, but I found him and he kept his promise in being my friend, even when he wasn't supposed to. He was there for me when I needed him and in the end he ended up saving my life once again making it possible for me to find him one last time."

Finally looking at her, fresh tears slip down Lucy's face which is full of color and is a perfect picture of health. The paleness she had once possessed from her anemia is gone and her skin glows a perfect peach. I know that she's no longer sick and the thought that she is healthy and here so close for me to hold leaves me far more speechless than I've ever been. Gray would be so surprised.

"Natsu," Lucy whispers, her head inching slowly in my direction, "I promise to never forget you again if you promise to always catch me."

When I look at her I am completely captivated with her glowing appearance. The happiness within me could fill a thousand hot air balloons and keep them flying forever, and it was all because she was here. Her hand in mine was like the best prize in the entire universe and her lips against mine make explosions across the sky.

"Deal," I murmur before finally, after an eternity of waiting, I wrap my arms around her and pull her as close to me as I can.

There are so many questions I want to ask her. I want to know how it is that she survived and how she had regained her memories. I want to ask what was swimming through her mind and all of the questions that she might be wanting to ask of me, but instead I relish in the view of her very presence.

I take in her appearance loving the way the fiery colors of the setting sun set her ablaze like a wildflower that only I can hold. She's my princess and I'm her dragon and no amount of villains could keep the two of us apart. It's been proven enough times now that no matter what happens we'll always find a way back to each other and I couldn't have made a better wish than that.

With the last rays of the setting sun, I realize one thing I never realized before.

Just how Lucy claims that I've saved her life in truth it has always been the other way around. She saved me five years ago from falling down the cliff in Hargeon and in a small way she's saved me countless other times after that. I had been wild and uncontrollable, but once she showed up I didn't get in as much trouble as I had before. The cold exterior I had used to keep people away was removed after she unknowingly tore it down with her own hands. She saved my heart from turning cold and from the loneliness I never knew I felt. She was the light that pulled me from the darkness I never knew I stood under.

Lucy Heartfelia was another hero in the form of a beautiful princess who loved and saved a lonely dragon.

I guess in the end the story was wrong, but that's the fun thing about Fairy Tales, you can just go out and make your own.

So Lucy is not a poltergeist and if any of you figured that out you are amazing. Yeah I may have said in some shout outs that she is a poltergeist but that was to keep the suspense rolling. Poltergeists are known for their abnormal abilities while astral bodies are just wandering spirits, but not once did Lucy use her powers. Did no one really spot that?

Also, those who thought that the last chapter was really the last chapter. How evil do you think I really am? There was still so much to explain like how Lucy became an astral body in the first place and why those dreams she had had near the beginning of the story were important. Go to chapter 2 when she meets everyone for the first time. There you'll see how when Lucy looks at Natsu he seems familiar but she doesn't know from where. Plus! Why do you think the memory erasing process worked less and less every time they used it on her? It's because it becomes less effective on the person making it more possible for her to remember stuff which is why when she woke up for the last time she was able to remember things that should not have happened but did.

For a reviewer who once told me that maybe her dad knew, yes he knew she was an astral body. He knew of the dark world because of Layla's death and since then he wasn't able to allow his daughter to return to such a dangerous place. He sends her to Magnolia in the end because somehow he found out of Lucy being an astral body and not knowing what to do sent her to her grandfather's to see if something could be done for her. He knew she was slowly becoming a poltergeist like her mother and knew that if something wasn't done soon she would never be able to return as an ordinary human ever again.

Lucy's body was actually back in the Hargeon hospital and somehow she was able to survive being an astral body for five years. She's strong that way.

If you didn't see the clues that explained all of this, well now you have better knowledge and you'll probably understand the story if you read it all over again.
