Dorothy awoke the next morning to the feeling of sadness. She had a feeling this would be the last time for a while that she would be in Oz. however father time had called upon them and said that he would keep time running in parallel between the two worlds as a thank you gift to her for saving all of Oz as well as every other world that would have been affected. As she got out of bed and changed into her normal outfit she sighed and wished that she had more time. But she and Alex had stayed in Oz long enough now and it was about time for them to go home. As she slid the slippers on she decided that she would try to check in on her friends from time to time with help from Ellie. As she walked out of her closet she wasn't surprised to find Alex already sitting on the bed.
"Well, are you ready?" Alex asked getting up.
"Yep." Dorothy said getting out her ribbon of keys.
"You know, I'm going to miss this place." Alex said.
"So am I, but it's not going to be the last we see of it, I'm sure." Dorothy said smiling.
"I'm sure, I mean, what would Oz do without you?" Alex asked starting for the door.
"Probably keep on as it normally does and then call me if things get really dire?" Dorothy suggested as they walked out and Dorothy shut and locked the door behind them.
"Probably, that sounds about right." Alex said.
Dorothy smiled and they walked to the chambers in silence. At least it was silent until they bumped into Wiser.
"O-oh Dorothy, Alex, I was sent to check and see if you two were ready." Wiser said.
"Yea, we're ready Wiser." Dorothy said hugging him.
"They wanted to send Finley but he was reluctant because he didn't want to wake you in case you were still asleep." Wiser said returning the embrace.
Dorothy smiled and looked at Alex who also had a smile on his face. When they did eventually get to the chambers Dorothy wasn't surprised this time to find almost everyone waiting for her and Alex, the exception being Brianna. The first people her mind turned to were Alyssa and Terrance.
"You two, take care of yourselves, also if you do get married, let me know I would like to be there for it." Dorothy said.
"Don't worry Dorothy, we will." Alyssa said kissing Terrance on the cheek causing him to blush.
"Alison, keep up the studying and practicing, Elena, be the best nurse you can be, Chrissy, keep yourself busy, and Caitlyn, you too, also give my regards to Brianna." Dorothy said.
The girls quickly ran over to Dorothy and embraced her and Alex in a group hug. After they were done Alex turned to finely who was sitting on a ledge a good distance away.
"Finley, be good, do as you're told." Alex said.
"Yes sir." Finley said saluting.
Alex smiled and turned to Dorothy who was walking over to her three best friends.
"You three, try to have some adventures without me while I'm away, just fill me in on the good bits when it's all over with." Dorothy said.
The three of them said nothing, they simply pulled Dorothy into an embrace. Dorothy then turned to the china princess and marshal mallow. She opened her mouth to say something but they cut her off.
"Dorothy, like Glinda said yesterday Oz is forever in your debt and if there's ever anything you need don't hesitate to call on us." The princess said.
"Believe me, if anything comes to mind where I need either of you for anything, I'll get in touch." Dorothy said embracing them.
When they released from the embrace Marshall Mallow turned to Alex.
"You would make a wonderful soldier." Marshal mallow said saluting.
"Thank you, sir." Alex said saluting back.
Dorothy giggled and grabbed Alex by the hand.
"Dorothy, are you ready to go home now?" Glinda asked walking over to her.
Dorothy looked at Glinda and smiled.
"Glinda, try to drop in from time to time, with Ellie and your parents staying in my world, you do have a reason to visit now." Dorothy said.
"But Ellie won't be able to stay all the time, if I'm to busy she has to do my job, but dad seems to like his job to much to leave." Glinda said.
"I figured as much." Dorothy said smiling.
"Right, anyways, are you two ready?" Glinda asked.
"You know, it's funny, when I think about it, Oz has become my second home." Dorothy said.
"Well, what do you think about when you think of home?" The princess asked curiously.
"Home?" Dorothy asked as she took Alex's hand.
"Yea, I was wondering that as well" Alex said.
Dorothy smiled and squeezed Alex's hand tightly. And the words came out like a song

And with that Dorothy looked at Alex and smiled. She then looked at her friends one last time
"I wish Alex and me to return home" Dorothy said as she clicked her heels together
And with that Dorothy and Alex felt themselves lurch forward and they were on their way home.
