P.S Thank You so much to Francesca Brine for leaving that sweet review last chapter that made my day today. BTW, I updated chpt 29 yesterday so you were head on. I couldn't reply since reviewed as a guest. Thanks again.

Eren stares at Levi from behind a nearby house. He'd seen Luca coming back at the Military Police headquarters with Mikasa and they both looked thoroughly pissed. When he'd asked Mikasa what'd happened she only told him that something was wrong with Soul and for him not to get involved. Normally it is hard to read Mikasa but now the worry on her face was obvious. He couldn't not know what was going on. He left the building, giving the guards the excuse that Luca had given him an assignment. He's had approximately 30 minutes before they find out something isn't right. He'd run to the house and seen Levi walking through the rain.

His first instinct was to run up to the captain and hug him but something rang in his head that he shouldn't get involved. If the Military Police happen to see him with Levi, then the captain would be punished. Now he has been lead here, to Ava's house where Levi is down on one knee, possibly in tears.

He ducks back around the building, struggling to control the urge not to jump out and embrace Levi. It pisses him that Levi chose this destination to sulk. Why Ava's house? He isn't even aware of how much he's been betrayed and Eren is a part of it. But it won't be much longer. He'll get what he's been after for this past year. He takes a deep breath and looks back around the corner. To his misfortune, Levi was no longer there. His heart rate picks up as he scans the area, fearing that he's been caught, but Levi is no where in sight.

Eren calms down a bit, moving his wet hair from out of his face. He considers the options for his next move. Mikasa mentioned Soul which means she's here and there is something really serious going on, but he can't risk going to see her now. With these thoughts in mind, he heads back to the Military Police building. Because night has fallen, few soldiers scour the halls.

He goes back to his room, where his roommate for a few months has already changed out of his uniform. "Hey, where have you been? You're soaked."

"How many times have you asked me that question since you've known me?"

Dietrich smiles. "Twice a day."

"And the answer is always the same."

"Right. For a walk. At night. In the rain. You never disappoint, Eren. But I guess I can't blame you."

Dietrich is from the trainee squad before Eren's, 103rd. He was of course the top 10 of his squad and chose the Military Police but he isn't much older than Eren is. The two are different in many ways. Dietrich has never seen a titan and is much more relaxed than Eren, but this works in Eren's favor. Dietrich is too trusting and careless when it comes to certain subjects.

"So, you remember that Doctor that just got murdered right?"

Dietrich gives Eren a curious stare. "Duh, we were talking about him two nights ago. What about him now?"

"I expected us to look more into his death. Why do you think we didn't?"

"Look man," Dietrich sighs. "I know that since you've dealt with titans you're much serious about death but the Military Police doesn't really care. I'm not afraid to admit it. I'm just here to save my ass and that's why 90% of theses lowly bastards are trying to do."

"So you think they are intentionally putting it off to cover themselves up."

"Well when you put it like that it sounds..."

"Like what?" Eren interrupts. "It's not any worse than the way you put it."

"It sounds like treason."

"You think it's not?"

Dietrich looks over at the floor and Eren raises an eyebrow. "What?"

Dietrich walks over to the door, peaks out and shuts it. He walks close to Eren and starts to whisper. "You can't tell anyone this. I'm telling you because you're a a part of the military police now. All military police know what's floating within these walls. I've been hearing that the doctor was working with one of the Elders of the military police."

"Elders?"

"Cmon Eren! You've already met one. The older soldiers who call the shots. Then the doctor got mixed up with the Scouting Legion. It's against the rules here to get mixed up with that lot and so everyone has to deal with punishment. He tried to run."

"Right, that's what you guys call them. Why would they punish anyone for talking to the Legion?"

"I don't even want to talk to them. They are all crazy in the head. They see death every other week and are insane enough to want to fight more titans. There are conspiracy theories and coup rumors. Not to mention the..." Dietrich stops when he remembers who he's talking to. "Sorry. Not you of course. You've clearly come to your senses, joining us and all."

Eren smiles. "Thanks man. I'm going to go to the bathroom." He walks out of the room and shuts the door. He is just barely able to conceal is anger. The fucking Military Police are out of their minds. He punches a wall but is sure not to destroy it in. He rests his head on the concrete and slides down. The elders. The elders. Yes. Eren knows who the elders are. The elders. The ones who have connections everywhere. The eyes and ears of the Military Police who make the decisions and only a select few people know their identities, Eren being one of those few.

Soleanna crosses his mind. He wants to see her.

"What are you doing?"

Eren looks up to see Mikasa standing next to him. Does she even have foorsteps? He hadn't heard her at all. Quickly he straightens up. "Nothing."

"Try not to look in so much distress all of the time."

"Yeah, I know."

"Can you tell me about Soleanna? What's wrong?" He begs. She grabs his arm and yanks him down the hall to her room. She shuts the door and he looks around the dark space. "Where is Lucy?"

Mikasa rolls her eyes at the very thought of her preppy roommate. "She has night watch duty. Now, listen. I'm not entirely sure what's going on but it has to do with the herbs. Reiner attacked Soul. She is barely clinging on to life and it's all because of that damn flower. We need to make a move. People are going to die!" Eren grabs on to her hands and she stops talking. Only then does she realize that her breathing is heavy and she was starting to raise her voice.

"I'll fix this. I'll... I'll..."

"You'll do what, Eren?"

"I'll do something." He thinks back to seeing Levi this morning and then tonight. The lance has been holding so much in. He's been dealing with so much on his own. Eren squeezes Mikasa hands and looks at the floor, barely able to find his voice. "I'll do something." Mikasa pulls Eren's still body into a hug, trying to take away the pain that he too is holding in. He pushes her away. "I don't need that right now."

Mikasa sorrowfully looks at him. "I'll fight with you."

"I know... I'll need the strength."

Mikasa knows what he is beating himself up over. Only she knows, but she doesn't have the same guilt on the subject. "When are you going to tell him?"

"I'm not," Eren sighs.

"You have to..."

"I'm not going to tell him! Levi doesn't deserve that."

"So what are you going to do?"

"I'm going to kill her."

Mikasa steps back to get a good look at him and sees that he's serious. She can't help but yell now. "Are you out of your fucking mind! You can't do that."

He turns his back to her and opens the door. Before walking out and leaving her in the dark he mutters the words, "just watch me."

The next day he walks throughout the Military Police headquarters, planning out his first move carefully. He comes to a door guarded by a man he knows. "Good Morning, Nyland."

"Morning, Eren."

"I need to talk to Luca. Labs want him to sign off on a few things."

Nyland scrunches his nose while considering his options and simply shrugs his shoulders. "You're the Caps right hand man so I guess he wouldn't mind. But he's got a guest so make it quick." The tall soldier opens the door, letting Eren in. Eren takes a few steps into the office only to see Luca standing across from Levi.

Eren literally wants to explode. The timing couldn't be any worse. Seriously! Why Now!?

"Eren! Good to see you! How are things?" Luca greets with a smug expression. Levi looks deadly. He really looks like he wants to kill the next thing that speaks.

"The labs want you to sign off on some paperwork involving recent studies and developments."

Luca takes the paper, barely looking at it. "Oh, ok. Thank you for letting me know."

Eren is surprised by this. The man barely even looked at the paper. Maybe Levi being here isn't such a bad thing. Luca's center of focus is completely thrown off. Eren takes the paper back and walks out of the room with an delay. Eren had accidentally snuck a look at Levi and he seemed to have caught on. Eren was trying to drop hints with every word he spoke. Although it wasn't much, Levi now knows that there is a lab of some sort.

Ok, phase 1 complete. Eren hurries outside and across the district where he knows his roommate his. When Dietrich sees Eren he smiles brightly and waves. Eren greets him with a forced smile. "Hey, Dietrich. Luca needs you to run him an errand."

Already the older male is skeptical about this. "What is it?"

"He wants you to deliver this status report to survey corps and explain our status with the herbs."

"What! But I thought we had to stay away from them! Why would we collaborate."

"Beats me. I'm just following orders. They were talking as if it's more of status update since the legion came with us beyond the wall and all. You did know about this right?"

"Yeah," Dietrich sighs. "I think I did hear it mention it." He snatches the paper from Eren. "I guess I can take care of this now."

"Sounds good. Make sure you talk to Hange. And tell her in good detail the progress of the plant. The scouting legion have been making frequent trips to headquarters lately and you don't want them there because they misunderstood what you told them."

"Yeah. Yeah. I'll see you later."

Eren nods and runs in the opposite direction. Phase 2 Complete. On his way back to the Military Police building he sees one of his "fellow soldiers" and stops to talk. "Hey!"

"What."

Eren walks closer and starts to whisper. "Did you hear? A military police was seen getting close with the survey corps. I heard info about the herbs have been getting leaked."

Now the soldier seems interested. "Who was it? Do you know?"

"I heard it was Dietrich Loufer." Eren says. The soldier nods and Eren smiles. "Well good day." With that he walks away and moves to the next soldier. The rumor has spread like wild fire before lunch. By 2 o' clock Eren is having the meeting that was scheduled with Luca.

Luca is clearly troubled by the countless rumors about Military Police being leaked by Dietrich. "Is something wrong sir?" Eren asks innocently.

"No." He gets on the topic of the purpose of their meeting. "No..." He tries to shake his thoughts. "I want to talk to you about your service with the Military Police. The arrest over the scouting legion will be over soon, which means we will lose most of our reign over them."

"Yes sir?"

"You need to pledge you eternal loyalty with the Military Police."

"Eternal Loyalty?" Eren raises an eyebrow. This is not what he expected this meeting to entail.

"Yes. Don't question it. You are a part of the Military Police now and we can't have you betraying us." Luca huffs out a laugh. "Doesn't it feel good to be up in the ranks and no longer a test rat for the labs? I will admit I probably went a bit overboard when they requested my assistance but that is behind us."

Eren noticeably cringes at the thought of his "testing days". He was probed, picked, and abused just to test his limits and abilities. "Ok," Eren mumbles. "I'll do the pledge."

Luca smiles devilishly. "Good let me get it written up and..."

"But I want to have more of a part in the military police. No secrets. I want to know what you plan to do with those herbs."

"There you go again. Saying things like that will get you killed Eren."

Luca reaches in his desk and pulls out papers. Eren looks out of the window and realizes how late it's getting. Things are running more off schedule than he'd hoped. Just when he is starting to worry, the cue he was waiting for sounds. There are screams. Loud screams. Angry screams and they are getting closer to the office. In seconds the door bursts open. Their attention goes to the door and standing there is Dietrich, 2 guards holding onto him.

"Eren!" Dietrich is clearly furious and well aware of what is happening. "You did this! I'm going to kill you!"

Luca stands up and suddenly has a sword in his hand. Good to know he keeps that behind his desk. Luca sees the weapon and breaks away from the guards. "I'll get you Eren." With that, he runs away from the door.

Luca sighs with annoyance as the other two chase after the traitor. "If you will excuse me." Luca walks out of the room and Eren sits in the chair, slightly amused. That's when he notices the opening. The open file is one Luca's desk. Oh the convenience! Eren runs to the other end of the desk and flips through the papers. There are nothing but pledges. Pledges. More freakin pledges.

He then goes in the other drawers and scatters through folders. That's when he notices one with the title "rebuild". He opens it up and flips through it. There are a lot of essays but something catches his eyes. There are pictures. First are pictures of the herbs. They are beautiful white flowers. Then there is extensive detail about them. He then sees a photo of himself. Then one of Reiner. Ymir. and there is one of Berthold. He then comes across the picture of Annie but written across her face in black ink is the word "dead".

Eren's heart rate speeds up. What the hell is this all supposed to mean? Rebuild? He hears more commotion outside of the door and puts the folder back. He runs out and sees that Military Police are spotting the halls. "What's going on?" Eren asks a random soldier.

"Dietrich got away. We want to find him before sun down."

Eren's eyes go wide. Phase 3 complete. Now he needs to find Dietrch before the others do. There's only one place Eren can think he'd go. A place that no one should know about. Eren runs through the district. The sun is setting on the horizon and the streets are slowly becoming more empty. He soon finds it. Dietrich's house. He's told him about it a few times now while they were in the room.

Eren opens the door and immediately regrets it. Yes. He has done it. Run to the house of a person who now wants to kill him, unarmed. What he finds inside only shocks him slightly. He is too late. This part he hadn't expected to turn out so perfectly.

Standing with the sword in her hand is one of the Military Police Elders. Although called an elder she appears as healthy as a 20 year old. Her gray hair hangs over her shoulders and Eren becomes enraged, wanting to stab her where she stands. This is the second time he has been in the presence of the person he hates most. The person who lied to and betrayed Levi. The person who hurt Levi most and gave out all of the scouting legions secrets. The only reason Eren stayed in the Military Police.

Ava stands in the middle of the house, a knife to Dietrich's throat. Her expression is knowing and grave before turning into a jeering smile. "I'm glad you could make it Eren. This is what you wanted right? That is why you staged this entire act."

Eren takes a cautious step forward. "Let him go Ava! You know he didn't do anything. It was all staged by me."

Ava pulls back her hand and slits Dietrich's throat. He falls to the floor, dead. Ava shrugs. "My hand slipped." Her eyes now bore down into Eren. "What were you expecting to get out of this? To save his life and have evidence that I killed the doctor. To give the scouting regiment information?"

"Ava, Levi trusted you! How could you?"

"Levi is weak and stupid. Tch. I knew I should've killed you when I had the chance. I won't pass it up this time." With great power she lunges towards Eren. He is ready to dodge, but just before he does a loud "cling" fills the air. It is the sound of metal colliding with metal. Eren hadn't even seen him.

Levi has blocked Ava's blade with his own and pushes her back. Frustration floods her face and Eren is full of surprise, but more of sadness. "Levi."

"Shut up," he growls.

"I'm sorry."

Eren can only imagine his pain. He is looking in the face of the person he once called a mother, now trying to kill him. The person who once called him mother has betrayed his trust. "I'm ending this here and you're coming back to the scouting regiment." Levi hisses in response.

Ava smirks. "Is that so?" She sighs sarcastically. "Levi. I thought I'd done such a great job raising you. Oh well, any last words?"

Levi furrows his eyebrows, hate filling his aura. "You're going to wish you died in that fire."

The seriousness in his voice radiates through the house and suddenly Ava's expression changes. Her eyes soften as she looks at him. "Levi. I'm trying to infiltrate the Military Police. You need to believe me. I'm trying to do the right thing. I would never do anything to hurt you. I've been faking all of this. I can't risk being caught. I faked my death because I didn't want you to get involved. They are planning to bring...arghhh." Blood decorates the walls and shes falls to the floor.

"I don't care anymore."

Eren can't believe what he's just witnessed. All he can do is walk, step by step, towards Levi. He places his hand on Levi's, prying the bloodied sword from his clinched fingers. It drops to the floor with a clank. Eren walks around him so that they are facing one another and does the only thing he can think to do. He wraps his arms around Levi, his hand holding the back of his head. His tears drop onto Levi's head. The Captain does not budge, staying still and showing no more emotion. All of his emotion was wasted those days he'd cried in front of Ava's house.

All his mind can do now is search the lies he'd been fed for who knows how long. He stands there like a dead shell, the only existing thing being Eren's touch. That's right. Eren's touch. That's all that matters. Eren.

LLL- yeah... i was listening to Glassy Sky, a tokyo ghoul ost, when writing this. So it ended depressing. Sorry about that. Tokyo ghoul is sad and annoying because it's sad. So sad. Just save yourself the sadness and don't watch tokyo ghoul if you don't want to be angry and cry. I didn't like the anime and still cried. -_- And love the osts. Any way. Review
