Chapter 5

After Mr Weasley had led them into number 12 and they had been shepherded into the kitchen, the 3 demigods were forced to sit at the long, wooden table where they were stared at curiously by a group of some of the strangest people they had ever met. Arthur's wife, a plump middle aged woman with flaming red hair named Molly, bustled round preparing food for her guest, declaring that they all looked to be 'skin and bone' and that they needed feeding up. While she was doing that, Lou, Nico and Jason tried to take in their surroundings.

From the looks of the place, the house had not been inhabited in many years and the previous occupants had not been nice people, especially as Nico could feel a dark aura radiating from everything, and the daughter of Hecate looked vaguely sick at the black magic floating around the building. For a while, no one spoke, but then, a grizzled old man with a wooden leg and oddly mobile eyes slouched through the door and dropped into one of the chairs before gazing at the three teens searchingly.

"These the other ones then?"

His tone was gruff and he seemed to talk past them, something that irritated the son of Hades, causing him to answer, cutting off whatever the woman with the bubblegum pink hair was going to say.

"We can speak you know… and what do you mean by 'other ones' were the only ones that our camp sent."

Behind him, he could have sworn that he heard Lou mutter something that sounded suspiciously like 'because we were the only ones stupid enough to take the job' but he ignored it in favor of glaring down the man who was now staring at him with both eyes pointing in the same direction, something that hadn't happened since he stepped into the room.

"I know perfectly well that you can speak kid, I was just asking people who knew more about the situation that you do. Anyway, the others aren't from your camp, they're Roman."

It was obvious that Nico was dying to reply with some sort of snarky come back, but at the word 'Roman' Jason had jumped to his feet like he was being electrocuted and, without a word to any of them, was sprinting out of the room leaving the wizards gaping after him. After a quick exchange of log suffering looks, the other two soon chased after him, catching up just outside of the room they had been told was theirs for the duration of their stay. For a moment, they all froze, not sure of how to proceed, but, after shrugging slightly, the daughter of Hecate pushed the door open slightly, poking her head through before stepping in properly to face the three other teens already situated there.

"Hey, we're the other demigods on this quest."

For a second, there was an awkward silence while the two sides looked each other up and down, apparently assessing the risk of the new faces, well, Lou and two of the others were, but the girl in the middle was staring right at Jason, face pale as though she was seeing a ghost, Nico was staring at the girl on the left with the darker skin, and Jason was absentmindedly looking at the asian guy on the right, mumbling something about the plane.

After working out that no one was going to say anything soon, the girl on the left who had held the son of Hades' attention stepped forwards, a warm smile on her face as she offered her hand to Lou.

"I know it'll take a while but let's go with the full titles, after all we will be working together." There were a few murmurs of agreement from the others so the girl carried on. "I'm Hazel Levesque daughter of Pluto, probatio of the fifth, 12th Legion fulminata."

At her words, a huge grin spread across Nico's face as he stepped forwards to drag his sister into a bear hug, not even noticing that the other girl stepped forwards, giving him the evil eye.

"I am Reyna, daughter of Bellona, Praetor of the 12th Legion fulminata, and senator of Rome."

Her voice was cold as she glared at Jason now and, faster than the others could follow, she stepped forwards and slapped the son of Jupiter hard across the face, sending him stumbling to the ground in shock. His face would have been comical had the others not been slightly intimidated by the Roman. Seemingly oblivious to the scene she was causing, she continued to stare at him before speaking in a tone that made her words seem like daggers.

"Aaaand." She drew out the word, hissing dangerously. "You, Jason Grace, owe me an explanation!"

Looking more than a little sheepish, the son of Jupiter pulled himself to his feet, ignoring the gasps from Hazel and the Asian guy, though he did turn to look expectantly at the latter motioning to Reyna that he would tell her later. Gulping slightly, as though not wanting to cross his senior officer, the boy stepped forwards with stiff movements and a rigid posture.

"I'm Frank Zahng undetermined and probatio of the fifth cohort, 12th Legion fulminata."

Lou frowned at the comment of undetermined, after Jackson's wish, that shouldn't happen anymore, though that may only apply to the Greeks. Shrugging slightly and deciding to find an answer to that later, she stepped forwards, flashing the 3 Romans a blinding smile.

"I am Lou Ellen, daughter of Hecate."

Once she finished, she stepped backwards and kicked Nico's ankle. Glaring a little, the son of Hades only rolled his eyes and gave a mock bow to the Romans making Reyna scowl and Hazel laugh slightly.

"You guys know me but, I am Nico Di Angelo son of Hades, the Ghost King, Ambassador to Pluto, and Hero of Olympus."

Reyna's expression went stony after that introduction, though she should have guessed that the Ghost King was Greek, he had never seemed to belong in the Legion and, although she had always believed that to be because of his parentage, this made a lot more sense. She was about to comment on it when Jason stepped forwards, looking like he was heading towards the gallows judging by the look on his face.

"My name is Jason, Son of Jupiter, Praetor of the 12th Legion fulminata, slayer of the Titan Krios, and the Trojan sea monster, Savior of Rome."

Jason stopped there, but a rumble of thunder above them made him pull a face like he was sucking on a lemon before adding.

"Oh, and Hera is my patron."

That comment made Nico chuckle deep in his throat, but the sound was cut short when he noticed that Jason was stood there with a panicked look on his face and the tip of a golden gladius at his throat. Oh yes, the explanation.

After letting out a long suffering sigh, the son of Hades stepped forwards, pushing the gleaming metal away with two fingers as though it had somehow offended him.

"Truce?" He offered, raising an eyebrow at the daughter of Bellona who looked about ready to gut him alive, something he quickly took not of as he quickly began speaking once again. "Jason can't explain if he has your sword between his vocal chords."

Although she looked as though she wanted nothing more than to stab the gothic boy in front of her, Reyna slowly lowered her blade, mindful of all the gazes being sent her way, and offered her hand to Jason in a wooden manner.

"Truce, for the present moment… Now, explain yourself!"

So, Jason began to retell everything that had happened to him in the last 6 months, from waking up on the coach with no memory, to the final battle at the wolf house, and, although he curiously glossed over his relationship with a certain daughter of Aphrodite, the story was long enough that the sun was setting outside their window when he finished speaking.

For a moment, it looked as though the Romans were thinking about what to say next, though thankfully, their leader had lost the murderous look in her eyes, but the son of Hades got there first, a panicked look in his eyes as he turned to them all.

"Wait… does this mean that Octavian is in charge of camp Jupiter right about now?"

Slowly, the daughter of Bellona nodded, not sure of where this conversation was going, so taking a careful root about it. There was another beat of silence before the ghost king whispered something in a voice so low that the others had to strain to hear him.

"Oh my gods, we are so doomed, when we get back, that place will have gone to the dogs… I mean, stuffed animals."

At this, the tension in the room finally broke and they all relaxed for the first time, laughing along at the joke as they imagined the streets of new Rome filled with Octavian's cuddly toys, well, all of them except the son of Hades, who had a smug look on his face, and the daughter of Hecate who was just looking around the chuckling teens with a bemused look on her face as though not sure what to make of it.

They were still laughing when the girl with the pink hair from earlier came up to lead them back to the kitchen from earlier for their first ever Order of the Phoenix meeting, but the mirth soon died at the serious expressions of all those present. Instinctively, all eyes turned to the obvious leader of the Order, a man with a flowing white beard and bright blue eyes that twinkled behind half moon glasses. Noticing that none of the others were going to speak, Nico rolled his eyes and stepped forwards.

"You're Dumbledore." The statement was blunt, much more of a statement than a question, after all, there was only one person this man could be, but he didn't seem to mind the rudeness, in fact, it just made him smile all the brighter as he looked at him.

"Yes I am. And you are…"

"Nico Di Angelo, son of Hades. But to your students I'm a powerful Necromancer."

That comment seemed to throw the man as his forehead creased in concentration, he didn't seem too happy about the last part of Nico's statement, something that amused the son of Hades greatly.

"There is no magic that can bring back the dead." He replied gravely.

A slight giggle in the group behind the ghost king made the old man's eyes snap up and lock onto Hazel's face as she blushed bright crimson, but stepped forwards to join her brother all the same, shooting him a 'be nice' look when she noticed the sour expression on his face.

"We don't bring them back to life. Father tries not to let his subjects escape after all. We merely bring back shades, shadows, skeletons, or ghosts. Even with the doors of death open we can't bring back the dead completely. He is to go searching for the doors when this quest is over. Oh, and I'm Hazel Lavesque by the way, daughter of Pluto and this moron's sister, in a way."

She shot him a glare as she said bit about the doors, one that he studiously ignored by looking in the opposite direction, but at least Dumbledor looked a little more at ease now, infuriating old fool. In the silence that followed, all the other demigod's introduced themselves and the old wizard turned back to all of them as a group.

"You are probably wondering why you are all here?" the demigods all nodded, "there is a wizard at large not unlike a titan himself. His name is Voldemort. A prophecy was created concerning this man and a boy named Harry Potter."

At this Lou burst out into yet another fit of giggles, but when she noticed all the dark looks being sent her way by the Order members, she soon straightened up and shrugged.

"Sorry, there's a boy like that at our camp called Percy, he had the prophecy saying that he was either going to save the world, or destroy it. I was just remembering his face when he found out, I thought he was going to faint."

Her voice turned gleeful towards the end and she didn't seem to notice the scared glances being thrown her way. Behind her back, Frank made the mental motion towards her causing the adults to smile a little, but Dumbledor soon went back to his explination.

"The prophecy destines one to destroy the other. Voldemort is determined to reach Harry first. You will be tasked with watching over Harry during his stay at Hogwarts."

At this, the demigods just shrugged, that was actually a pretty tame prophecy by their standards, there were many that were much worse. As that thought passed through their heads, all the Roman's shared a look, the words of an old prophecy hanging in the air between them. 'To Fire or Storm the earth must fall…'

Seemingly oblivious to the suddenly tense atmosphere, the wizard pressed on, his grave look returning.

"And there's a catch. I do not think Chiron and Lupa's fronts will work. They are woefully ignorant of our world. Therefore, you will help teach lessons."

There was a strangled noise of protest from the teens as they all took on various expressions of shock, some of them even looking a little murderous. None of them had had particularly pleasant experiences in schools, and teaching was a different matter entirely, but their complaint was ignored as he carried on unfazed.

"No matter who you pose as, you are all American students who hope to be teachers. Frank you will work in muggle studies. Lou, you can work in charms. Hazel and Nico, you can work in Care of Magical Creatures. Reyna and Jason, you will teach combat."

As he finished, the room was filled with silence, and 6 deathly white demigods as they thought about what was going to happen.

Frank trying to explain what a normal type of life was like…

Lou being allowed to teach children any type of magic at all…

Nico and Hazel being asked to work with living creatures…

Jason and Reyna being actually permitted to beat each other's brains out on a daily basis…

For a moment longer, there was another stretch of silence and then…

"ARE YOU INSANE?"

B/N: Hee hee hee, I like this ending, poor old Dumbles getting shouted at though L anyway, time for the question:

What was Molly's maiden name?
