Chapter 11
Quinn gasped for air as she ran down the dark alley it was cold and it had been raining all night she turned the corner leaning against the brick wall catching her breath.
"I'm running…." She thought to herself.
"Why am I running?" Quinn took a deep breath standing up straight continuing to run.
"What am I running from?" She wondered.
"Fear." The voice answer; Quinn shot her eyes opening she was laying in the bed looking up at the ceiling her chest rising up and down from her hard breathing. Quinn sat up rubbing her face.
"Fucking dream…" She cursed she looked over out at the window the sun was shining she smiled for some reason this relaxed her. Quinn pulled the blanket off of her walking to the window looking out everything looked normal there were people out walking around attending their business. Quinn sighed enjoying the sight. After getting dressed Quinn stepped out of her room looking down the hall she stood looking at the room at the end.
"Vergil…" She made her way to the room standing in front of the closed door she took a deep breath and knocked. She waited a moment she could hear footsteps making their way to the closed door she kept her eyes to the ground till the door was opened.
"Vergil, about last night-"
"Who?" the voice asked Quinn shot her head up to see a strange man in front of her.
"W-who are you? What happened to the man in this room?" Quinn asked.
"Um might have checked out?" He suggested.
"Checked out? What!?" Quinn asked wide eyed. Quinn dashed down stair going to the one in charge of keeping tabs on the guest.
"Hey! What happened to the man upstairs with the long blue coat?!" Quinn asked as the older man stepped out.
"Guy in blue coat?" He asked.
"Yes that asshole!" Quinn added.
"He left last night." He replied.
"Last night?"
"Yeah."
"That jerk… he left me behind! I thought he needed me! What the hell!?" Quinn growled turning heading for the door.
"Excuse me?" the older man called out.
"About paying for the nights?" He asked only to have Quinn ignore him. She pushed the door open upset repeating the question on how he could simply leave her till it hit her.
"Why… am I getting upset for?" Quinn thought to herself.
"I was kidnapped and used as some tracking dog so that book…" Quinn closed her eyes shaking her head.
"What the hell is wrong with me...?" Quinn turned around looking ahead of her.
"I'm going home…"
Quinn panted wiping the sweat from her forehead she stood looking at the ruble in front of her she had gone back to where her "mother" had lived.
"What the fuck am I doing here?" Quinn asked herself upset with poor choice of coming back to this location. Quinn looked around no signs of Vergil she couldn't help but feel sad to not see him here.
"Tch… Why would he even be here?" Quinn asked herself as she made her way to the destroyed house, Quinn looked around everything was ruined finding the book wasn't going to be as easy as it would have been before.
"Well I did want the book for myself originally…" Quinn smirked clearly trying to make herself feel better about her choice of looking for Vergil. Quinn had spent a good amount of hours searching for the book.
"Ah!" Quinn cried her fingers were covered in dirt and her blood. She stood looking at them she clenched her fist ignoring the pain the wounds she had would heal anyway. Quinn threw the ruble aside digging through the ruble at her feet she stopped when she noticed the strange box.
"Is… this it?" She wondered she leaned down picking it up she set it aside opening it inside she gasped to see the old book.
"I… I found it!" She laughed.
"Oh My God!" She smiled she quickly cleaned her dirty hands on her clothes quickly opening the book she sat flipping through the book.
"I can seal all demons way…" She thought to herself.
"That would mean you as well, you moron." The voice spoke Quinn froze she knew who it was.
"S-So?" Quinn asked.
"Are you sure you're up for that little girl?"
"You're underestimating me." Quinn added.
"Ha! Am I know?"
"I seriously doubt it girl, you're scared of what you are of what you have become. If you seal all demons that includes you."
"Whatever it takes to protect innocent lives!"
"Oh you're good at pretending to give a shit! You're scared, you know damn well you will get dragged down to the demon world."
"I can handle it! I'm sure it's not as bad as what I faced up here-"
"Don't even start to think it will be the same! Because the shit you experience up here will be triple down there!" Quinn looked behind her gasping to see a spear flying towards her she quickly threw herself to the side to see the flying harpy in the air.
"What the hell is that!?" the demon harpy screeched loud making Quinn cover her ears.
"Aah! Shit!" Quinn opened her eye only to see the demon in front of her slashing its claws at her making her fall back covered in cuts.
"Aah!" Quinn cried in pain her arms were pinned down by its claws.
"Oh no!"
"Stupid girl! You're going to get us BOTH killed!" The voice yelled Quinn shut her eyes scared till her eyes shot back open pushing the demon off. Quinn laid on the ground panting her eyes now golden fangs showing. Quinn got herself up her body trembling.
"So… much power." She grinned holding her hand out in front of her, the harpy screamed coming at her again Quinn looked up taking a step forward in a blink of an eye she had her hand on the demons face crushing it into the ground.
"Shut up." Quinn growled crushing the demons face its wings flapping around till they fell to the ground. Quinn pulled her bloody hand away she stood looking at the dead demon.
"How… did you get that without me taking control…?" the demon's voice inside Quinn asked. Quinn tilted her head back a bit smiling as the figure behind her stepped out watching her.
"I'm learning." She replied, Vergil stood looking at her amused.
