As I said was I aiming for two today! This one is Jolene by Dolly Parton, the ship is Corney. Now, this one I'm doing because I wanted to do something with a song my grandpa used to sing to my mom when she was a kid, no her name isn't Jolene but the song stuck to her and she started singing it me a while back. No my name isn't Jolene either, if you read some of this author notes you would now that it's Ashley. She stopping back when I was 10 but she started playing it again today so I decided to do something with it. Enjoy!

After practice I walked home, slouching. I was annoyed at the moment. During practice all I could hear was an old song that played when me and Core first met at a western concert that was held at the park about eight years back. I couldn't get it out of my dang head. It was annoying me to pieces. All I could hear was the title of the song being sang by a female voice through my head. 'Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene!' And the rain didn't help either, it just made me more annoyed with the song as it played through my head like a radio station on repeat. The female voice sounded familiar though, that's what annoyed me the most... Not knowing who the singer was. Then I remember the reason why I went to the western concert, my mom was playing for it as a gig. That's how me and Core clicked too, we both had moms that were preforming that day. Then the voice popped up in my head again. 'I'm begging of you please don't take my man. Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene!' I then remembered the voice, it was my mom singing it. I then remembered her when I was a kid, singing the song to me because the girl described in it kinda sounded like me. 'With flaming locks of auburn hair, ivory skin, and eyes of emerald green.' 'Your smile is like a breath of spring, your voice is soft like summer rain.' I frowned a little, my mom died a while back on a day like this, a rainy summer day. She died singing it to me. I kinda pushed my self into forgetting all about the song. That was when I felt a hand on my shoulder, I turned around to see Core holding a umbrella over my head. "It's a bad idea to be standing in the summer rain Lanes. Especially with no umbrella. Common, lets get ya home." We started walking to my house when he asked me a question. "Why were you standing in the rain anyway?" I looked and watched the rain fall as I walked. "I started thinking about my mom... Remember how she died singing to you, me, Kin, and Kon?" He nodded. "She started singing the song Jolene right?" I nodded telling him he was right. "Yep..I just started hearing her singing it in my head.. Seems I just stopped to listen to her and to remember all the times she sang it to me." That's when Corey smiled and started snapping. I looked over to him as he closed his eyes and started to sing the song like my mom did back when we met at the concert.

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene

I'm begging of you please don't take my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him just because you can
Your beauty is beyond compare
With flaming locks of auburn hair
With ivory skin and eyes of emerald green

Your smile is like a breath of spring
Your voice is soft like summer rain
And I cannot compete with you, Jolene

He talks about you in his sleep
There's nothing I can do to keep
From crying when he calls your name, Jolene

And I can easily understand
How you could easily take my man
But you don't know what he means to me, Jolene

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
I'm begging of you please don't take my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him just because you can

You could have your choice of men
But I could never love again
He's the only one for me, Jolene

I had to have this talk with you
My happiness depends on you
And whatever you decide to do, Jolene

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
I'm begging of you please don't take my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him even though you can
Jolene, Jolene

I surprised how welly Core sang the song even though it was made to be sung higher then what he did. I was also surprised he remembered all the lyrics. "The song does describe you. Even if it's not about you." Core started singing parts of the song again. "Your beauty is beyond compare with flaming locks of auburn hair, with ivory skin and eyes of emerald green. Your smile is like a breath of spring, your voice is soft like summer rain. My happiness depends on you
and whatever you decide to do." He smiled at the end. "That's not true though, how my beauty is beyond compare..." He frowned a little at my reaction. "Oh common Lanes, it's true. You just gotta get your self out of the gutter to realize it! I know for sure that you're the prettiest girl me and the twins know." I was taken back a second. "You know I'm a girl?" "Well no duh, you defiantly look like one. How could I not know you're a girl." I smiled a little. "Well, you always call me things like 'man, buddy, and fella'. I just always thought that you and the twins though I was a dude or at least one of the guys." He laughed a little. "Well if you're a dude, then you're sure as heck the prettiest one I've seen, my dear Lanabeth Judith Jolene Penn." I laughed a little. "Alright Corey Jaron Riffin." "SHH! People can hear you!" We laughed together as we walked the rest of the way to my house. My name might not be Jolene, but at least now I know why I have it as one of my two middle names.
