I was watching me best friend as she cleaned her guitar, talking to her new boyfriend over the phone. I'm not going to say this because I have crush on her... But her boyfriend is a douche. I seen him hit on other girls in our school hallway but it seems Carrie is too blind to see or hear that he's telling a girl in a different grade the same thing that he tells Care everyday. He just another guy that can tell her the same things another guy can. I don't see what she sees in the guy either. The dude's a womanizer! Carrie deserves WAY better then a guy that just wants a fling all the time. But, what can I do? She basically friend zoned me and from what my brother always tells me, the friend zone is like the mafia, you'll never get out no matter how hard you try. Even though that might be true... I'm gong to work to get her to see that this guy is a jerk and that she deserves better, and if she doesn't believe me... She can still cry on my shoulder when he leaves for another girl. I'm going to show her that this dude is nothing but a player. But I'll do it in my own way, through song. Easy. I already got it done. All I got to do now is play it for her. Even easier. I have it on CD, I'll just give it to her though her Dad. That way, I don't have to worry about her reaction if she hates it. So when the twins left and Carrie went to go on her date with Jason, I went to see Mr. Beff but to find out that Mina was the only one around at the moment. "Hey Mina. What's up?" She shrugged. "Just away from Trina for a day. Why are you still here anyway Lenny? Carrie left for Jason and the Twins aren't here either." I just showed her the CD with the one song on it. "I wanted you or your dad to give this to Carrie. It's pretty important." She just nodded. "I'll give it so her then if you want me to." I handed her the CD and smiled. "Thanks Mina. I owe ya one." She just shrugged. "No big. You are like a little brother to me. Now, I would go home if I were you." I nodded and started for the door. "Thanks again Mina." "Again, no problem." I walked out the door shutting it behind me and started walking home.
After I got home Mina was sitting in the kitchen with a CD in her hand. "Hey Carrie, how was it with Jason." I shrugged. "Normal date, normal day. What's with the CD?" She just smiled. "Lenny made it. He wanted you to listen to it. But he said that he didn't want to interrupt your conversation with Jason during practice." Mina then handed me the CD. "Go ahead and listen to it in your room. He must have worked on it a lot for you." I grabbed to CD and walked up into my room and took the silver disk from it's orange envelope case. It had a title at the top of the CD in a black marker. The first word was smudged to a mess thanks to the envelope case, bit it said 'Zone by Lenny Nepp' I went over to my computer and put the CD into the media drive and played the only song in in.

At the end it had a message. "Hey! This song is called 'Friend Zone'. I wrote this song for my best friend Carrie. I wrote it after I found out she's been dating this guy named Jason who, to me, is just a player using her... I wrote it to show her that even if she doesn't notice how I feel, that when she ever gets broken hearted over guys like this.. I got a shoulder for her at all times. Anyway, Lenny, out." I smiled as I listened to why he wrote it and who he wrote it for... It seemed that Mina was right, he put a lot of time in it if I've been dating Jason for almost a month now... I feel so stupid that I never noticed Len's feelings for me.. I'm happy he wrote this for me though. I did notice that Jason was kinda flirting with other girls at sometimes, but I didn't tell Mina this because I wanted to tell the band first but.. Me and Jason broke up today because I seen he kissed another girl for no reason. I'm sorta happy he's gone though, he was a jerk to a lot of people, specifically Lens. I remember Lenny telling him the day he asked me out. 'You break Care's heart, I'll break your face.' I laughed at the memory and played Lenny's song again. "Lens can be dorky... But he's pretty much my dorky knight in rusty armor, because shining armor, just means they never went to battle... And Lens, has defiantly went to battle for me and the twins before."
