AN: I don't own Glee

AN: Thanks to all the nice comments, I really appreciate it. Also a thanks to the warning that I used Noah instead of Roderick, and also nice job noticing that I took the duet of "Elastic Heart" by Sia (don't own!) that Noah Guthrie and Laura Dreyfuss (Roderick and Madison) did in real life and incorporated it into the story. BTW if you haven't heard the duet, I suggest you look it up, it's soooo good!

AN: Enjoy!

Chapter 6

The next morning was Friday and Mason could not have been more grateful. He was exhausted from Cheerios practice and was glad that they didn't have practice on Fridays. He got dressed quickly and headed downstairs for breakfast. His mom was already down at the table eating, but there was no sign of Madison. "Where's Madison?" Mason asked as he sat down and made himself a bowl of cereal. "Your father dropped her off at school, she said something about wanting to get there early." She shrugged, then stood up. "I should probably get going too. Don't want to be late. Have a good day sweetheart, see you tonight." Mrs. McCarthy said, kissing his head and squeezing his shoulder, then heading out the door.

Mason quickly finished his breakfast and headed out himself. As he drove to school by himself, his guilt about being mean to Madison washed over him again. He knew that she had left early because she hadn't wanted to see him. Mason knew that he was going to have to apologize to her as soon as he could.

When he reached the school, he made a beeline for her locker, and was lucky to just catch her. As Madison saw him coming, she turned on her heel and started quickly heading the opposite direction. Mason however quickly jogged up to her, "Madison, can I talk to you?" He asked. "Why, what did I do wrong now? Am I dressed to provacitively father?" She asked coldly. Mason sighed and reached out for her arm, pulling her to the side of the hallway. She crossed her arms, but looked willing to hear him out. "Mads, I'm really sorry for last night. I was being a jerk and I know that. I just was worried and don't want you to get hurt. It's my job to be protective as your brother." He said sincerely. She pondered for a minute and he added, "Please". Madison smiled and hugged her brother tightly. "So you forgive me?" Mason asked as the two broke apart. "Yes I forgive you." She said. Mason smiled, "Good, I really am sorry. Now that we're good, I better go to class, I'll see you later!" The two parted ways, and both walked away happy.

That Night…

The day had flown by, and the twins were now at their house, sprawled out on their couch. The two were watching a movie and sharing a bowl of popcorn, and just hanging out together like they usually did when they were home together. "So tomorrow Roderick's coming over so we can rehearse our duet." Madison said as she grabbed a handful of popcorn. "Nice. Jane and I are practicing at her house on Sunday." Mason said casually. "So when are you going to ask her out?" Madison asked, poking Mason with her foot. Mason blushed and didn't reply. "Oh come on Mas, you know you like her, and I think she likes you too." She added, popping another piece of popcorn. Mason started to nod his head, disagreeing then he stopped, "You really think so?" He asked quickly, and Madison nodded quickly. Mason smiled to himself and remained quiet, obviously thinking about the new discovery.

The next morning, Madison woke up early to get ready for Roderick's arrival. She showered and ate breakfast and got changed. She decided on wavy hair, a denim shirt, leggings, and a beige colored scarf.

At 10 o'clock the door bell rang, Madison ran to get the door and opened to find Roderick there. "Right on time." She said with a smile, welcoming him inside. Roderick walked in awkward, obviously uncomfortable. He was looking down and kept fixing his shirt, which Madison noticed, looked new. In fact, he looked very nice today. "You ready to get down to business?" Madison asked, trying to lighten the mood. Roderick smiled, and replied, "Yeah let's do it."

"I was thinking that I could play my guitar for this. I think it would sound really good as an acoustic version." Roderick suggested shyly, looking up at her. Madison smiled and nodded, "I love that idea! I totally agree, I think acoustic would be lovely." She said enthusiastically. Roderick blushed and then started playing, 'And another one bites the dust,' (Don't own the lyrics!).

Two hours later, Roderick and Madison had perfect the duet exactly the way they wanted it. Roderick left soon after that, and Madison was feeling quite content at the moment. Madison then headed up to her room, but was stopped by Mason, "I heard you guys and it sounded great. Now do you want to go out for a burger or something? I need your advice on something." "Sounds good, I'm starving, what do you need my help on?" Madison asked as the two headed out the door. "We'll talk about it there." Mason said.

Once the two sat down with their shakes and burgers, Madison exploded with curiousity. "Okay! Now tell me!" She demanded. "Okay okay!" Mason said holding his up in surrender with a chuckle. "I just wanted your advice on how I should ask Jane out." Mason said with a quiet straight voice, looking down at his food. Madison squealed loudly, earning her dirty looks from fellow diners and a blush from Mason. "Aww Mas this is so cute! I'm so happy for you!" She gushed. "Yeah well don't congratulate me yet, I still don't know how to ask her out." Mason said. "You have nothing to worry about Mason, but here's what you should do. After rehearsing tomorrow, you should say how nice it was working with her and hanging out with her and suggest you do it again. Then give a specific date and time. Then you'll get your answer." Madison advised him. Mason ran a finger through his hair nervously, "And you really think that will work?" He asked. "I do." She said sincerely. "Okay, I'll do it. Tomorrow."
