Class Interview: Adam Evans
At the ToonSchool News Report set, we see Mac and Blossom on the reporter's desk as they start the News Report. "Welcome to the newest edition of ToonSchool News Report. I'm Blossom," Blossom introduced himself.
"And I'm Mac," Mac said to the audience, "Let's start off with Billy on the weather."
At the weather report set, Billy grinned stupidly as he sang, "Rap, rap, rap, hip-hop, I'm a rappin' yo!"
"Thanks for that report, Billy," Mac said.
Blossom then said, "Today, Bart will interview the Toonsters' record producer, Adam Evans, who is also publicly known as the superhero Rubberband Man."
"Thanks, Blossom," Bart said as he turned to Adam, who was seated in an interviewer chair. "So Adam, nice to see ya, dude."
"No prob, little man," Adam responded.
"So to start things off, from what I hear, you weren't always on the side of good. According to several…anonymous sources, when you once had one of your beats stolen, you went after the guy responsible, and endangered several innocent others in the process. Care to explain all that?"
"Well, back then I was a young aspiring songwriter and producer who trusted the wrong guy in the music biz. I got ripped off around the same time the Big Bang of Dakota happened. After all my chances to get the money and credit I was owned legally ran out, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I'm sure you know how that turned out."
"Yeah. Anyway, those same sources also told me about how you escaped prison and established a new identity as big-time musician Stringer, a name you occasionally use to this day. Care to tell us about that?"
"Yeah…you know being in prison is bad enough, but it's even worse if you're a meta-human like me. Everyone's against you for being a freak: the other inmates pick on, hassle and kick you around all the time, and the guards just sit back and let them; they don't even bother stepping in unless you retaliate after which they treat you as the bad guy even though you're the victim. And eventually, I just couldn't take it anymore. So I broke out, went into hiding for a little while, took the name and look of 'Stringer', jumpstarted my career, and vowed never to use my powers again. I finally had things going my way…until I made a foolish decision and Static blew my cover."
"I know what you mean about foolish decisions. I've made plenty of them. Anyhow, those same sources also said that the villain Ebon is your big brother Ivan. What's it like being related to evil like him?"
"Well, we grew up in a not-so-good neighborhood. Ivan idolized the gangbangers that lived there. He was a nobody back then, who wanted to be a big somebody in crime, and spent lots of time in juvie trying to build a reputation. Me and our dad argued with him about this constantly and he and I still argued after our dad passed. When the Big Bang happened, Ivan got his big break in the criminal underworld with his new powers. He tried to get me to join him in the 'family business', and when I refused, he framed me for breaking his friends out of prison so that I'd have no choice but to join him. Luckily, Static was able to figure the scheme and cleared my name."
"Man, you and Static have had some times, huh? And for the last question, why come to ToonTown and start a new label?"
"Well, I first came here while touring with a group signed on my Dakota label, and I recognized this place had much talent, but also a lot of swindlers, who would take advantage of these people and their naiveté about the music business. So I started this label to give those talented people a real chance. I split my time between here and Dakota."
"Wow, you are one busy guy," Bart said. "Well, that's all we have time for. Thanks for stopping by, Adam. Mac, Blossom, back to you."
"Thanks for that interview, guys," Blossom said. "Stay tuned for another edition soon."
"Until then, this is Mac and Blossom with the ToonSchool News Report saying good night," Mac said as another edition of ToonSchool News Report ended.
