Luke could not believe it. This girl was going to be the death of him. First the troll, now a three headed dog!

He did consider the possibility that this amount of trouble she was getting into is uncommon.

He turns back to the shimmering rainbow, where she sits, holding her present.

The cat hisses. Luke rolls his eyes.

"I'll tell you Hailes, that cat hates me."

She smiles, with the smug grin he finds adorable.

"He's very resentful. You did name him Snake after all. Why, Fi eats snakes for breakfast."

Suddenly her eyes widen.

"Breakfast... I've got to go Luke, Happy Christmas."

And the connection is cut, and she and the cat are gone.

Hailey and her cat walked quickly into the great hall. Most people were up by now, she wasn't surprised, her adventure had taken quite a while.

"Happy Christmas, Hailey!"

Harmony greeted her with gusto.

Smiling, Hailey hugged her friend. Pulling out of the hug, both spoke at once.

"Oh my god, is that a cat?"

"What on earth are you wearing?"

For indeed, Harmony was wearing a strange sweater. Purple, with waves stitched on the front.

The girl blushed.

"Oh, about that. Yeah, I was kinda hesitant to tell you, given your extreme dislike for Ron, but ummmm...-"

"Please tell me you haven't gotten yourself romantically involved with him. We're eleven for gods sake!"

Harmony laughed nervously. "Uh, no, that would be weird. Remember how I told you an English wizarding family adopted me? Yeah, it was the Weasley's."

Hailey blinks. Her friend is family with the boy she really can't stand. No wonder she is nervous.

"Harm, you are aware of my ideals, correct?"

"Uh, what is that supposed to mean?"

Hailey smiled gently, before hugging her friend again.

"It means I don't judge anyone based of off their family members actions. I judge them based off of how they treat me, and how they act towards others. The reason I resent your brother is due to his lapse of judgement concerning Hermione Granger."

Harmony's violet eyes widened.

"You don't care?"

Hailey spoke softly.

"Not in the least. And I believe you asked about Fi here?"

She scooped up her Christmas present and began telling Harmony of her adventure that morning.

Hailey first Christmas at Hogwarts, was by far her best.

Not a moment after she had left Harmony at the Griffindor table, Day swooped down on her.

"Hailey! Happy Christmas, kiddo!"

Day handed her a small box.

Hailey's eyes widened. She had never expected that anyone other than Luke would give her anything, and even then she was never sure.

"For me? Day, honestly I never would have thought..." She trailed off, unsure of how tot explain what she was feeling.

"It's fine, really! Just open it."

Hailey did as instructed and opened her second present of the day. Inside was pretty silver bracelet with a few beads on it.

"It's called a Pandora bracelet." Day said proudly." I learned about it in Muggle studies several weeks ago, and got my mum to order a few from a muggle magazine."

If anything, this information only further astounded the astonished first year.

"Why would you do that for me?"

Day looked just as surprised as Hailey felt.

"Because, I'm your friend. And friends do things for each other." Suddenly a thought occurred to Day. "Hailey... How many presents have you gotten today?"

Hailey blushed. "Including yours, two."

"TWO!"

Hailey flinched.

"Hailey, that's not right. I get that you were raised by muggles, and they might not really understand owl mail, but one present is not right."

Hailey's eyes widened as she realized the extent of Day's misunderstanding.

"Uh, Day? My other present was a cat. And he wasn't from my family."

Just then, Fidí mewed.

Day looked furious.

"They didn't give you anything!"

"I wouldn't expect them to. I did live in a cupboard for a while, and before that it was a cot the hallway."

"That's illegal! It's neglect! Hailey, that's not right, they have no right to you if they treat you that way!"

Hailey sighed. The fury in Day's voice was unmistakeable, and she knew she had to do something, unless she wanted to get involved in as legal battle.

"I know it's wrong. Their treatment of me is rather dreadful, but it's all caused by fear. They are afraid of me. They stopped neglecting me the moment I learned about magic, and haven't given me any cause to really hate them. It's a mutual dislike, I assure you Day."

Day was still frowning.

"I still don't like you living with them."

When Hailey returned to her dorm room that evening, she found a silvery cloak with a small note.

Hailey,

Your father left this in my possession before he died. I think it's time it was returned to you.

There was no signature. Hailey frowned. Such a strange gift from an unknown giver. Though it was against her better judgement, Hailey put on her newest acquisition. Walking over to the large mirror on the side on Pansy Parkinson's bed, she noticed something very strange. Her head, which was not covered by the cloak was visible. The rest of her body was not.

Resisting the urge to scream, Hailey carefully removed the cloak, and her body was visible again.

One could get into quite a bit of trouble with a cloak like this, Hailey thought to herself.

Grinning like the Cheshire Cat, Hailey folded the cloak, and waited for the noise of the common room to die down.

Trouble, indeed
