Chapter 6: Time to Descend

The bustling of people could be heard around the building. People dressed as maids and butlers moved quickly to room to room, arranging furniture and cleaning the house. Men and women drew weird insignias around the floor and walls, while a small group of people murmured long sentences of an unknown language causing the drawings to glow blue. No one stopped for a break, but rather continued with their job. They had to make sure everything was perfect in a matter of few hours.

Far away, in the realm of Adioria, the rulers of Heaven and Hell, the respective kingdom's advisors, and the two sages of Heaven and Hell resided to discuss the issue of the strange force on Earth.

The first sage, a woman named Tsukiko has platinum blond hair, amethyst eyes, and a slender, body. The second sage, a man named Anri has raven black hair, midnight blue eyes, and a more feminine frame, compared to muscular. Tsukiko was born a full-fledged angel and Anri, a full-fledged devil. The sages of Heaven and Hell are always composed of an angel and devil and a female and male. In order to become elected as a sage, one must undergo harsh training. Before the election, multiple competitions will be held to determine who truly has the capability to fulfill the position. Once the top angel and devil, one female and male are elected, they must undergo a ceremony. Sages of Heaven and Hell must be unbiased to their original nature. In order to do so, the two must become half-angel and half-devil. Their genetics will alter slightly to accommodate with the change. One of their wings will be white, and the other will become black as evidence.

Tsukiko said, "We have been able to pinpoint an area of where the peculiar form emanates from. The source is from Tokyo, Japan. From what we have felt, the power is most likely of a Halfling. Half-angel or half-devil, we are unable to tell which. From the strength of it, the power has not developed completely; however will within a matter of years. It is safe to say the child is perhaps close to adulthood."

Anri continued, "We want Prince Masamune and Prince Ritsu to search around Tokyo. With Prince Ritsu's holy and healing power and Prince Masamune's offensive powers, they will be safe. From their own nature, they can detect if there is another angel or devil within the area."

The King of Heaven said, "What shall they do once they have pinpointed the source?"

Tsukiko answered, "They will bring the child here and we will use our power to determine the mother or father."

Anri continued, "For an angel or devil to enter the Earth and fall for a human is certainly uncalled of. A punishment will be given for it is forbidden to breed with a human. Until we discover the culprit, we shall keep silent about this issue. We shall create another reason for Prince Masamune and Prince Ritsu's descent onto the Earth. We must not let anyone discover the truth."

Tsukiko and Anri, both holding a golden staff with large ring on top and a crystal with ever-changing colors in the center of the circle, stood together. They hit the ground with their staff. In one voice, they said, "GO! Report the details to your child and send them down to the house that has already been created for them."

The rulers and Heaven and Hell and their advisors rose and bowed before the sages. The two families turned towards each other and said their goodbyes out of respect and rushed home. They must prepare their child for this mission.

Back in heaven, Prince Ritsu was standing on his balcony staring towards the horizon. His heart pounded rapidly. His mind was filled with confusion and fear. He inhaled deeply in hopes of relieving his nervousness. It is his duty as a child of the royal family to complete his missions; however, this is not any normal one. His partner is the one and only, Arakaki Masamune, the Prince of Hell and his beloved soul mate. The Prince of Heaven knew to remain in close proximity with his soul mate; he may just lose his mind completely. He would not be able to control himself, but rather let his heart take over, just as he's been doing these past years during the Day of Asteri. The connection between their souls cannot be broken for its power is too strong to cut. As much as brunette would love to let loose and allow his heart to guide him, he cannot, for their love is truly forbidden. Maybe this was a sign from the past that their love was truly never meant to last… His slim fingers gripped the balcony railing tightly, as painful thoughts continued to intrude his mind…

Ritsu did not notice he had an audience watching him. Kisa, Yukina, An-chan, Chinatsu, Chiaki, and Hatori watched with worry. From the day Ritsu fell from the balcony and slept for a period of time to the when he woke; the incident was surrounded with confusion. No one knew the reason of the occurrence, not even Keisuke, Ritsu's closest confidant. When the Prince of Heaven heard the news of his mission, his behavior became even more perplexing. The brunette would randomly space out and appeared to be constantly in thought. No matter how many people expressed their concern countless times, he would not give anyone a definite answer, but rather found a roundabout way to answer.

Each remembered the days they watched Ritsu in a deep sleep with fear that he would never wake up…

~flashback~

The sleeping prince lied on the bed with families and friends crowded around him. Whispers of concerns filled the room.

Kiyomi, the Queen of Heaven sobbed softly. "What could've have caused our son to become like this?" Atushi held his wife tightly in his arms and said gently, "We will find a way to wake him. Do not worry my beloved."

Kisa looked down towards the sleeping brunette and said, "Before he fell from the balcony, he seemed worried about finding his soul mate. He asked me what it's like to have your soul mate. It seemed as if he thought he could never find his soul mate. I told him what I felt it was like, but he suddenly lost consciousness…" He bowed deeply. "I am sorry for being unable to stop this incident."

Atsushi shook his head. "Kisa-kun, you are not at fault. You were only trying to help him and you saved him. Whatever is bothering him is the reason."

An-chan suggested, "What if…what if he already found his soul mate?"

Kisa furrowed his eyebrow. "What do you mean An?"

"Could it be possible that he already found his soul mate? Maybe there is a reason that he feels that cannot be together?" A grave look passes through her face, as if she was experiencing something along those lines.

Keisuke shook his head. "That is impossible. If he has found his soul mate, he would've bound to tell one of us."

An-chan sighed and said, "I was just suggesting. After all, he has been like this ever since the first Day of Asteri he was allowed to attend." She gave her sleeping friend a soft look. "I hope whatever it is; it is something that can be dealt with easily…"

Kiyomi's sobs have died down a little. She asked, "What will we do if Ritsu does not wake…?"

Keisuke asserted firmly, "I will go in his place."

Atushi shook his head. "The sages have called for Ritsu. We must listen to their orders."

"But Father! Ritsu is already in such vulnerable state. Even if he were to wake up, he would not be good shape." Keisuke did not want his precious brother to be hurt anymore than he already is.

In a calm voice, the King of Heaven said, "Keisuke. The sages decided on Ritsu for a reason. We must believe that he will wake before it is time for him to descend upon Earth."

"Father…" Keisuke was filled with deep concern for his beloved younger brother. He hoped to see those emerald eyes shine for him again. He hardly ever saw him smile earnestly. Lately, Ritsu has been filled with sadness, which also filled him with sadness. He prayed in his heart, "Please wake him up… Let him smile happily once more…Let him be truly happy once more…"

Days passed with no signs that Ritsu would ever wake…

At the same time, down in Hell, Masamune could not relax. After hearing the news of Ritsu collapsing, he couldn't concentrate on anything, but could only constantly worry about his soul mate. He knew he should try to stop these feelings because he's always thinking about an ANGEL, but this angel is the one he's fated to…

The ravenette sighed heavily. He was lying on his king-sized bed allowing his mind to be filled with painful thoughts. It has already been days since he heard the news. Even though he knew he should avoid all thoughts of the Prince of Heaven, they constantly intruded his mind. These gentle, yet heart-wrenching emotions were utterly new, yet he felt as if he felt them before. Probably in his past life…Masamune wished he could understand why this had to happen… Did fate enjoy playing around with lovers…? Because this all too cruel to believe…

The Prince of Heaven crossed his arm over his face, to shield his eyes, as if he didn't want to reveal his emotions. He took a deep breath and prayed softly (something he doesn't do), "His pains, his sadness, give them to me. Please let him awake from his deep sleep. Even if he is an angel, he is my fated one. Even if I shouldn't love him…even if I shouldn't care about him…please don't keep him from me…please just wake him…"

All of the sudden, Masamune gasped and instantly sat up as he felt this great surge of energy pass through his body. It was neither unpleasant nor painful, but rather as if his body has been energized and strengthened. His heart beat rapidly and he breathed heavily for several minutes before it calmed down. For some reason, the prince of Hell felt as if everything would be alright. He just knew.

In less than an hour, word has already been sent that the Prince of Heaven as awoken…

~end flashback~

It was time. The rulers of Heaven and Hell returned to their palace and transferred the information to their child. Only members of the royal family knew of this mission. No one outside of the advisors would know, not even close friends, as it was commanded by the sages to remain silent. After some last minute preparations, the families descended onto Earth and into the house that has been created for Masamune and Ritsu to live during their stay. The house was concealed behind lush trees in order to avoid detection. Magical insignias have been carved into the wall in order to provide protection for the princes. No one would be able to neither enter nor see the house without granted permission.

In the house, the sages of Heaven and Hell awaited them in the living room. The royal family of Heaven and advisors stood one side of the room, while the royal family of Hell and advisors stood on the other side.

A tense atmosphere permeated the room. Ritsu and Masamune looked forward. Both didn't want to look at one another because it would be unbearable. It was already difficult enough to be such close proximity. Neither was ready to live and work together. Their heart pounded with fear, anxiety, and confusion. The two knew they had to control themselves and not lose themselves in one another. They must not follow what their heart desires, but what their mind says because that is the only way they will be in control and complete their mission.

Tsukiko and Anri stood together and looked at one another. Tsukiko said, "Prince Ritsu, Prince Masamune, please come forward."

The brunette and ravenette moved to stand in front of the sages. Anri smiled and said, "We place our trust in you two. We believe that you two together will be able to find this child that has been living on Earth for years now. When you find this child, please do not cause any harm, for they have not done anything wrong for being born. It is not their fault, but rather the parent who is one of us. They should know better to fall in with a human."

The feminine half of the sages nodded her head and continued, "In order to pinpoint where this child could be, we suggest you enroll in a school. Be strategic in your choices. Scout the area before you choose. Find the area you believe the force emanates the strongest from. How you choose to infiltrate the school is your choice, as a student, teacher, nurse will be up to you."

The masculine half asked, "Do you understand?"

Ritsu and Masamune nodded their heads in understanding. The hard part of the mission is not finding the Halfling, but the fact they had to stay in a house together, meaning being very close to one another. It hurt excruciatingly to know they had to endure the fact they were soul mates that were not meant to be. Being together is just another painful reminder of their sad fate.

Tsukiko said, "Now, Anri and I will place a protection spell and a concealing spell in order to hide your nature. Please hold one another's hand."

While were getting ready to begin the spell, the two princes looked at one another nervously. They feared what their reactions would be if they touched one another. Ritsu looked up and blushed as he stared into the other's honey orbs.

Masamune whispered gently, "It will be okay…" The ravenette grasped the brunette's smaller hand reassuringly. Both could feel the connection between them strengthened, but this time it was not scary, awkward, or unexpected… not like the first time they shook hands or every other time during the Day of Asteri during their greetings.

Tsukiko and Anri appeared uneasy for some reason, but both put on a smile. Anri asked, "Ready?"

The two princes nodded their heads. Tsukiko said, "Please close your eyes." The two took a deep breath and closed their eyes. The sages held hands and closed their eyes as well. In sync, the two spoke words of enchantment and their power glowed from their staffs. Bright lights flowed out of the staffs and surrounded Ritsu and Masamune. As the spell continued, the strings of lights wrapped the two until it became a complete sphere. The brightness soon became unbearable, that the audience watching had to turn away in order to protect their sight. As the sages muttered the last words, the ball of light shattered and dispersed into the air. The four opened their eyes and relaxed.

Tsukiko said, "You will safe now. If your wings were to ever come out, no one would be able to see it, except you both."

Anri continued, "Now everything is complete. We trust that you will able to find this child."

Ritsu and Masamune bowed. "We will not fail."

The sages smiled and said, "We shall leave now. Settle down and learn the dynamics of this house." Tsukiko and Anri walked out of the living room and returned to Adioria, where they resided as sages.

Never once did Masamune let go of Ritsu's hand nor did the brunette asked the ravenette too. But then Keisuke asked, "Why are you two still holding each other's hand?" It caused the two released one another's hand as if were a disease. The two princes turned away and avoided looking at each other out of embarrassment and also the fear of falling even in deeper into their sin.

Their audience was completely confused by their behavior, but decided not say a word about it. Ritsu moved towards his family and Masamune did so likewise. The family of heaven pampered the youngest of their family. Hugs and kisses were passed around, as they would not see the brunette until after the mission is over. No communication was allowed between families. Messages must be passed through the sages in order to keep secrecy. The family of hell was not as affectionate, but the love for one another was still there. The twin sisters gave their older brother a big hug.

After a while, the two families left to return to their kingdom. Awkwardness filled the air. Now, the only two remaining were Ritsu and Masamune. Neither knew how to act around each other.

Ritsu turned away and stuttered, "I-I'm going to-" He gasped as he felt his body being pushed onto the wall.

Two hands were placed on the side of his head. The brunette looked up and could see honey orbs staring intensely at him. Ritsu could feel the heat between them in this moment; he wanted to but didn't want to run from this moment. He stuttered nervously, "M-Masamune-san, I-" He was cut off by a fierce kiss. The second their lips made contact, the Prince of Heave could no longer think. Strong, comforting arms wrapped around his body and he drowned in them. He lifted his arms to grab hold onto the ravenette tightly to steady himself. Both weren't thinking about the consequences or the aftermath, but only right now. In their hearts, both tried to promise themselves this would be last time they would fall into their desires and love. Because this is a sin….Let them sin once more…

Above in Adioria, where the sages resided, a serious conversation between Tsukiko and Anri occurred.

The feminine side of the two bit her lower lip. "I felt it between them… It cannot be a mistake…"

The male sage furrowed his eyebrows. "It is not… I worry."

Tsukiko gripped her staff tightly. "It's obvious the two have kept it a secret. The moment their hands touched, I could feel an array of emotions that the two faced."

Anri placed a hand over his female counterpart's. "We shall stay silent. We shall not betray the secret they have kept."

Tsukiko nodded her head, but worry still remained on her expression.
