Just a background chapter for the upcoming events. Sorry it's been so long for an update and I apologize for this chapter's shortness. To make it up, I'll add another chapter today.
Ok so yes, I know it was a little rushed so I thought of a little something to have at the end. I hope it makes it a little more interesting at least! Haha...well, enjoy! ~AuroraeCanta1432

An owl flew in for the first time in a long time. By the looks of it, it was one from Konoha itself, a great ninja village filled with brilliant shinobi. Even so, this owl scared the message receivers.

"It's coming in for a crash landing!" one of the Suna shinobi said. "Duck! Get out of the way!"

There were two other shinobi in the high tower of message transmitters. They all dove to the back of the room opposite the window for incoming owls.

And just as he predicted, CRASH! One of the pillars was nearly cracked all the way through from the bird's diving impact. The brown feather-ruffled, black-eyed hawk however looked unscathed by its headlong landing. It only stood on the perch in the window waiting for its message to be retrieved.

It took a little time for them to recover from the sudden events, but eventually one of the three approached the bird. The one who had given the warning gave off a sense of fear toward it, the bird fed on that sense, and the man cowered away. The next man went up straight and tall, with an expressionless face, but his eyes were still wide and the hawk gave a shriek and he backed away, far away. The final person showed no fear in his body, but kept his eyes averted so he was able to get passed its stare.

He was able to approach and untie the message from the massive hawk's leg and recognized it as a top secret message. As far as he knew, there were no serious threats in either village. The only thing noteworthy was the chunin exams in a few months. He still brought it to the Kazekage quickly as if it were extremely urgent.

As it turned out to be.

The letter was immediately transmitted to the Kazekage. "Sir, I apologize for interrupting you, but this seems to be an urgent message from the Leaf.

Wide-eyed, the Kazekage opened the letter and recognized it to be from Konoha, but the message was shocking:

Kazekage,

Our council members have recognized that your village has been doing absolutely nothing in our alliance. We have aided you with troops and defense but all you give us are more requests of missions. In addition, we have heard rumors about you using our units to attack another Hidden Village. However, I will not allow that. If this is certainly true, we will have no choice but to attack your village and recall our men.

Finally, a word of advice from the council members and I upon hearing other various rumors. It is said that your jinchuriki has been losing control of himself again and should immediately be retained. However attempts have been made, retaining should no longer be an option. You need to do everything in your power to kill him as he will be a threat to not only your village but ours as well.

Keep well,
The Third Hokage

'Nonsense!' The Kazekage slammed his fist onto the desk. 'How could they have known about our troops for another alliance?!' "What can we do to prevent from an attack!?"

"Sir, we could threaten them to crush a jewel of theirs they've been missing for twelve years." A man leaning against the doorpost spoke up. He had darker skin like all the other sand villagers and he was well known as being a jonin.

"The jewel... the pawn that shall now be put into play... Get me a pen and paper this instant!"

An assistant came in with pen and paper in less than a minute, but the village's leader already knew what to say.

Hokage,

It is true we are using troops against another Hidden Village, but is only to enforce an alliance we are making. However, if any of your ninja interfere or you try to attack us, we will kill a hostage we've been holding for twelve years, and we know this person is precious to one of Konoha's leading families, so I would highly suggest you not conduct anything against us.

As your council sees our alliance shaky, I will guarantee we are good comrades five years after this alliance is at complete solidarity. That is my proposal to you.

Good day to you,

The Third Kazekage

"There, that should do the trick. But now, keep an especially close eye on the girl. Do not let her outside the village for any reason whatsoever."

"Yes sir!" And all of his attendants filed out of the room.

"Kankuro!"

At the sound of his name, the eldest of his sons quickly made his way to the office room. Upon entering, he bowed respectively according to his custom. "What may I be of service, Lord Kazekage?"

"Have you forgotten who you are to me? Address me as who I really am to you."
"I did. Now, what do you want."
'He's gotten stubborn, almost as bad as his sister.' Shaking it off the comment, he finally addressed his reason for calling him. "I ned to you keep a close eye on your brother. He seems to have become quite unstable and I need someone there to keep him under control."
"Yes sir."
"Now go..." he wanted to add his shrewdness that he usually gave when other citizens came in to see him, but he still kept in mind, 'he is my son... no matter how much I like it or not...'

'What do I do, what should I do...' Pacing his room over, and over, and over again, he could not decide which path was the best for him or his friend, 'my first friend.' 'Gaara, Gaara, Gaara. Poor, poor Gaara. Don't you remember you have me as a friend?'

"You are NO friend to me! You've made my life miserable, Shukaku! All I want is people, I have nothing else for you but an eternal hate!"

'Dear, dear Gaara, haven't you figured out by now that no one will ever want to be with you for extended periods of time? No one likes you, no one loves you. Especially since you killed Karura...'

"That wasn't my fault! It was you! You killed my mother! I'm not a murderer. You're the one who takes control of me just so you can have your desire for blood."

'Yes, but you are the one who killed Yashamaru."

He was dumbfounded. He stared at the wind to contemplate nothing except that he did kill, with his own hands. 'I killed... Yashamaru myself...'

'Now you got it boy! But, it wasn't your intention. It was your own father's fault, for everything! He put me in you, he let her die, he sent him to kill you. Now, I don't know about you, but he's to the one to blame for all of this. I can help you annihilate him so this won't happen to anyone else. I will help you if you listen to me and take what I say to heart, because I know the way to kill him. Now, do we have a deal?'

It was all true, but he could do it. He could make his father pay for all that he did to him. He could even tell that his siblings wanted him gone. It would be a redemption from the man! He could...

"Gaara?"

Gaara whirled around like the dust outside to see the person who constantly had to watch him. Outraged by his interruption, he wielded his sand to point at his brother's neck and in furry, "I don't want you here. Now get out of my room..."

"Now your starting to sound like a sibling." He simply backed away from the point and casually walked over to sit at the head of Gaara's bed. Gaara was shocked! 'He wasn't intimidated? But I thought...'

"Come sit next to me, brother." He had a welcoming smile. It reminded Gaara of the one Hinata would shoot him in the middle of class and he would sometimes have to turn away because he felt like he was blushing. But this was his brother, the one he thought hated him for everything. "Well aren't you going to join me?"

The little brother slowly walked over to his own bed to sit at the very end of it, as far as he could sit from his older brother. "Oh come on!" and he dragged Gaara across the covers to sit right next up against him like he was giving a half hug.

"What are you doing Kankuro?" and he tried standing up to get away from the awkwardness, but failed as he was forced onto the bed once more.

"Well, I wanted a little quality time with my little brother. Is that so bad?"
"Yes."
"Well how come?"
"Because everyone hates me."
"Correction: Everyone fears you. I saw you around that girl. You were nice to her, and I hope you'll be nice to me too."
"Maybe. If you get me some nuts."

And surprisingly, he sat wide-eyed as his brother unbottoned one of his shirt pockets to take out a tied bag of nuts. "I know a few things about you," and he threw the bag on Gaara's lap. He opened it cautiously and peeked in. 'They are nuts...'

'Of course they are you dimwit. What else would the be?'
'Shut up.'
'Suit yourself,' and he could tell the Shukaku went for some rest.

"Now, as you've heard tactic-wise, since you're on my team now, it would help if we knew each other more to keep everything in sync."
"Well I know you well enough that all you do is pull you your dumb puppets and abduct your enemy into its stomach and you call that a day. There, I know you."
"Wow, you are funny Gaara." He was shocked to find how amused his older was by his understatement. He laid on the bed almost crying from laughing. "But that's not all of it," Kankuro finally said as he sat up. "I use venom too you know..."
"Well, I figured you liked playing with snakes."

Again, he started laughing, but he was on the floor this time. 'What is with this guy?'

'Sorry to interrupt your thought again, but he's a moron.'
'Didn't I tell you to shut up?'
'Wow, can you hang out with this guy more? I love laughing at him! He's such an idiot!'
'Shut UP!'

"But in all seriousness bro," he had finally started to climb back onto the bed after his laughing rampage. "We need to start working together if we're going to get some girls."
"Wait, WHAT?!"
"Oh, I guess you must not have hit that yet, but when you do cool stuff such as doing super hard missions successfully, you attract the ladies." At this comment, he gave a wink.
"You're creepy."
"Well you're... hypocritical."
"Nice save."
"I think I've found your talent Gaara."
"And why would you even mention that?"
"Because you are so sarcastic!"
"Sarcastic?" He'd never heard this word before, and it sounded bad. He summoned his sand and wrapped it around his ankles to lift him in the air, upside-down.
"Ok, or you're super serious. Now, will you please put me down?"
"Explain what this 'sarcastic' is."
"Oh uh, that! Well it means you say something opposite of what you mean. For example, if I were to go up to your sister and say 'You're stinking hot'..."
"What did you just say about me?!" A burst of wind went flying through the room and it knocked Gaara's sand holding Kankuro against the wall. Thank goodness he never kept any decorations of any sort or else it would've fallen all over Gaara.

"Well, it looks like you were having some fun Gaara. What'd he say to you?"
"He told me I was 'sarcastic'."

And this time, his sister cracked up on the floor. She was rolling from laughter so much that her hair got messed up from his sand laying everywhere.

"Well it's true Tem! He is! Just have a conversation with him one day and he'll seem super serious but making the most sarcastic comments!"
"Ok, well I'll leave you two to your fun then while I go out and learn how to whip your butt even harder with new jutsu." And with that she started strutting out of the door.
"Oh no you don't!" And started chasing after her. When he was just about to turn out of the sight of the door, he summoned his puppet which grabbed Gaara and dragged him along.

"Put me down!"
"Hey we gotta train so let's go! You'll enjoy it. You'll see your sarcasm in your sister..."

WHACK! A blast of wind crashed Kankuro off track and he fell. "Well, if you think it'll be fun, then let's go at it!"
"All right, the fun's about to start." Eyes narrowed and cocky grins on their faces, the siblings were ready to have their 'fun.'

'Is that what fun is? Pointless games? Well... I'll guess I'll try it...' And he hit his sand at the two of them. When the sand had settled to the ground, he saw two laughing faces appear out of it, enjoying themselves.
