Chapter XX:
A cold breeze can be felt throughout the dinner banquet with music played by a known group of musicians in Suna. The people who are invited are enjoying the music and the food and drinks being served. As people are enjoying the banquet Sasuke and Hinata are alone talking to each other.
Hinata looked into Sasuke's eyes and asked, "Why are you so possessive towards me Sasuke kun? First you told me to never call any male with the kun suffix except from you and now you got angry when Gaara san kissed my knuckles. Why Sasuke kun are you acting like that why?"
"Because I like you Hinata chan." Sasuke replied in a soft yet clear voice.
Hinata was shaky upon hearing Sasuke's declaration it wasn't expected of him to say such words boldly from him. The man who was a known avenger who can't even return the love of Sakura who always asks for her feelings to be returned by Sasuke who openly admitted that he liked her when they were just recently acquainted.
"Y-you c-can't be serious right?" Hinata asked in disbelief.
Sasuke sighed and adjusted his collar as if he was choking, "I'm serious Hinata chan since we got married I accepted the fact that I am not alone anymore that I now have you in my life, I get insecure whenever other male are trying to get close to you when you are already mine for they know you more than I know you and when we were apart that's the time I knew that I truly like you for there is no sense in living anymore when you are not with me. I know you are still harboring feelings for the dobe and I am not asking you to like me in return immediately for I will wait until you like me. But I'll make every time and moment we spent together a step in making you forget about him and start to like me."
"Sasuke kun…" Hinata said who was happy knowing that Sasuke likes him and that he is willing to wait until she will like him in return for he's aware of her blind affections towards Naruto.
Sasuke embraced his wife and Hinata returned his embrace both feeling that they are perfect in each other's arms. Not so far from them Gaara who was looking at saw that scene unfold and crushed the cup he was carrying.
"Gaara, are you alright?" Kankuro asked who saw his brother crush the cup he was holding.
"Hn." Gaara replied and walked away.
"Just what is his problem? First he was having a deadly glaring match with Uchiha and now he suddenly crushed the cup he was holding."
"I think he's jealous." Temari said who appeared behind Kankuro.
"Jealous of the Uchiha for marrying Hinata but why? And isn't she supposed to marry Naruto?"
"She was but Naruto chose Sakura over her breaking Hinata's heart and Uchiha was in the right place in the right time so he got to marry her. Gaara admired Hinta ever since the Fourth Shinobi War where she showed great improvement ever since he last saw her fight during the chunin exams. Can't you remember the incident that happened the last time Naruto and Hinata was here?"
Kankuro thought about it and remembered.
Flashback Naruto and Hinata's visit in Suna
Naruto and Hinata were going out together for a month now and they were specifically selected to act as envoy to Suna where they are to deliver a scroll from the recently appointed hokage Kakashi. Naruto and Hinata were walking along the village with Naruto's arm around Hinata's shoulders, unknown to them Gaara watches over them stealthily hiding his chakra from them. However his personal bodyguard Kankuro and Temari saw what he was doing and confronted him when he returned back at his office.
"Gaara why are you stalking Naruto and Hinata?" Kankuro asked which earned him a deadly glare from his brother.
"I am not stalking them I was just looking around the village."
"Really? Then why are you always only a few meters behind them when you are just looking around?" Kankuro teased.
Gaara didn't answer he simply kept his silence.
"It's alright brother, I know you admire Hinata that's why you want to look at her from a far for you will never betray your best friend Naruto who is her boyfriend now." Temari said sincerely.
Gaara stood from his chair and went outside to the rooftop and looked at the ground bellow in deep thoughts.
"Yeah I remember now poor Gaara, before there is Naruto and now there is Uchiha who is now her husband but it's not like Uchiha and Hinata are in love right?"
"I am not sure about that." Temari said who was looking at Sasuke and Hinata hugging each other.
"How about we eat now?" Sasuke asked who felt almost the weight of the world out of his shoulder upon his admittance of liking Hinata.
"Sure I am feeling famished now."
Sasuke and Hinata ate in silence of the delicacies of Suna. While Gaara asked for Temari's presence.
"You asked for me?"
"Yes, I want you to ask for Hinata's presence after she's done eating. I'll meet her in the terrace." Gaara said before excusing himself.
Before Temari could ask why he's asking for Hinata's presence Gaara was gone.
"This is delicious I can't believe the servants are able to prepare all this foods in such short notice." Hinata said in amazement.
"Being leader of a village have perks you are also from a noble clan you should know that."
"I know but whenever we have banquets like this it was usually planned ahead of time."
"Hn."
"Excuse me for interrupting but will you come with me after you are done eating?" Temari asked to Hinata.
"Why would she come with you?" Sasuke asked rudely.
"Gaara wants to talk to her."
"Her alone? About what they will talk about that I can't be with them?" Sasuke asked who stood up.
Hinata was pulling Sasuke's clothes and said, "I'll go with you Temari chan, it's alright Sasuke kun Gaara san probably just want to ask some questions about Naruto k-san."
"Alright, I'll see you later." Temari said and left them alone to eat.
"If you take time I will personally search for you and snatch you away from him even if I have to deal with him or all of Suna." Sasuke said in a serious tone.
"Don't worry Sasuke kun I'm sure my talk with him won't take too long." Hinata said to assure her husband who was both feeling anxious and jealous at the kazekage.
In Konoha Medical Center
Sakura recently regained consciousness.
"What happened to me why am I in this bed here?" Sakura asked weakly.
"You fainted during your patient rounds, I was checking up on your progress after Ino manually corrected your chakra flow. As a medic you are aware of how one's feeling can affect his/her own chakra flow yet you became victim to it. To prevent a repeat of your fainting spell you are to rest for 3 days, stay at home eating healthy meals and at least lessen your thinking of your problems. You are ready to be discharged tomorrow morning." Tsunade said as she updated Sakura's medical chart.
Sakura closed her eyes hoping that everything was just a dream.
Kazekage Residence, Suna
"I shall be waiting for you in our room. Remember what I said earlier Hinata chan for I can't trust the kazekage alone with you."
"Hai. You should rest you fought a number of men earlier today."
"Hn." Sasuke said as he walked away from Hinata.
"There you are Hinata san, follow me I shall lead you to my brother." Temari said who led Hinata to the terrace before excusing herself as she had to say thanks and farewell to the guests of the banquet.
In the edge of the terrace Gaara was leaning over the monkey bar looking bellow patiently waiting for Hinata.
"A-ano Gaara san." Hinata called.
Gaara looked behind him to see the one he was waiting for.
"I'm surprised Uchiha let you come here alone." Gaara said as he walked towards Hinata closing their distance.
"I told him it's alright so he let me."
"I see, do you know why I asked for you here alone?"
"No."
"You see I asked you here because I want you to see the beauty of my village from here. Come I'll show you." Gaara offered his hand which Hinata took and he led her to where he was before.
Hinata can see the houses with lights on showing off their windows making them look like stars from their distance.
"This is beautiful Gaara san."
"Like you Hinata san."
Inside Sasuke and Hinata's room
Sasuke was restless inside their room he kept on thinking about Hinata and Gaara and why he let them to be alone together. He experience personally how psychopathic Gaara was during the chunin exams and although he's aware that Gaara changed, he also saw the admiration in his eyes when looking at Hinata. Aware of the consequences but putting them aside, Sasuke searched for Hinata.
"Wh-at do you mean Gaara san?"
"I've been looking at you during the last war and I was amazed at how much you changed since I last saw you. Gone was the weak Hinata who can't even defeat her cousin who is a branch member of your clan. Now you are a strong kunoichi who can stand out for herself." Gaara said holding into Hinata's hand.
"Gaara san, thanks for the compliment I never thought that you pay attention to someone like me."
"If I knew that Naruto will betray you I would have married you instead."
Panting Sasuke arrived at the terrace hearing what Gaara said and lunged straight towards the kazekage.
"How dare you lay your hand again at my wife!"
Gaara's sand instantly shielded him and Hinata.
"Sasuke kun it's not what it looks like."
"I know for you will never choose him over me." Sasuke said whose sharingan was blaring with anger.
"I could go into war with Konoha for what you did Uchiha but for Hinata san I won't. Besides what are you insecure of are you afraid that she will choose me over you?"
"Why you!" Sasuke said with a fully charged chidori ready to strike any moment.
"Please stop it Gaara san don't provoke him anymore. Sasuke kun is my husband and he's the one I chose to help me forget about Naruto san because he helps me get over him and not think about him, he's the one who picked me up that's why I owe him a lot. In behalf of my husband I ask forgiveness for what he did tonight, if you'll excuse us Sasuke kun and I would like to reire for the night."
Sasuke eased off his chidori and sharingan, his anger dispersed he moment Hinata said that she chose him and that she owes him a lot for what he was doing for her.
Gaara sighed in defeat and let go of Hinata's hand. "I'm sorry for provoking you Uchiha, I was just testing how much you care for Hinata san if you deserve her or not. But remember this that I will not hesitate to kill you and take her if you just as much dare to hurt her in any way."
Hinata went straight into Sasuke's arms.
"I won't hurt her I would rather hurt myself than hurt her." Sasuke promised to both Hinata and the kazekage.
