Chapter 21

Amy wouldn't remember Rory when she woke up, and that pained the Doctor. He knew that Rory would be devastated, but Amy would possibly remember in the future. But he couldn't focus on that right now. Now, he had to focus on the Pandorica and the fact that it was opening.

"You're surrounded, have you got a plan?" River radioed him.

"Yes, now can you get my TARDIS here?" He asked her, standing up. River didn't respond, but he was sure she got the message. He ran up to the surface but dropped his radio. He pressed the button and said "Sorry, sorry, dropped it. Hello, Stonehenge! Who takes the Pandorica, takes the universe. But bad news, everyone."

He jumped up onto the rock. "Because guess who? Ha! Listen, you lot, you're all whizzing about. It's really very distracting. Could you all just stay still a minute because I am talking!" He screamed, and all the spaceships stopped. "The question of the hour is who's got the Pandorica? Answer, I do. Next question. Who's coming to take it from me?" He held out his arms and looked up.

"Come on! Look at me. No plan, no back up, no weapons. Oh, and something else. I don't have anything to lose! So, if you're sitting up there in your silly little spaceship, with all your silly little guns, and you've got any plans on taking the Pandorica tonight, just remember who's standing in your way. Remember every black day I ever stopped you, and then, and then, do the smart thing. Let somebody else try first." He took the radio away from his mouth, and every spaceship flew away. He smiled.

There was someone in the distance watching him, someone on a horse, but he couldn't make out who it was. He could practically feel the pride radiating off the nameless person.

He looked at Rory and tossed him the remote. "That'll keep them squabbling for half an hour." He glanced around. "Romans." He shook his head and went back down into the underhenge.

Rory followed and he looked at the Roman sadly as Amy came into the room. "I'm sorry, Rory, but you're going to have to be very brave now." Amy pushed past Rory.

"Ah, my head." She groaned, coming to stand next to the Doctor. She gave Rory and once-over. "You're the guy, yeah? The one that did the swordy thing."

Rory nodded, looking as if he was unable to speak. "Get some fresh air." The Doctor said to Amy.

"Is it safe up there?"

"Not remotely, but it's fresh."

Amy shrugged and turned to go over to the stairs, but stopped suddenly. The Doctor looked at Amy curiously and followed her gaze.

On the other side of the room was a woman, a very pretty woman at that, with naturally golden blonde hair that fell past her shoulders in waves. She was wearing a long white coat with white pants and a silver shirt. She was smiling at him with love and pride filling her eyes.

They all stared at the woman. She was still smiling at the Doctor, so he slowly raised his hand and waved. He cocked his head, showing the question he had not voiced: who are you?

She seemed to get the messaged, because her smiled melted away and her hand shot up to her mouth. Even though she was on the other side of the room, the Doctor could see the tears building up in her eyes. She turned away and began to walk back to the stairway.

Suddenly a memory hit the Doctor like a blow to the stomach. "Run." He said, grabbing a woman's hand.

And then more memories. "You were fantastic, absolutely fantastic, and you know what? So was I."

And then more. "Rose!" No, he couldn't lose her. Rose meant too much to him! But all he could do was watch helplessly as Rose was pulled to the void.

And more. "Rose Tyler I-."

And even more. "It's really you!" "It's really me." They washed over the Doctor like a tidal wave. He doubled over and hit the Pandorica.

"Doctor?" Amy said, putting a hand on his shoulder. He suddenly shot up, every memory of Rose restored. His mouth fell open as he stared at the woman who should be dead… but wasn't.

"Rose!" He yelled. She turned around, and their eyes met. Then he was running.

She ran towards him, and they met in the center of the room. The Doctor picked her up and spun around with Rose in his arms. He set her down and buried his face in her hair. "Rose, Rose, Rose." He whispered.

She was crying now, but not tears of sadness (he hoped), tears of happiness. And then he was crying tears of joy.

They stood there, wrapped in each other's arms. The Doctor wished this moment could last forever, but there were things he had to worry about involving the Pandorica. He pulled away and wiped Rose's eyes.

She smiled her tongue-in-tooth smile, and he smiled back. He probably looked like an idiot, but he didn't care. "Hello." He whispered.

"Hello." She whispered back. He gripped her hand and spun around to face Amy and Rory. Rory was beaming, but Amy had her head cocked and she looked very confused.

"Amy will remember… eventually." The Doctor said. Well, he sure hoped she did.

Rose knew Amy would remember, but it probably wouldn't be as quick as the Doctor had. Rose squeezed the Doctor's hand, and he squeezed hers. She couldn't believe that even after all this time their hands fit together like two pieces of a puzzle.

Bad Wolf…something in the back of her mind whispered.

Rose knew that she would have to tell the Doctor about Bad Wolf, but she didn't want to. What if the Doctor didn't want her anymore? What if he thought she was intruding on his life? She decided that she would tell him… but not right now.

Amy was still staring at Rose, but she turned to Rory without asking questions. "Good swording, nice swording." She said, mimicking using a sword. She began to walk up the stairs.

"Um, my men are up there… they'll protect you." Rory said.

"Good, love a Roman." Amy said, exiting the room.

Rory turned to face the Doctor and Rose. "She doesn't remember me. How can she not remember me?"

The Doctor seemed to be at a loss for words. "Because you never existed." Rose answered for him.

The Doctor just looked at Rory sadly as he turned to face the Pandorica. "There's going to be an explosion. That's what causes all the cracks." He said.

Rory came to stand next to them. "What's going to explode?"

Rose looked at the Doctor expectantly. He pulled something out of his bigger-on-the-inside pockets. It was wrapped in a cloth.

The shrapnel.

Rose took it and, very slowly, unwrapped it. What she saw made her gasp and drop the shrapnel. She looked at the Doctor and he nodded. She re-wrapped the shrapnel and stuck it back in the Doctor's pocket before Rory could see it.

"What was that?" Rory asked.

Rose smacked a smile onto her face. "Only a memory."

Rory glanced at the Doctor. "So I fell through one of those cracks and now I was never born?"

The Doctor nodded. "Basically. The question is… how did you end up here?" He turned around, dropping Rose's hand. "What happened? From your point of view what happened?"

Rory shrugged. "I don't know. I died and woke up here as a Roman soldier. A proper Roman with a head full of Roman… stuff." Rory pointed to his head. "A whole other life, just here like I'd woken up from a dream. I started to think it was a dream, you and Amy and Rose and Leadworth. And then today, in the camp, the men were talking about the visitors. The girl with the red hair. I thought you'd come back for me. But she can't even remember me."

Rose sighed and grabbed the ring box out of the Doctor's pocket, where she knew he had put it because, hey, she had been watching him.

Rose tossed Rory the box. "Go get her."

"But I don't understand. How am I here?" Rory asked, staring at the ring box.

"Because you are. The universe is big. It's vast and complicated and ridiculous, and sometimes, very rarely, impossible things just happen and we call them miracles, and that's the theory." Rose said, smiling. "Even with everything I've been through I've only seen one." Rose glanced at the Doctor and smiled, remembering when they were reunited. "Now get upstairs. She's Amy and she's surrounded by Romans. I'm not sure history can take it."

Rory smiled at Rose and ran up the steps. The Doctor pulled Rose into another hug.

"You are brilliant." He whispered, kissing the top of her head.

"I know." She said. He pulled away, still gripping her hand, and went back to scanning the Pandorica.

Suddenly Amy ran back down the stairs and came up to Rose. The ginger threw her arms around her. "Rose!" She yelled.

Rose laughed and hugged her back. "Hey."

Amy pulled away and smiled. "I can't believe it."

Rose just shook her head. Amy had remembered her before she remembered her fiancé. Rose needed to do something about that. "Hey Amy, there's a special Roman up there waiting to talk to you."

Amy stared at her, but then realization dawned in her eyes. "Oh. I was rude to him, wasn't I?" Amy whipped around and raced up the stairs.

Rose smiled and the Doctor put an arm around her. "Good job." He pulled out his radio. "River, TARDIS."

"Stay calm, don't raise you voice and don't look alarmed." River's worried voice came through the speaker.

"What, what is it?" The Doctor asked. Rose pulled out her radio. She glanced at the Doctor, who looked very confused.

"They're not real. They can't be. They're all right here in the story book. Those actual Romans. The ones I sent you, the ones you're with right now. They're all in a book in Amy's house. A children's picture book." River said, alarmed.

"What are you doing there?" Rose asked.

"TARDIS went wrong. Doesn't matter." River answered. Rose was starting to get worried now, and she could tell the Doctor was too.

"Something's using her memories… Amy's memories." The Doctor said.

River continued. "There's more. There were burn marks on the grass outside. Places where something landed. Someone's been here."

Rose's hand flew to her mouth. There were things using Amy's memories, probably for something bad, and Rory was here. He was also a memory, part of this whole scheme. Amy was in danger.

"The Romans, they're projections or… duplicates." The Doctor said, obviously beginning to catch on.

"But my lipstick worked on them!" River said. "They have to be real."

Rose slowly removed her hand form her mouth. "They think they're real." She whispered. "Until they're activated."

The Doctor stared at Rose. "Oh."

"It's a trap! It has to be!" River yelled through the radio.

"But who would do that?" The Doctor asked, still in denial. He wanted Amy to be happy. He didn't want everything good to be a trap, and neither did Rose.

Suddenly there was a crash through the radio and Rose flinched. Something was wrong with the TARDIS. "Doctor! The TARDIS!" River said. "Something's wrong! Something else is controlling it!"

"You're flying it wrong." The Doctor told her, rolling his eyes. Rose elbowed him sand shook her head, all happiness in her eyes gone.

"No, she isn't." Rose whispered, and then louder "River! What's the date!"

"It's the 26th of June, 2010" River answered. Rose knew something was wrong about that date as realization dawned in the Doctor's eyes.

"River! Get out of there!" He yelled into the radio. "Any other time zone! Shut it down! I don't care just do something!"

"I can't!" River yelled back.

A loud, squeaky noise- almost like feedback- echoed around Stonehenge, and every Roman bent over, dropping their weapons. "No, no, no." Rose whispered. "Rory!"

Rose was running up the steps now. She was vaguely aware of the fact that the Doctor was still talking to River and that the Pandorica was open now. Rose made it up to the top, dodging lasers being fired out of the Roman Autons' hands. "I'm Rory!" She heard Rory yell.

"No, no, no." She kept mumbling.

"Listen, you have to run." Rory said. "I'll kill you! Just go!"

Rose jumped over and stone and grabbed Amy's arm. "Amy, you have to run."

"Please no." Rory said to himself. "I don't want to! I'm Rory!"

He was strong. Rose put her hand on his shoulder, hoping to reassure him. "Fight it."

"Run!" He said through gritted teeth. "I'm Rory!"

Amy pulled her arm out of Rose's grip. "Williams." She whispered, stepping closer. "Rory Williams, from Leadworth. My boyfriend. How could I ever forget you?"

Amy put her hands on Rory's shoulder. Rose smiled at Amy, happy that she remembered. But Amy needed to get away from here before she got hurt. It didn't matter if Rose got hurt; she'd probably regenerate or something.

"I am not leaving." Amy told Rory. "You are Rory Williams, and you are going to stay Rory Williams."

Rory let out a cry of pain, and Rose tried to yank Amy away. "The ring, yeah. Remember? You never let me wear it in case I lost it." Amy said to Rory. "Show me it."

Rory brought it out, his hands shaking. Amy opened the box and smiled at Rory. Rose heard a click and she tried to pull Amy away.

"No!" Rory said. Suddenly there was a flash, and Amy fell forward into Rory's arms. "Amy!" Rose yelled.

She was breathing hard, but slowly her breathing got shallower and shallower until it stopped.

"Rose! Go! Run!" Rory said before Rose could kneel down next to Amy. "I'm dangerous. And the Doctor is down there with whatever is controlling the Romans."

Rose couldn't argue with him. Rory knew exactly what to say. Giving Amy one last sad look, she whipped around and raced down the steps. What she heard stopped her in her tracks. "The Pandorica is ready." A Dalek said.

"Ready for what?" The Doctor's voice drifted up to her.

"Ready for you." The Dalek responded.

Rose peeked out of the stairway and saw many species, some she couldn't even name. There were Silurains, Sontarans, Sicorax, Autons, and- she shuddered- Daleks and Cybermen.

Two Roman autons had the Doctor in their grips, and they were dragging him towards the Pandorica. The Doctor was struggling, but his feet were slipping on the floor as he was dragged. Their eyes met. He said everything with one glance: Run.

Rose shook her head. She moved to jump out but he glared at her. Rose felt a tear slip down her face as he struggled against the autons. "Now you will be separated from the woman you love." A Dalek said.

"NO!" The Doctor struggled some more. Rose put a hand over her mouth to keep from crying out. Maybe she could break him out of there when everyone was gone.

They sat him in the seat and closed the clamps over his wrists and ankles. Their eyes met, and he mouthed one word: Go.

There was nowhere to run, but she backed up and got out of his sight just to give him peace of mind.

"We will save the universe from you!" A sontaran, most likely the leader, said.

"All projections correlate. All evidence concurs. The Doctor will destroy the universe." The Cyber-leader said.

Rose poked her head back around the corner. She had to see what was going on. "No, no, no. You've got it wrong." The Doctor said.

A cyberman spoke up. "The Pandorica was constructed to ensure the safety of the Alliance."

"A scenario was devised from the memories of your companion." The white dalek said.

No, no, no! They were going to trap the Doctor in the Pandorica and she couldn't do anything about it. Her mind was racing as she analyzed all the things she could do to help him. They all ended in her annihilation.

"Total event collapse! Every sun will supernova at every moment in history. The whole universe will never have existed. Please, listen to me!" The Doctor shouted, almost crying now.

"Seal the Pandorica." The Cyber-leader said.

The Pandorica began to close. No! She stuck her hand out and the Doctor saw her. His eyes widened, but he also reached out. It was almost like they were pressing their hands together… if they eliminated the space of the entire room between them.

The Doctor drew his hand back in as it was almost smashed. "No! Please, listen to me! The TARDIS is exploding right now and I'm the only one who can stop it! Listen to me!"

He was cut off as the Pandorica closed completely.

Let's discuss Time of the Doctor.

That was sooo sad. I was crying my eyes out. It was a bit rushed and they tried to fit a lot into one episode. But I loved it anyway. I think it was the perfect tribute for Matt and I loved when Amy came out and said "Raggedy Man, goodnight."

He ripped the bowtie off his vest and my heart ripped out of my chest.

But the regeneration was really fast it was like he sneezed and then BAM CAPALDI. But I'm optimistic about twelve, I think he'll be great. But yeah.

Thanks to all my bowties
