Hey guys, AuroraeCanta1432 here again. So I want to give another round of thanks to everyone who has commented, followed, and favorited this story. I greatly appreciate it. Now, I just want to give a heads up that the reason I rated this T is because of the 'language' that I use. I only use this as an emphasis of feelings and so forth so I apologize if you don't like it because trust me, I've never said them to my friends and I never plan to say them as myself. These are just characters and a narrator (not me).
"Are you guys ready?"
"I am," Kankuro replied to his sensei while putting the last vile of extra poison in his bag.
"Almost, I'm to grab a few last paper bombs." Temari left the room, also leaving to grab her youngest brother.
"Ok, but be quick," and their sensei too left the room.
They had been in the living room packing for their next mission: the chunin exams. But unlike normal people, they were not looking forward to any sort of promotion. In fact, a promotion was not even the goal. It was really an assigned mission to destroy the village they were traveling to. That is all they knew, except the Kazekage himself of course. Lately, no one had been able to follow his thought process ever since he had returned from a short journey outside the village. Plus, he had been even more harsh on Gaara since his return, telling him if he could not learn to control the demon properly, he would give him a beating, and beatings had not been used in decades. So from then on, he started calling in Gaara on the weekends for a weekly analysis to determine his progress. If it was not good enough for the Kazekage, he called for the whip. Gaara hated his father even more, fearing him more and more. As he would be thinking of all his built-up hate, he would scream in agony as his supposed-father would beat him for his uselessness. Then even more gruesome, collecting his constantly dripping blood. He never knew it could be done, or even why he let it, but Shukaku allowed his defenses to fail these constant weekends. Week after week, he was called a failure, and worse, straight to the face. Week after week, his urge to kill his father grew, not knowing what had already happened.
"Gaara..." Temari had carefully walked into her youngest brother's room. She saw him sitting by the window pane out looking the city. Though it was the small window, the view almost always amazed him. The swirling sand dancing in the air, while people in the village chatter and pay for their goods. The best of all, toward the edge of the village was an open area for training, to which direction he constantly stared at...
"Gaara." She finally caught his attention as he kept his scowling (or expressionless, no one knew now) face and turned toward his sister.
"Yes Temari." He turned around and stood up straight to acknowledge his older sister.
"Are you ready to go?"
There was a hesitation as he went to answer her. He had been confused, thinking about his research relating to her origins. "Is this place... where she came from? The Village Hidden in the Leaves?"
She was shocked. She had never even thought of their mission in that point of view. "Um... it is..."
"Then why are we attacking it? It's her home. We can't destroy her real home that she doesn't even know?"
"That's exactly why this is a topic secret mission, so nobody will know! Now come on, we gotta get going or else..."
"No!" Shock completely covered Temari's face as she heard her brother's refusal. She had started to leave and her back was to him at this point, but now it took all her strength not to look at him.
"What did you..."
"I said no. I'm not going to destroy a village until all the people there don't mind."
"You may not like it, but no matter what, you are the son of the Kazekage. No matter how much you hate him, he is the leader of this nation and you must respect your father..."
"When he doesn't even respect me? How can I do that?! You're asking the impossible from me. He really thinks killing the jinchuriki of the village will get rid of the Shukaku threat? Well doesn't that sound pleasant but it's not reality. I've been thinking about this, but anybody who is controlled is scum, and those who control those scum and are pathetic, selfish, and just... there are no words to such... trash!
"What's going on in here?" Kankuro unfortunately had to sense an argument down the hallway from the living room a floor below Gaara's room.
"'Big and bold' here doesn't want to do the mission."
"What?!" He stared in dismay. "B-b-but... you have to! Plus it's the chunin exams and you could be promoted to the next rank!"
"I don't care! I won't destroy their village!"
"But it's for the good of our village. They've been controlling us and didn't you just say those who manipulate others are far worse than trash?"
He was stunned. He had never known those facts before that Konahagakure was controlling Sunagakure. He only knew they were considered the most powerful. This was new! This changed his whole stream of hatred. It had been flowing through his veins since they had separated him from her in the genin groups. It only grew more deadly when she was framed and thrown in jail, then as he reflected on those many years ago from his uncle. 'Yashimaru...'
"Come on Gaara; for the good of our village and protecting her, who is within these walls." Temari hit the target as she mentioned the only other person he thought of.
"Ok then, I'm ready." And walked between his two older siblings, who were still staring in the direction of where he once stood. "And so you two now know better: I will kill all the scum on the earth since there is no point to life but dying. You should both know that, being locked up in one place for your whole life." He left swiftly, and silently.
'Come on Hinata, you need to explain what happened. If you don't, Kami knows what will happen...' Hinata kicked he thin layer of sand in the street that lead to her home. She had been preparing a long while for this talk. She was not sure how beneficial it would actually be, but she had to try. She had to learn the truth, the real truth and not what she just saw.
Knock, knock 'Who could it be? It's still quite early in the morning to be visiting anyone.' Matsuri slowly stood up from the table where she had been eating her rice for breakfast. As she opened the door, she was surprised to see who her visitor was, nearly cowering in total fear.
