Chapter 25
Rose shook with silent sobs as she heard the Dalek begin to power up. "We've got to move, that thing's powering up again." Rory said, still pointing his hand gun at the Dalek.
"You guys go on." Rose said, standing up and holding out her hand. "I'll be right with you."
Rory and Amy both stared at her, but River ushered them out of the room.
"YOU WILL BE EXTER-MIN-ATED!" The Dalek screeched as it began to move forward.
Rose glared at the Dalek, her hand still outstretched. She thought of every bad moment, every dark thing related to the Dalek's. She thought about how they ruined her life. It was their fault she had gone to the parallel universe in the first place. Rose pushed all of her anger and used it as fuel.
"Not yet. Your systems are still restoring, which means your shield density is compromised." Rose said darkly. "But even if you had a shield you would still have no chance."
The Dalek stopped moving. "REC-ORDS INDICATE YOU WILL SHOW MER-CY. YOU ARE A COMPANION OF THE DOC-TOR." The Dalek said in its monotone voice.
Rose smiled darkly, her hand beginning to glow. "I'm the Bad Wolf. Check your records again."
Rose was angry. So angry. Yes, she showed mercy most of the time, she wasn't a horrible person, but the Daleks had done everything wrong and nothing right. They tortured people, the ruined lives, the killed people… she could go on and on. And now there was nothing, absolutely nothing, that was keeping her from killing this Dalek slowly and painfully.
After a few moments the Dalek said "MER-CY."
Her hand glowed even more. "Say it again."
"MER-CY!"
"One. More. Time."
"MER-CY!"
And with that one last cry, the Dalek turned into pile of ash.
Well, after a lot of screaming coming from the Dalek as it slowly burned alive.
Rose smiled darkly and ran after Amy and Rory, the golden glow that had been surrounding her starting to disappear.
"DOCTOR!" Rory was screaming when Rose entered the room, still glowing faintly. "He was dead.
"Who told you that?" River asked. Rose glanced at the jacket that had been covering the Doctor, who was no longer there.
"The Doctor!" Amy answered.
"Rule one." River said. "The Doctor lies."
Rose walked down the steps, little golden wisps trailing behind her. She received some very strange looks from Amy and Rory, but River just smiled in understanding. "Where's the Dalek?" Amy asked, glancing back up the steps.
"It no longer exists." Rose answered simply but darkly, and Amy took a step back.
Rose exited the hall, followed by River, Amy, and Rory. "Did you have a gun?" Rory asked.
Rose shook her head. What was the point of keeping secrets now? The Doctor was dead, the universe was collapsing, oh, and the stars were going out.
Of course.
"But-." Rory began, but stopped himself when a golden light surrounded Rose.
She whipped around to face them. "Does that answer your question?" She snapped.
Rory and Amy's mouths opened and closed simultaneously as River just smiled grimly.
Not receiving an answer, Rose turned back around and entered the room where the Pandorica was held. What she saw stopped her in her tracks.
The Doctor was slumped forward in the Pandorica, strapped in. River rushed past Rose, stood in front of the Doctor, and put her hands on either side of the Doctor's face. Rose couldn't help but feel a little jealous.
"We were a diversion." Rose said, realizing the Doctor's plan, and wanting to slap him for it. "As long as the Dalek was chasing us he could work down here."
Rose looked up and realized that the explosion was glowing brighter, and everything in the room had disappeared. River explained that it was history collapsing, and Rose shuddered. Soon, they would be nothing but another piece of erased history.
"Doctor, what were you doing?" River asked, shaking his shoulders lightly.
The Doctor whispered something that sounded like. "Bi- bah- toh."
"Big Bang Two." Rose translated. "That's what brings everything back." Rose felt tears make their way down her face as she slowly realized what the Doctor planned to do.
"Oh." River whispered, turning to face them. "The TARDIS is still burning. It's exploding at every point in history. If you threw the Pandorica into the explosion, right into the heart of the fire-."
Rose made eye contact with River. "Then let there be light." She whispered. "The light from the Pandorica would explode everywhere at once."
But then a realization hit Rose like a blow to the stomach. River nodded grimly. "But he's going to be the one to fly the Pandorica right into the heart of the explosion." The curly-haired woman said.
Rose started to cry silently as River talked to the Doctor a bit more. Rory hugged Amy close.
River walked over to them. "Amy, he wants to talk to you."
Amy didn't move. "What happens to us?"
"We wake up where we ought to be. None of this ever happens and we don't remember it." River answered, but there was obviously something she was hiding.
"But the Doctor doesn't come back." Rose whispered. "He'll be right at the center of the explosion. He'll be on the other side of the cracks. The Doctor…" Rose let out a choked sob "The Doctor will have never existed."
Tears streamed down Amy's face as she walked slowly over to the Doctor. Rose started crying again, and River pulled Rose closer, letting the weeping woman cry onto her shoulder.
River rubbed soothing circles on her back, but Rose could not stop crying.
Through her sobs she heard Amy and the Doctor discussing things about bringing Amy's parents back and the crack in her bedroom wall and things like that.
"He doesn't want to talk to you?" Rose asked after she had slowed her crying.
"He doesn't really know me yet." River said… but there was something else hidden in her words. "And now he never will."
Rose, River and Rory stood in silence for a few moments before Amy came walking back over to them. She turned to face Rose. "Go talk to him."
Rose nodded slowly and walked over to the Pandorica. It felt like an eternity before she stood in front of the Doctor.
"Don't go." Were the first words that popped out of her lips.
"Rose Marion Tyler." The Doctor whispered, looking up to meet her eyes. "My beautiful Bad Wolf. We could have done so much together. Just you and me."
Rose shook her head, tears streaming down her face. "No, stop that. You're making me sad."
The Doctor smiled sadly. "Come closer." Rose took a few steps forward. "Now I can't exactly hug you but-."
Rose cut him off by throwing her arms around his neck. She cried into his shoulder as the Doctor buried his face in her hair. "Just take me with you." Rose said.
"No." The Doctor said, and Rose pulled away. "You'll have Jackie back… and Mickey too. You and Mickey may even still have a relationship."
Rose shook her head. "No, you can't reset the other universe. And Mickey and Martha getting together was all them and no you."
The Doctor smiled sadly, and Rose put her hand o top of his. "You know" he said "I was always willing to go domestic, just for you."
Rose matched his watery smile as more tears made their way down her face. She leaned forward and kissed his forehead.
"I'll forget you." Rose said, trying hard not to start sobbing uncontrollably. "I'll forget everything you've done, and I'll still be a shop girl in the middle of London."
The Doctor shook his head. "You are so much more, so much more, than a shop girl." He said lovingly. "You are brilliant, and beautiful, and brave… and just wonderful. Don't forget that, Rose Tyler. Don't you ever forget that."
The entire room shook and River called "Doctor, it's speeding up!"
Rose let out a choked sob, not able to hold it back. "I love you." She whispered, stroking his cheek.
The Doctor kissed her cheek and Rose smiled sadly as he whispered "I love you too."
Before Rose could reply, or even hug him, the room shook and the Pandorica began to close. "NO!" Rose screamed, trying to keep the doors from shutting. The Doctor nodded to something behind her, and she felt someone grab her arms and pulled her back. "NO!"
Rose struggled against the tight grip that the person, who happened to be River, had on her. "Let me go!" Rose screamed.
The Doctor gave her one last sad, loving look before the Pandorica closed, shutting him inside. Rose collapsed, no longer able to fight, and just sobbed. She curled up into a ball on the floor and sobbed her heart out.
"Rose." Amy said. "He loves you. Don't forget that."
Rose didn't respond, and just continued to sob.
The room shook, and River pushed them all to the side yelling "Get back!"
There was a huge flash of light, a thunder clap, and the Pandorica took off.
River's device beeped, and she pulled it out. "It's a message from the Doctor."
"Well what does it say?" Amy asked.
River looked at them all sadly, and Rose sat up so she could see the message. "Geronimo." Rose read aloud.
They all looked up at the hole in the roof of the museum, tears in their eyes.
There was a huge bang that echoed off everything in the universe, and everything turned white.
And the Doctor was no more.
