Chapter 27
Rose patted the console lovingly, trying to calm herself down.
She felt the low hum of the TARDIS in the back of her mind. She had never realized how empty her mind felt before she had this connection with the TARDIS. Rose smiled as the hum in her mind grew more affectionate.
Hello wolf. Something said into her mind, and Rose stumbled backwards. I am the TARDIS. I cannot keep this connection for much longer, or I risk draining my energy. I just wanted to welcome you home.
Rose stared around the TARDIS in shock, before a grin that spread from ear-to-ear appeared on her face. So far everything that came with being a Time Lady was wonderful.
Suddenly the door opened and the Doctor stepped in. "Hello." He breathed.
"I thought I lost you." Rose whispered, taking a few steps forward. The Doctor took three long strides and engulfed Rose in a hug.
"I'm sorry." He whispered. "I'm so, so sorry. Will you ever forgive me?"
Rose buried her face in his Jacket. "Of course, you stupid alien."
The Doctor pulled away and smiled at her. He skipped over to the console and pressed a few buttons. "Where are we going?" Rose asked, walking forward to stand next to the Doctor.
"Oh, just to the dancing part." He turned around and smiled at her.
Rose couldn't help but smile back.
Amy was dancing with the Doctor, who was pumping his fists and spinning around. Basically, he was terrible. "We're horrible!" Amy cried, laughing. "That is embarrassing!"
She sat down next to Rory and Rose, who were laughing. The Doctor started waving his hands in the air and moving up and down. The kids at the party copied him and Amy joined in Rory and Rose's laughter.
"You look like a drunk giraffe!" Rose yelled at him. "You're embarrassing me!"
Amy laughed even harder. Rose stood up and grabbed the Doctor's hand. "C'mon. It's time I taught you to dance again."
Amy smiled as Rose led the Doctor to the side of the room and instructed him where to put his feet. "They really love each other." Amy said, and Rory stared at her.
"Well yeah, 'course they do." Rory said.
"No, I mean they are really in love." Amy said, smiling as Rose showed the Doctor where to place his hands. "Just look at them."
Rory smiled at the couple. "Just like us."
Amy leaned in and kissed him. "Just like us."
It took a bit, but the Doctor finally mastered the basics. As the up-beat music switched to a slow song, Rose dragged the Doctor onto the dance floor.
They started out slow. The Doctor tripped a few times and Rose would catch him and laugh. Eventually, the Doctor got the hang of it and they were twirling and spinning across the floor.
"The world didn't end because the Doctor danced." Rose said jokingly, passing in front of Amy and Rory.
"It almost did." He said, and Rose laughed.
The song switched to something Rose recognized. It was "In The Mood."
"Oh, no way." Rose said, stopping.
"What?" Amy asked, coming to stand next to them with Rory.
The Doctor stared at Rose and then started swinging back and forth to the beat, snapping his fingers. "No way!" Rose and the Doctor laughed.
She copied his dance moves. "What is it?" Amy asked.
Rose turned to face her and smiled. "This is our song."
The Doctor grabbed her arm and spun her around. Rose laughed as he took the lead, spinning her around and dancing across the floor.
Rose smiled as memories of another time and another place washed over her. It seemed like lifetimes ago when she taught the Doctor to dance the first time.
The song changed again, and Amy and Rory began to dance, swaying back and forth to the slow beat.
Rose and the Doctor stood off to the side, smiling at the couple. The Doctor took Rose's hand and laced his fingers with hers. "Two thousand years." He whispered. "The boy who waited. Good on you mate."
Rose smiled up at the Doctor, and he dragged her outside. They ran up to the TARDIS and he started to unlock it when someone said "did you dance?"
Rose turned around and was met by non-other than River Song. "Well, of course you did. You always dance at weddings."
Rose handed River her journal, and River took it, smiling. "The writing is all back, but I didn't peak" The Doctor said.
"Thank you." She whispered as the Doctor handed her back her vortex manipulator.
River strapped her vortex manipulator to her wrist and gave Rose a look that said tell him.
"River," the Doctor said "who are you."
River looked at him sadly. The wind blew her hair into her face. "You'll find out very soon now." She said. "And I'm sorry, but that's when everything changes."
River turned and walked off. Rose and the Doctor stared at her with confusion etched into the lines of their faces. She suddenly disappeared in a flash of light.
The Doctor turned to face Rose and she sighed. It was time. "Doctor." Rose said, taking a deep breath. "You're probably wondering how I escaped the void."
The Doctor nodded. "Yes."
"Well… it was the Bad Wolf."
The Doctor opened his mouth to say something, but Rose put a finger over his lips to stop him. "Let me finish." He nodded ad she lowered her hand.
"I met the Bad Wolf. She was always there, always hidden in the back of my mind, and the amount of emotion and fear I had while I was in the void basically woke her up." Rose paused to take a breath. "She took me to this little pocket place of the void, where I was safe and there was no darkness. Basically it wasn't Hell."
The Doctor nodded. "Well, she said she could re-incorporate me back into the universe, but she couldn't get me out. So to actually get me out, she tied me to the TARDIS."
The Doctor's mouth fell open. "But that should've killed you! You're only human!"
Rose smiled at him sadly. "She said there would be side effects." Rose locked eyes with him. "They were… um…" how was she going to say this? "well, it would be easier if I showed you."
Rose took his hand and placed it on the left side of her chest. The Doctor stared at her curiously.
Amy and Rory came around the corner. "Hey-." Amy began, but stopped when she saw Rose and the Doctor's expressions.
Rose slowly took the Doctor's other hand and placed it on the right side of her chest, and his eyes widened. Before Rose could say anything to explain, the Doctor crushed his lips to hers.
Rose was vaguely aware of Amy and Rory's mouths falling open in shock, but Rose didn't care. She kissed the Time Lord passionately, her fingers working their way into his hair. He pulled her closer, crushing any space between them as he kissed her harder.
Rose pulled away, out of breath but smiling. "Forever." The Doctor whispered.
"And beyond." Rose said, smiling.
Amy walked up to them. "What did I miss?"
The Doctor smiled. "Rose, my wonderful, beautiful Bad Wolf, just did the impossible!"
Rose smiled at him, her tongue in tooth smile, and the Doctor continued. "She's like me!" he finished, scooping her up and spinning around, causing Rose to laugh.
"Do you mean she's…?" Rory asked, not needing to finish.
"A Time Lady?" The Doctor said, setting Rose down. "Yes!"
He dragged Rose into the TARDIS, and the newlyweds followed.
He started fiddling with the console.
"You just saved all of space and time!" Rory exclaimed, noticing the Doctor's ready to go explore expression. "Take the evening off!"
"Space and time isn't safe yet. The TARDIS exploded for a reason. Something drew the TARDIS to this particular date, and blew it up. Why? And why now?" He turned to face them, whipping his white scarf off and putting it on Rose, who smiled.
The phone started ringing, and the Doctor grabbed it. "Hello? Oh, hello. I'm sorry, this is a very bad line." He paused for a moment, listening to the person on the other line. "No, no, no, but that's not possible. She was sealed into the seventh Obelisk. I was at the prayer meeting." Rose raised her eyebrows. "Well, no, I get that it's important. An Egyptian goddess loose on the Orient Express… in space. Give us a mo."
He turned to Amy and Rory. "Sorry, something's come up. I think this is goodbye."
Amy nodded. "Goodbye."
"Definitely goodbye." Rory agreed.
Amy ran to the doors of the TARDIS and threw them open. "Goodbye!" She yelled, and then closed the door.
The Doctor smiled and pulled the phone back up to his ear. "We'll be there soon, your majesty."
Rose laughed, and the Doctor scooped her up, bridal style, and took her down the hallway, laughing.
Everything that had happened was impossible. Completely impossible.
But who ever said the impossible was impossible?
And well…
I'll leave the rest of the evening up to your imagination.
