Almost a month had passed since Kurenai had shared that tender moment with Naruto and since then the relationship had progressed well. Kurenai still had doubts about sharing Naruto with this other women, but she had slowly forgot about that as every moment she spent with Naruto felt like pure joy.
Kurenai was slightly nervous though, a messenger hawk had just been sent to alert all jounins of a meeting. Kurenai had figured what it was about but didn't want to let her mind get ahead of herself.
Kurenai quickly entered the hokages office followed by many jounin. She then looked to Hiruzen when he coughed once everyone had arrived. "it is already that time of the year again and the chunin exams will be starting." Hiruzen said.
Murmurs broke out of people talking about the exam, but Kurenai was debating with herself about her team. She knew that Naruto and Sasuke were ready even if she didn't want to have a chance of losing Naruto to the exam, but Hinata she wasn't sure about.
She knew that she had grown drastically, but these exams were not meant for the light hearted. "I will now take recommendations from the rookie senseis." Hiruzen said. Kakashi Asuma and Kurenai stepped forward as they were the senseis.
Kakashi then stepped forward. "I Kakashi Hatake sensei of team seven recommend my students Shino Aburame Kiba Inuzuka and Sakura Haruno for the chunin exams." Kakashi said. Then Asuma stepped forward. "I Asuma Sarutobi sensei of team ten recommend my students Ino Yamanaka Choji Akimichi and Shikamaru Nara for the chunin exams." Asuma said.
'why am I even doubting them again of course they are ready for this.' Kurenai thought to herself. "I Kurenai Yuhi sensei of team eight recommend my students Sasuke Uchiha Naruto Namikaze and Hinata Hyuga for the chunin exams." Kurenai said with a smirk.
Sarutobi then let a smirk come to his face as he heard Naruto's name. "very well for the first time in five years all rookie teams have been recommended. This chunin exam will be different though." Hiruzen said causing everyone to look at him.
"while it has not been publicly announced we have pending peace treaties with Kumo Kiri and Iwa." Hiruzen said shocking everyone. "so this chunin exam will be very special not only will many more teams be participating, but for the first time in almost 60 years all five kage will be in attendance for this event." Hiruzen said once again surprising everyone.
"I will now take suggestions from none rookie team senseis for this chunin exam." Hiruzen said. The first of a few to step forward was the ever energetic Might Guy screaming about his teams flames of youth.
Team eight was waiting silently on the bridge where their team always met with their sensei. Naruto then looked up to the top of the bridge where Kurenai arrived in a shunshin. "you're late Kurenai-chan that's not like you." Naruto said.
Kurenai slightly blushed, sure she and Naruto had kissed quite a few times but she couldn't get used to the affectionate name that Naruto put so much love into. "I just came from a jounin meeting regarding the chunin exams. I have recommended you three for the exams that start in one week." Kurenai said giving her team their papers.
"because the exams are coming up and I think you guys are ready I am upping your training schedule for this week." Kurenai said. Naruto and Sasuke smirked. "actually Kurenai-chan since you recommended us me and Sasuke have a project we need to finish, we will see you in a week for the exam." Naruto said.
Kurenai was a bit let down but nodded anyways and waved them off. "very well be safe Naruto-kun Sasuke-kun." Kurenai called to the two as they walked off. She then turned to Hinata. "alright Hinata-chan come at me with everything you got." Kurenai said.
Hinata nodded and charged forward only for Kurenai to block or dodge her.
The week had carried on like this for some time until it was the day of the exams. Naruto and Sasuke had gotten up early to train and get equipped for the exams.
As planned the two met up with Hinata at the team bridge before leaving towards the academy with Hinata. On the way to the academy she questioned the two boys on their new looks. Naruto was wearing blue shinobi pants and shirt that had bands on the ankles and wrist for keeping them from being loose.
Naruto also no longer had the massive blade with him that he did before; instead he had a long Katana in a sheath on his back that had a chain dangling from the hilt of the katana that was about two feet long (Tensa Zangetsu version 3).
Sasuke had changed a bit too, but he had kept his black shinobi clothes the only real difference was that he had a blade hanging from his side like a samurai that had the Uchiha fan symbol on it. Naruto had also changed his previous face mask of his uncles and had a black headband with long ends on.
Naruto and Sasuke had told her that they had just decided to change pace for the chunin exams. Hinata had accepted that explanation and before long they arrived at the academy. When they entered and went up one flight of stairs they noticed a bunch of genin crowding around a door that said 301 above it.
'pathetic.' Naruto and Sasuke thought hardly believing people could not see through the genjutsu. That thought changed though when Naruto noticed a boy clad in a green jumpsuit. 'So he must be part of this Guy's team that Kakashi-niisan told us about.' Naruto thought before he turned and kept walking to the next floor with his team.
Lee noticed this and he and his team quickly followed after team eight. Naruto and his team had been passing through a large dojo room on their way to room 301 when lee jumped down in front of them. "you are Naruto Namikaze and Sasuke Uchiha I wish to challenge either of you and prove that the genius of hard work can beat the natural genius." Lee said. Sasuke spoke first. "normally one gives their name if the wish to challenge someone." Sasuke said.
Lee's eyes went wide when he realized he hadn't given his name. "I am Rock Lee of team nine and I wish to challenge one of you." Lee said. Naruto huffed as he stepped forward. "Lee-san we should get to our exam but afterwards I accept your request, but just so you know all true geniuses are ones of hard work. Me and Sasuke have trained hard every day to get to where we are." Naruto said.
Lee's eyes sparkled with a glint of fire before lee started ranting to himself about how Naruto and Sasuke had such bright flames of youth. Naruto and team then turned away and walked to the entrance door.
Naruto then smiled as he saw his sensei waiting for them to arrive, Naruto's smile then got even wider as he got closer to his sensei. "hi Kurenai-chan." Naruto said before he kissed her deeply. Kurenai couldn't help herself and kissed back before she lightly pulled back much too soon for Naruto's liking.
"I came to wish you guys good luck in your exams and to give you some advice. No matter what don't forget the best skills of a shinobi and look underneath the underneath." Kurenai said with a smile.
Naruto then backed up and smiled more. "Kurenai-chan I want you to meet Yugito-chan." Naruto said. Kurenai would have asked what he meant since he had told her that Yugito was the name of the jinchuriki girl he liked.
But her answer came in the form of a blur from the chunin hopeful waiting zone crashing through the door and tackling Naruto making him tumble. Kurenai watched in surprise as a very beautiful looking girl straddled Naruto's waist as she kissed Naruto on the lips deeply.
The most surprising thing to her though was the young girl's tails. Much like Naruto she had two tails but hers appeared cat like. The two jinchuriki's tail wrapped together as the kiss deepened. Kurenai's and Hinata's faces had flushed in embarrassment, but Kurenai's more so for wishing that was her at the moment.
The young girl then stopped kissing Naruto and moved up but kept her sitting spot on Naruto's waist. "I missed you Naru-kun." Yugito said with a smile. Naruto smiled and grabbed Yugito moving her off him and standing up. "I missed you to Yugi-chan. I want you to meet Kurenai-chan though." Naruto said pointing to Kurenai.
Yugito then turned to Kurenai and walked up to her. Yugito lightly sniffed her before she hissed noticing how much of Naruto she smelled on her. Kurenai though while surprised knew this was a sort of test and looked Yugito in the eyes with no fear.
Yugito hissed for a little longer before she looked into Kurenai's eyes. Seeing no fear she stopped hissing and licked Kurenai's face before she rubbed up against Kurenai. Hinata and Kurenai were utterly surprised by this before Yugito moved back to Naruto.
Once she was near him she purred and rested her head on his shoulder. "I like her, she's a keeper." Yugito said before she continued purring. Kurenai looked at Naruto confused looking for an answer.
Naruto seeing Kurenai's gaze answered. "because of Yugito's tenant she took on many cat like qualities so that was her way of testing you. The lick and face rub was her way of saying she accepts you as like family." Naruto explained.
Kurenai just nodded before she looked towards the door. "right well all of better get going, but it was good to meet you Yugito-chan." Kurenai said. "likewise Kurenai-chan." Yugito said.
The now four genin walked into the chunin hopeful waiting zone and Naruto smiled. Sure he had felt their chakra which is why he knew of Yugito, but it was nice to see all his friends again in person. As they had all met before in the mindscape all of Naruto's friends that he had met as he traveled were in a large group.
Naruto and his team plus Yugito walked over to the large gathered group and started to talk. Quickly though the other rookies took notice too and walked over to the group. "man you to huh Naruto." Shikamaru said from next to Choji and Ino.
Next to talk was the ever present Kiba. "hey Naruto ready to fail this exam while I become a chunin." Kiba said. Naruto just choose to ignore that as he continued to talk with his friends.
Naruto did turn though as a boy with glasses approached the group. "you know you should really be more quite your drawing attention to yourselves." The boy said. Naruto then turned and looked at all the genin and focused some of his K.I at them.
Almost instantly a lot of genin fell to their knees and started to sweat while the ones that were still standing looked like they wanted to fall. "thanks for the tip." Naruto said to the boy. Kabuto meanwhile took in a deep breath when Naruto stopped his K.I flow.
'interesting I better make a move.' Kabuto thought. "as fellow leaf genin I could offer you some information on these exam, and I'm Kabuto by the way." He said. Naruto narrowed his eyes slightly. "what kind of information?" Naruto asked.
Kabuto smirked while pushing his glasses up. "all kinds from info on some of the test to a specific competitor." Kabuto said. Kiba being brash moved forward first. "Naruto Namikaze." He said. Then everyone was surprised when Shino stepped forward.
Fu of Taki, Gaara of the desert, and Yugito Nii of Kumo." Shino said in a light voice. 'so your bugs are useful well played getting information on possible threats.' Naruto thought while Sasuke smirked.
"that's no fun you know their names." Kabuto said before he drew the four cards from a stack that he had pulled out during his explanation. "let's see first Gaara of the desert." Kabuto said.
"mission history 8 C-rank and amazingly 1 B-rank. Being a foreign ninja I don't have any information on his skills, but I do know he and his teammates are the children of the currently Yondaime Kazekage, also it appears he has returned from every mission without a scratch." Kabuto said shocking and scaring all that were listening.
Kabuto then placed the next card down. "Fu of Taki, 12 D-rank missions and 3 C-rank nothing else is known of Fu or her teammates." Kabuto said again grabbing another card. "Yugito Nii of Kumo, grandniece of current Raikage Ay and his brother Bee, sensei Raikage's brother Bee said to be the only perfect jinchuriki, 20 D-rank missions 4 C-rank missions and 2 B-rank missions, teammates Omoi Karui and Samui of Kumo." Kabuto said. Again those listening made a note to stay away.
Kabuto then pulled the last card. "Naruto Uzumaki Namikaze Senju, son of Minato Namikaze Yondaime hokage and Kushina Uzumaki the red death of konoha, grandson of Tsunade and Jiraiya of the sannin and great great grandson/nephew of Hashirama and Tobirama Senju the first and second Hokages. Sensei Kurenai Yuhi genjutsu mistress of konoha, teammates Sasuke Uchiha and Hinata Hyuga, mission history 6 D-rank 2 C-rank 1 A-rank and 1 S-rank mission." Kabuto said with a slight stutter at the end.
Everyone in the room except those he knew looked at Naruto in fear, to be a genin and go on both a A-rank and S-rank and survive was no easy task. "Skills in all categories are above average except those in Nin, Gen, Fuin, and Kenjutsu, those are off the chart. Recorded Mokuton Kekkei Genkai, all other abilities are blocked information with S-class level access required." Kabuto finished.
No one knew how to react to the information they had received. Naruto then stepped next to Kabuto. "I must say that information is very good Kabuto-san, you're an excellent spy." Naruto said shocking Kabuto.
"it's a shame I really don't like enemy spies, I'm afraid you know too much and for that you have to be questioned or killed." Naruto said. Kabuto would have said something but Naruto had already put a paralysis seal on him and he couldn't move.
Naruto then went to Kabuto and knocked him out and sealed him into a scroll. Just then as he sealed Kabuto a large poof of smoke appeared in the room. "alright maggots shut up and sit down where you get assigned." The loud voice from the front said.
