Chapter 10
"You want to run that by me again Leroy?" Gibbs could hear the disbelief, along with a hint of anger, in his dad's voice and sighed, he'd just spent the last twenty minutes bringing Jackson up to speed with what had happened to Tim and the discovery that had been made because of it. Ducky and Brad had both wisely kept out of the discussion, with Brad quietly leaving the room part way through whilst Ducky sat down next to Tim's bed on the other side of the room.
"Dad….." Gibbs started.
"No, Leroy. No!" Jackson refuted as he got up from the chair, banging his cane forcefully on the floor, another indication of his refusal to believe what his son had told him, before he moved around his son and started towards the door.
"I've got proof." Gibbs stated simply as he reached into his jacket pocket, turning towards his father; he hadn't shown his father the results of the DNA analysis yet, having hoped it won't be necessary.
Jackson, one hand reaching toward the door handle, turned and looked at the folded piece of paper his son was casually waving lightly in front of him; for a moment Gibbs thought his dad would sit back down and look at the information; instead and without a word, Jackson snatched the sheet of paper from Gibbs' hand and tore it to shreds before storming from the room.
"Well that went well." Gibbs stated sarcastically, looking back over at Ducky.
"Give him some time Jethro." Ducky said "You witnessed what happened, you know Tim, and you have had time to start getting used to the idea. Jack's in shock, he doesn't know Tim – he's only met him twice, you've just told him Tim's his son and that son is currently in ICU."
"Yeah, you're right, as usual." Gibbs replied as he made his way over to Tim's bed, cupping his hand on the younger agents cheek "You've got to get through this Tim, you need to spend time some quality getting to know our dad, you hear me?"
"We have some others to deal with Jethro." Ducky reminded, Gibbs looked up questioningly. "We should tell the others before they find out another way."
Gibbs looked back down at Tim. "Think Tim has the right to know first Ducky."

"Oh my god!" Palmer exclaimed; horrified at what he had just seen on the video evidence of the bank robbery. Tobias Fornell and Ron Sacks couldn't have agreed more with the statement, as they too were shocked.
"They were going to kill that little girl just because she was crying?" Delilah stated in disbelief
"Certainly looked that way, if the kid hadn't stepped in when he did….." Ron Sacks shuddered as his voice trailed off, the thoughts of what could have happened running through his mind.
"Don't forget the father, he's the only reason that kid's not dead." Tobias reminded as the door to the lab opened and Agent Taylor walked in carrying a large box.
"Yeah and that kid grew up to be one of the best this agency has." Balboa stated with pride, behind him however agent Finley from agent Taylor's team, had a distinct look of envy in his eyes.
"Agent Fornell?" Jimmy questioned.
"Yeah Palmer what is it?"
"I'd like to go back to the hospital now." Jimmy said nervously; Tobias nodded in understanding.
"Sounds like a good idea Palmer." Ron stated, if he had the choice he would have been going himself "Go on we've got this."
"You sure?"
"Yeah go on kid." Tobias agreed, before watching as Palmer turned and fled the room. Seeing a friend hurt even as an adult was bad enough, seeing that friend hurt when he was a kid and had a gun to his head was something else.
"Well we know what happened back then, so let's try and figure out why Jason Everett is singling him out now." Tobias suggested.
"Well both the defence and prosecutor's documents just arrived, along with the court's documents and their videos of the court's proceedings." Taylor informed as he put the box down on the table next to the group.
"Great, more videos." Finley muttered under his breath, but no one took any notice.
"Good let's see what else we have." Tobias suggested as he opened the box and Delilah immediately delved in and started handing out various items to the rest of the group, with the exception of Finley, who snuck out without being noticed.

"Whilst I agree with you Jethro, Timothy isn't going to be awake for several hours, your team is in the waiting room along with Sarah. A young lady, who I believe, is very much in the dark at present." Ducky pointed out.
"How'd you figure that, Duck?" Gibbs questioned, before he twigged to what his friend was referring to. "Huh, yeah I see your point; even though she isn't, he still sees her as his sister doesn't he?"
"I would say so and I do believe that was the first time Tim really stood up to you." Ducky recalled.
"Since he transferred up from Norfolk it was." Gibbs confirmed only to have to clarify further when he noticed the queried look on Ducky's face. "I got in his face in Norfolk, he didn't back down, that's what got me interested in him."
"I see, but my point…" Ducky started to hint.
"I got it, can't say I like the idea, Tim really should have a say, especially when it comes to Sarah…" Gibbs trailed off as he looked back down at Tim and sighed. "I'm not leaving, so I guess they'll have to come in here."
"I have an alternative suggestion." Ducky said, before continuing on when Gibbs raised a questioning eyebrow. "Sarah has the right to be told privately and she has yet to see her brother, as the saying goes 'two birds with one stone'. I will send her in here and deal with Tony, Ziva and Mr Palmer. Then go see if I can locate Jackson, perhaps I can give him a different perspective to think about." Ducky stated as he headed for the door.
"I appreciate that Ducky; would you do me another favour?" Gibbs questioned before continuing on. "Call Abby's stand-in, err Delilah would you, ask her if she doesn't mind bring down a couple more printouts." Gibb requested, just as Ducky got to the door.
"Ah! Yes, I am sure they will all ask to see the proof."

Jimmy arrived to find Tony and Sarah sitting in the waiting room quietly talking, neither of them really noticed his arrival, he was just about to ask after Ziva, when she came into the room with a tray full of drinks.
"Jimmy." Ziva greeted, Tony looked up and immediately noticed something was wrong. "Autopsy Gremlin, what's up?"
"Nothing, I err, just wanted to see how Tim's doing." Jimmy stumbled as he fiddle with his glasses.
"Something is wrong, yes?" Ziva stated, having seen the tell-tell signs like Tony had, as she stepped in front of him inclining her head, just as the doors to the waiting room opened.
"Ducky." Tony greeted, taking the attention away from Jimmy, who couldn't have been more thankful.
"Sarah, Jethro would like to talk to you." Ducky said; seeing Sarah immediately start to panic he was quick to reassure her. "No it's nothing for you to worry about, but it will give you a chance to see Timothy at the same time."
"Oh, okay, thanks." Sarah replied as she got up and made her way to the door, before she asked. "Oh err which room?"
"Second door on the left Sarah." Ducky replied, watching the young woman for a moment more as she left the room before turning his attention to the rest of the group. "Now I'll be back in a moment; I have a quick phone call to make and then I will tell you all what's been happening."

"So there you have it Director, Everett's reason for going after McGee." Fornell stated as he ended his report to Vance, having finished going over all the information they had.
"Any hits on the BOLO?" Vance questioned as he continued to study the information in front of him
"Not as of yet, but I should imagine he's gone to ground. We don't know if he knows he wasn't successful." Ron Sack informed the man.
"He got too close for my liking." Balboa growled softly.
"Very well, keep me informed." Vance stated, ignoring Balboa's comment even though he totally agreed with the man, the dismissal was evident to all three agents in the room; Tobias and Ron left immediately but Balboa held back wanting a moment alone with the head of the agency. "Something on your mind Agent Balboa?"
"Yes sir, permission to speak freely?" A slight incline of the head told him permission was granted "I think we may have a problem…"

"Brothers!" Tony exclaimed in complete disbelief upon hearing the news, before laughing at the very thought. "Yeah good one Ducky."
"Anthony….."Ducky started.
"It's true." Jimmy blurted out suddenly causing the other three to look at him. "I, err, err saw the proof early."
"How?!" Tony demanded.
"Well you'd all disappeared without saying anything so I landed up wondering into the Lab and well Delilah was there in a bit of a state and well…"Jimmy voice trailed off.
"Why was she in a state, Mr. Palmer?" Ducky questioned.
"She was worried about something she had told the Director and the effect it was going to have, Doctor." Jimmy replied as he squared his shoulders before he told the full story to his superior.
"I see, thank you; I will sort that out later, for now I need to know if any of you are going to have a problem with what you've been told?" Ducky questioned as he looked at each of the three in turn.

"Sarah?" Gibbs questioned as he looked at the young woman in front of him
"I don't, wow, I mean….Really?" Sarah asked as she looked back and forth between Gibbs and the person she had always thought of as her brother.
"Yes, Sarah, we have the proof." Gibbs informed, making a move to get the paper out of his pocket before he remembered. "Well not here at present."
Gibbs had made sure he took his time in telling Sarah, making sure he got her to tell him what she had already been made aware of so he didn't waste time going over what she already knew.
"Oh god it all makes sense now." Sarah stated.
"What makes sense Sarah?"
"Why dad was like he was with Tim, I mean it was never really rational to me before, but I don't understand why Uncle Patrick took on a kid that wasn't his and how does your father figure into all this?" Sarah questioned.
"That is something we have yet to figure out" Gibbs replied, the tone in his voice telling Sarah that the older man really wanted the answer to that question as well.
