Soon after their little game ended, the sky grew dark, and Danny had to find a place for everyone to rest.
He had to rush ahead and cut an opening in a patch of ecto-brush so everyone could rest. He ran back and carried the now exhausted Danielle the rest of the way to the clearing.
The rush of adrenaline had left her beat. She rested happily in his arms, regardless. Smiling, I brushed back her bangs and kissed her forehead. Danny's eyes widened as my forehead brushed his cheek.
He grabbed my head gently and brought it closer again. He kissed my forehead for a moment, and then furrowed his eyebrows. "Sam, you feel a little warm."
"Really?" I asked, and felt my own forehead for a moment.
"It's that & €^ tank top," Danny blamed, he gestured and Tucker gladly took Danielle back from him. He lifted his backpack off of his shoulders, and retrieved his lucky sweater. It was long enough to reach my knees, when he slid it over my arms. I smiled for a moment, snuggling into the black material. It smells like Danny, I thought. "Better?" Said halfa asked,
"warmer, for sure." I smirked and he grabbed Dani back from Tucker. I couldn't help the warm smile that creeped to my face as I watched him hold her little a little baby. We finally made our way back up to where Dany had prepared our camp. The other students and chaperons weren't that far behind.
We all settled in and I set out some food on a blanket for whoever was hungry when they got comfortable. after eating an apple and drinking some water, I leaned back against a thick tree with Danny (with Dani sitting in his lap) to my right and Tucker on the other side of them.
"Still on for tonight?" I whispered. Danny nodded and Danielle reached out for me. I smiled and placed her in my own lap. She didn't talk much, like Danny when he was her mental age (which I honestly estimated was around 6), but was equally as affectionate as he was then, too.
Danny smiled at us, and I felt her breathing even. "I saw the violet growing around her irises today," Danny said when she fell asleep. "She's gonna have light blue-violet eyes," I smirked at him, "-at least in Fenton form."
I sighed wistfully a small smile on my face, "I love it that this little girl, that I call mine, has the last name Fenton."
"I want any little girl or guy you call yours to have the last name Fenton," He teased, the gestured to himself, "Including this one." I smiled and rocker her lightly. She was just small enough that she wasn't awkward to hold.
Soon everyone fell asleep in their little groups. Tucker held Dani and we made our leave.
As soon as we were about a half-mile from he campsite, Fenton became Phantom. He always stood taller in this form, never slouched unless exhausted. He scanned the area, but I don't know why- we were in the open there were millions of escape routes. Smirking he put his arm around my waist and pulled me in for a kiss.
I kissed back and pulled the shirt-half up over his arms. He shivered against my touch and I couldn't tell if he was cold, laughing, or just feeling energized by the close contact with the ecto-induced atmosphere.
pulling back, I waved his shirt in front of him. He raised his brow am me, and I ran off. He rushed after me, and I waved the shirt in front of him like a matador.
smirking he ran toward me, and I lifted the shirt and ran a few more feet to the left. He lowered his brow and his eyes glowed brighter for a moment. He ran toward me, and I lifted the shirt again.
He ran straight past me.
BAHB!
His face was smashed against an invisible dome-like thing. His arms stretched and stiff. He fell onto his back, an expression of pain as the impact echoed through the night.
i rushed to him, checking for injuries. His nose looked bruised, but would heal Pretty quickly. I smiled and tried to hold back a few chuckles.
"...ow..." He sat up and rubbed his nose. We both laughed lightly, then grew curious of the dome.
"stupid tax-collectors as if my money isn't enough, gotta take my sleep t-" a simple looking ghost appeared.
He was clad in a white bath rope. His skin was a pale teal, and his eyes a kind magenta with shinning black irises. His face was angular and had an old look to it. Hair was jostled and grey.
"Danny!" He called pressing buttons on an invisible press pad. The shield dissipated, and the ghost ran out to hug Danny.
"Quandary!" Danny exclaimed, hugging back. They pulled back and he looked to me.
"and Sam, how are you?" He forced me into a hug, which I returned with less enthusiasm. He stepped back again and looked at the two of us; covered in sweat from running, Danny without a shirt, and by ourselves.
"Were my shield and I interrupting something?" He asked, smug as could be. Both of our faces heated up.
"No! Not at all, Quandary! We weren't doing anything like that." He smirked at us and our blushes.
"Why else would you be here in the zone without Tucker?"
"Tucker's here. Just not right here. He's back at our camp with everyone else."
"Everyone else?" Quandary asked, a sense of urgency in his voice. We nodded ," You two brought other humans here? Are you MAD?!"
"We'd didn't bring them here," Danny replied, his voice steady, "We were on a trip and landed in here on accident."
"How many, besides Sam and Tucker?" Quand asked, looking around warily.
"thirteen," I supplied. Danny's arm went around me.
"ugh... it's not safe for you all to be out without a shield... Go get 'em, and they can stay here. But you know my policies- they can stay the night, but in the morning, you know..." Quandary, being the ghost of riddles had a certain policy that stated no ghost, halfa, or human could stay in his lair without solving a few riddles.
Cheesy, but it was easy if you were his friend.
"Tuck, Ammy, and I'll handle it," Danny promised, and I smirked. Ammy was his nickname for me. Believe it or not, it's not supposed to be "Sammy minus the 'S'," Which would be kinda funny if you got the joke. No. It was short for amethyst. Since we started dating, he was allowed to call me Sammy, since it sounded cute when he said it. But he preferred the name he came up with more, and so did I.
We nodded to Quandary in recognition, and went back to get everyone.
"Guess we can never catch a break, huh?" He asked a smirk on his face, but only I could feel the actual disappointment in his words.
"When we get back home, you and I can take a weekend to ourselves. Leave Dani with Tucker and Jazz."
"I'd like that."
"Tucker, get up," I whispered, shaking him awake.
"Whah?" He asked stumbling blindly with his words.
"I said it's time to get up."
"Why?" he challenged. I knew he was tired, but I thought he'd understand that I wouldn't wake him up for no reason.
"Quandary's offered us all a chance to stay the night. And it's dangerous out here, regardless of Danny's strength. So give me my daughter, and let's high-tail it outta here!" He handed me Dani and stood up. Danny had already awoken the chaperons, who were helping him wake up the students.
Finally, thought not bright-eyed and bushy tailed, everyone was awake. Danny smirked- leading this mass of zombies would be easy.
We took everyone ahead to Quandary's lair. This was the third night in the ghost zone, which meant it would be Sunday at midnight.
That thought makes me smile. Three days with them all in MY world. Well, the world I feel most comfortable in.
We finally reached Quandary's lair, which he quickly let us into. "Thanks again. This means the world, Quand'."
"Not a problem, Danny." He looked to either side of himself. "Have they been asking about Phantom?" He asked Danny. That was an good question, I hadn't even thought much of it. I couldn't hear the students from up where we usually lead. But Danny and Dani probably could.
"Yeah. Hushed whispers aren't too hard to hear when you're me," Danny joked as the shield closed down around us.
Suddenly, I didn't feel very well. My face felt warm, really warm. It was black and fuzzy around the edges of my vision. I put out my arms in hope to stop the dizzy feeling. Danny seemed to notice, he handed Danielle quickly to Quandary, and held me up, instead. "Sam?" I wrapped my arms instinctively over his shoulders. I felt something on my forehead and heard Danny gasp, "She's burning up."
I felt his arms slip under mine. He knelt down and laid me on the ground. He brushed back my bangs, and I realized how sweaty my forehead was. I felt something against my forehead again - I realized it was his lips that brushed my brow. He held my hand as Tucker came closer.
The black fuzz surrounding my vision didn't block out my friends and loved ones who hovered cautiously over me: Tuck, Dani, Quandary, and Danny.
But where were my parents?
Maybe it seems childish, especially since I always disagreed with them, but I always wanted to at least see my dad and mom when I was sick. To be honest, I love seeing my grandma more than anything when I don't feel well. She loved Danny, Tuck, and Dani; even after figuring out our secret a few months ago.
A felt a freezing hand -Quandary's- touch my forehead. He let out a chuckle and explained something to Danny and Tucker, who sighed in relief. Dani held my hand and smiled at me.
God, she had her Daddy's smile.
That lopsided, adorable grin.
Danny knelt down next to me, "Dani, don't torture your momma with my smile, like that." Dani rolled her eyes at the pair of us, and Danny chuckled. He propped me up, and held something to my mouth. I could smell that it was something sweet, so I took a bite.
I smiled, Danny had just offered me a piece of cake, white cake. I prayed that this wouldn't be the last time that happened in our relationship. My mind started to clear, and I heard Tucker dig around in my back-pack. He handed Danny my pill container that read, "I just don't have time for the nervous breakdown that I deserve" (A gag gift from Tucker last year), and a bottle of water.
Shouldn't my parents be at least a little bit worried?
Danny put the capsule in my mouth, and gave me a sip of water. I swallowed it easily, and he smiled at me.
"You need to start taking your supplements on a regular basis," he reprimanded. "You didn't eat anything for dinner, and it certainly didn't help."
"Guess I'm not as used to the 'starving' thing as you seem to be," I replied. Danny rolled his eyes, and offered me the rest of the cake.
"Where'd you get this?" I asked, after finishing.
"A delicacy I snatched on my latest visit to the human world," Quandary supplied.
"Stealing is wrong, Quand. We've been over this," Danny scolded in monotone. I couldn't help but laugh a little. My head finally cleared, and I felt remarkably better. Danny kissed my forehead, and I leaned into him. "You're still a little warm. But I can tell you're feeling better."
I nodded and drifted off against his shoulder. He kissed my forehead and sat me on his lap. Tucker snickered and leaned against Danny's shoulder to sleep. I opened my eyes one last time and looked around. My parents were arguing with the Fentons about who would sleep where. "Isn't it so stupid, angel?" Danny whispered against me ear. Danielle fell asleep in the space between Danny and Tucker. "I'm sorry..." I snuggled against him and tried to fall asleep. "I love you, Ammy."
I'd feel better in the morning.

Oh! Almost forgot, your trivia: Often when searching for ghosts, ghost-hunters will find what's called an orb. A glowing sphere of light.
Besides actually being of ghostly creation, what is the number one cause of orbs?
