The next morning George was in the kitchen making breakfast. He heard his bedroom door open and looked to see her coming out of his room with his shirt from the night before on. She smiled at him, "Hope you don't mind, it was the first thing I grabbed."
"I think it looks very good." He smiled back as she came up next to him, him giving her a quick kiss before going back to the eggs.
"Did you make all of this?" She asked looking at the toast, bacon, eggs, sausage, and fruit laid out on the counter.
"Yes."
"Without magic?" She looked up at him.
"Mhhm." He smirked, "No wand or anything."
"Wow." She nodded in approval. He handed her a glass of juice and she took it from him taking a sip. As the cup was at her lips she saw the ring on her finger and chocked on the juice, "What is this?!"
He laughed at her, "You know, I thought a lot about how to do it, but I couldn't think of anything worthy of us. Plus I wasn't sure who to get permission from, my parents, Remus, the Primal council, so instead I just sort of did it."
She looked at the ring and her eyes went from it to his, "You mean you want to marry me?"
"Are you shocked?" He laughed again, "I told you two years ago I couldn't imagine life without you."
"George." Her voice was soft as she wrapped her arms around his waist.
He kissed the top of her head hugging her back, "We don't have to do it anytime soon, we can wait until the war is over…I just wanted it to be official before you left so every bloke out there would know to keep their hands off of you."
"Then I need to get you something too so that no one looks at you either." She smiled.
"Barely anyone looks at me, and out of them you're the only one that matters." He laughed.
She removed her arms and looked at the ring again, her voice sad with some worry, "You know that if we have children they'll-"
"Be just as brilliant and amazing as you." He took her hand, "Hopefully with a little bit of my troublemaking qualities."
Her face softened into a smile, "I'm sure with you and Fred around they will."
He laughed giving her a kiss before shooing her, "Go on sit down, it's almost ready."
"Alright." She smiled beginning to walk away towards the table before looking back at him by the stove, "I could get used to that sight."
"You better." He smirked at her.
Molly was blustering around the house cleaning and getting ready for Bill and Fleur to arrive and Bridget was just trying to stay out of her way since the woman insisted on doing everything herself. Every time Molly would say she was done, she would start working on something else. After a few hours of the woman stopping then starting again Bridget put her arm around the woman's shoulder, "Mrs. Weasley, you've never cleaned like this for anyone else, why now? It's just Bill and Fleur."
"Yes but its Fleur." Molly looked at her nervous, "I don't want to present us as slobs."
"This is the cleanest I think I've ever seen the house." Bridget smiled at her, "Fleur will love how cozy it is. You said she loves Bill despite what happened with that bastard, so I don't think she's going to care about any of this. She's not as high class as you may think."
"Really?" Molly asked.
"Yes, we didn't get to spend much time together during the tournament, but she was a nice sweet girl and I'm sure she still is and will love her soon to be in-laws and their home as much as she does him." Bridget reassured her, "Now sit down and relax so you aren't flustered and red faced when they get here."
Molly forced a smile hearing the girl, "Yes, I'm sure your right."
Half an hour later there was a knock at the door and Molly shot up and went to open it, hugging her son tightly with a smile and laugh. Bridget came down from upstairs hearing this, along with Ginny and Ron. Bill came and hugged his siblings and she and Fleur shared a short hug greeting each other after such a long time. The oldest Weasley sibling came up to her with a smile, "My word, are you little Bridget?"
"I guess so." She gave a small smile, she had never really met Bill, she was a toddler when her parents would spend time with the Weasleys and by the time she came to live at the Burrow he was working in Egypt. A large smile grew on his face as he wrapped his arms around her as if she was one of his siblings.
"You have grown up." He pulled away and smiled down at her, "And I hear you and Georgie make quite the pair. How is your brother? It's been ages since I've seen John."
"I…I don't know, he left when he was fifteen." She smiled back up at him, hiding the sadness, "I haven't seen him since, but no news is good news."
"That it is." Bill clasped her shoulder, "Well it's good to have you back and a part of the family, couldn't have asked for a better addition."
"Thanks." She laughed, slightly embarrassed.
Fleur reproached her, "George, is one of the twins correct?"
"Yes." Bridget answered with a smile.
"It seems we both have good tastes." The girl smiled back at her.
Mr. Weasley came into the house greeting his son and soon to be daughter-in-law turned to the door, "Look who I found on the way inside."
George and Fred came in behind him and Bill laughed hugging the twins. Fred looked at the side of his face, "Bloody Hell Bill, don't you look like a dangerous man now?"
"Yeah, it's probably how he got himself a fiancée." George joked.
"Then what's your excuse?" Bill asked with a laugh.
"I've always been devilishly handsome." George responded then looked to Bridget, "Isn't that right, love?"
"If that's what you want to call it, sure." She smirked and Fred barked out a laugh at his twins expense, she smiled walking up to George, "Fred do you forget that you're identical?"
He stopped laughing and everyone else did instead as George put his arm around her, "Thanks for keeping me humble."
"I'm always here for you." She smiled up at him sweetly and he fake begrudgingly gave her a kiss on the forehead before Molly called them to dinner.
The family joked and laughed throughout dinner, catching Bill and Fleur up on things they had missed. Once they were finished eating George looked to Bridget, "All right then Bridg, let's go."
"To where?" She asked watching him stand up.
"We said we'd have you be able to out fly anyone on a broom by the time we move Harry so let's go." He headed over to the closet grabbing his broom.
Fred stood up, "I'm in."
"Sounds like fun." Ginny added standing as well.
Bridget looked around confused at this and stood up slowly looking between Molly and them as Ron also stood, "Haven't been on a broom in about a month so why not."
Molly smiled waving her off and she told them she needed to change her shirt first. Once outside, and she was in a racerback shirt they looked at her for directions. She rubbed the back of her neck, "I don't know I guess you all chase me around and if any of you get a hand on me I lose?"
"Sounds good." George smiled.
"And don't go easy on it, Death Eaters won't." Bill said coming outside to watch with the rest of them having finished cleaning up, "Don't mind if we watch do you?"
"Guess not." Bridget shrugged. She pulled her wings from her back and those helping mounted their brooms. Taking off into the air it wasn't long before the others were all around her, chasing her, reaching out to grab her. She used everything she had learned from her practices with Remus, Tonks, and MacRose to try and avoid them but it was hard, and they weren't even using their wands to try and attack her. They had been at it for about an hour, her having been caught once by George surprising her, and another by Ginny and Fred teaming up to get her legs. Looking behind her she saw George and Fred were both hot on her trail and closing in. She narrowed her body and tried to shoot forward but Ginny cut her off, the girl reaching out trying to get her arm but grabbing her wing instead.
Bridget yelled out a screech in pain as she fell to the ground, rolling as she hit the ground. Molly ran up to her, "Bridget my dear, are you alright."
Ginny landed on the ground and came running up to her, "I'm so sorry! I was going for your arm!"
"I know. It's okay Ginny, Death Eaters might do the same or worse." Bridget winced in pain, "You pulled out some feathers though and that hurt like a son of a bitch."
George came up to her, taking her into his arms, "Will you be all right?"
"Should be." She sat up, gently pulling her wing to try and look at it. There were a few feathers missing from a spot near the edge, but it wasn't bleeding or damaged. With Georges help she stood up, stretching her back causing her wings to flex. She flapped them once, "The pains going away, we should be good to go again."
"Bridget." Molly said concerned.
"I'm fine Mrs. Weasley, really." Bridget smiled at her, "It's good practice. I need to be able to do this."
"Alright, but have some water first, they're on brooms, you're using a part of your body." Molly took her hand, "You mother had said once that it does begin to get tiring."
"Okay, I could go for some water." Bridget smiled, giving in to the woman.
Ginny came up to her, "I am sorry, I guess I'm too used to Quidditch."
"Really it's alright." Bridget put a hand on her shoulder, "You were committed to catching me as any of those bastards will be, if any of them get my feathers it won't knock me down because it won't be as shocking now. Was a decent sting though for a few little feathers. Definitely look at Quidditch as a career option though."
They watched as she stretched again, this time her wings, extending them all the way out, the width more than her height. Molly came back with her water and she drank it, somewhat slowly to appease the woman but once she was done they were back in the air again.
As the night went on they adapted to her strategies and she had to change it. Once it was dark and they were all tired they went inside, Ginny and Ron heading to their rooms, Fred spending time with his father and Bill. Bridget was sitting in the living room rubbing her shoulders when George came in with a snack. He saw her on the on the ground, leaning up against the couch trying to stretch and he moved her forward downing the rest of his biscuit, sitting between her and the couch. Putting his legs on either side of her he began massaging her shoulders. She let out a moan of relief and he laughed, "Are you sore?"
"Yes. Your mum was right about it being like a work out." Her head tilted back in pleasure, "I've also never flown that long or that hard before."
"At least you know you can though." He used his thumb to get in between her shoulder blade, her back arching to his hand.
"Mmm. I could have gone for longer but it was getting hard for you all to see." She muttered, "Which is a good thing because we're moving Harry at night."
"If we practice like that every couple of nights and then let you rest for a few in a row you'll have no issue out flying any death eater. Few of them probably even played Quidditch."
She let out a small laugh, "I'm not sure who you're trying to convince of my abilities, me or you."
"Would it be bad if I said both?" He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her back into his chest. He kissed her on the neck, "I just want you to be ready. We'll both still worry about each other but it'll help if we both know what we're doing."
"Yeah I know." Bridget cozied up to his chest, "I'll work hard to make sure they don't get anywhere near me. Having the help of half of the Gryffindor Quidditch team will definitely make me improve fast."
"Yes. It will." He leaned over giving her a kiss.
"Now how about finishing that massage?" She smirked.
"You could come back to my place and we could finish it there." He whispered in her ear.
Shivers went down her spine and she smiled, "Alright but let's wait until Fred is also ready to leave so you mum doesn't think the worst."
"Come on now, I'm better than the worst." He joked.
"Oh you're much better, good enough to light up the room." She smiled kissing him again, holding him there for a moment, "I'm really going to miss you."
"Promise if it's a long time you'll at least come visit, let me see you're alright?" He whispered on her lips.
"I'll do whatever I can to make sure you know." She answered, "I promise. Promise me you'll stay safe and as out of harm's way as possible when I'm not around."
"I'll do my best." He squeezed her, "I'm going to keep working for the Order but I'll do everything I can to stay alive, I don't want my time with you cut short."
"Good because I couldn't have another bondmate after one like you." She rested her forehead to his chin. Bridget knew what she had just insinuated but it was true, she wouldn't want to live without George.
George was at the shop so Remus was the one flying with her today and she had gotten so good he was shooting non-harming spells at her to help her figure out how to avoid them. They were taking their first break and she noticed how quiet he was being, how distant he was and while sitting next to him she have him a slight shove, "What's on your mind."
"Nothing." He faked a smile at her.
"Liar." She slightly smirked.
"That noticeable is it?" He sighed.
"To someone who knows you as well I do, yes." Her smile turned sad, before she moved her whole body to face him, "Come on, lay it on me. What has you frowning more than normal?"
He sighed again and after a long pause spoke, "Dora's pregnant."
"Really?" Bridget smiled then wrapped her arms around him, "Congratulations!" When he only responded with an ashamed smile she pulled away, "You aren't excited?"
"I should never have married her. I've made her an outcast already! Can't you see what I've done to her and now my unborn child?" He turned to her, concern, fear, and shame in his eyes, "My kind don't normally breed. It will be like me, I am convinced of it! How can I forgive myself when I knowingly risked passing on my own condition to an innocent child?! No child should have a life like that forced on it!"
Bridget paused and her shoulders fell a little, but she kept her smile, albeit forced, "So what your saying is you don't want your child to be like you?...like me?"
His eyes grew wide and he shook his head, "No, no, Bridget, no that's not what I meant at all!"
"Yes it is." She made the forced smile grow wider, "After all that's why we're so close isn't it? Because we're one in the same? A Werewolf and a Primal? You being forced to live this life after you survived your attack, me being born into it and never knowing until it almost killed me. To know that you would have a child with that same kind of life doesn't seem right, but despite all of that Tonks is still carrying your baby, still loves you more than anything, doesn't care about her reputation. She never cared about that anyways, her mum having done the same thing, following her heart instead of what was supposedly best for her. Plus you don't even know if your child will have the same condition as you, I know for certain mine will."
"Bridget." He had tears in his eyes, "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it like that at all. I love you like you're my own, and would never be ashamed of you or of my child. But it would be better off without a father like me, one who has this condition, one that's ashamed of passing it on, one that was ashamed of having a child out of fear."
His head fell and she put a hand on her shoulder, "I don't think it would. I wouldn't trade you for the world, even if I got my father back I would still want you in my life. Remus you're so much more than you give yourself credit for. And your child will love you just as much as I do, just as much as Tonks does. I can't give you a hard time about being afraid of it happening, but don't be ashamed of it if it does. Hell I was even ashamed and scared when George and I began talking about a life together, because our children will be like me, and he didn't care because he loves me for everything that I am, and so does Tonks when it comes to you. Remus, you're going to be a father, there has to be some excitement in you and not just fear."
He pulled her into a hug holding her tight, "I am excited under all the stress and worry, but I've never been this important someone before or had someone who's going to depend on me like this baby will."
"Liar, you've always been important to me and when I lost Cedric I depended on you more than anyone." She held him tight.
"Will you…" He pulled away to look at her, "Will you be their godmother? Harry too as the godfather. This way when as they grow up they can have an example of what it's like to be from a different kind of family and have more examples than just me and Dora to go off of. And if they are born like me, will you help to teach them how to live with it better than I did? Because I'm not sure if I'll be able to do that."
"Of course Remus, I'll help take care of little Lupin and help you teach them to be who they are, because you are good at it." She smiled, "I actually had a question of my own when it comes to family."
"With the peace of mind you just gave me, ask away." He released her and she looked nervous.
"I'm sure you've heard about George and I getting engaged." She looked down at her ring.
"I have and congratulations." He smiled at her.
"I was wondering since my father is dead and you've become the closest thing I have to one, would you be the one to give me away at the wedding whenever we have it?" She was nervous as she peeked up at him.
He wrapped his arms around her with a smile and laugh, "Of course I would be honored. Just make sure to not have the wedding on a full moon."
"Well that's no fun is it?" She laughed.
"Now that I'm in a much better mood, I'll fly better, so let's get you back into the air so that your fiancé doesn't get distracted if there's a battle." He patted her on the back.
"You still won't be able to catch me old man." She stood bringing out her wings again.
Hermione had just erased every memory of her in her parents and headed for the front door. When she left the house she was surprised to see Bridget standing in her driveway, "Bridget, what are you doing here?"
"I didn't want to wait to make sure you were alright, after what you just had to do." Bridget put and arm around her as they began walking.
"It was safer for them this way." Her friend's voice was low, sad, "Muggle families have been being killed."
"I know." Bridget held her tight, "Doesn't make it any easier."
"It doesn't…"
"When it's over. When it's safe for them again, we'll find them and we'll reverse the spell." She looked at Hermione, "Then you'll be together again."
"Yeah, but we should focus on the task at hand right now, I know they'll be safe and I shouldn't worry about them." Hermione tried to focus herself.
"But you still will and that's what makes you Hermione Granger." Bridget smiled, "And you should have said 'tasks' after all we have to move Harry, then find three horcruxes, and figure out how to destroy them."
"That last parts going to be the hardest one." Hermione sighed then looked to the other girl, "Want to get some coffee before we go to the Burrow? Muggle coffee? The sweet stuff?"
Bridget laughed, "I'm in. But I don't have any Muggle money."
"I have some." Hermione pulled out her wallet, "Won't be of much use after today for a while so might as well spend it now."
"Well then, let's get some. What was it I had last time, a cupochino?" Bridget asked.
Hermione laughed at her horrible pronunciation, "Cappuccino."
"But cup makes so much more sense. It's in a cup not a cap." Bridget wondered and Hermione laughed even more. She smiled at making her friend laugh, knowing she needed it after what she had just done, "Either way, a capuccino would be very nice right now."
