She fought and blasted her way through Death Eaters as she went, getting help from Primals and Order members. Landing on the ground quickly she slid up next to Harry as he stood in front of the doorway, "Got here as quick as I could."
"Good, I'm going to need as much help as I can get in here and you can get an aerial view." He said as he opened the door and they both went in. Bridget was searching the tops of stacks while Harry weaved through the rows below her.
"Did you get any idea what this diadem tiara thing looks like?" She called down to him.
"No idea." He yelled back up to her. She continued to look for something small and she assumed shiny until he called for her, "I think I found it."
Bridget heard him and circled back to Harry, landing next to him, her wings narrowing to her body so she didn't hit them on anything. They looked into the wooden box that contained a tiara that was a silver, bird shaped design, and had a blue sapphire in the shape of an oval in the center. Harry reached his hand out towards it but was interrupted.
"Well, well, what brings you two here?" Draco asks and they both turn to look at him, Bridgets wings twitching out from her frame reading to take off if needed.
"She's a filthy Half-Breed!" Blaise spit out, "In Hogwarts!"
Draco ignored his companion's realization and keeps his eyes and wand trained on them, "You have something of mine, I'd like it back."
"Well what's wrong with the one you've got?" Harry asked.
"It's my mothers. It's powerful, but it's not the same. It doesn't quite understand me." Draco answered, "You know what I mean?"
"Why didn't you tell her? Bellatrix? You knew it was me. You didn't say anything." Harry asked another question, one Bridget thought she knew the answer too but didn't want to put the boy in danger.
Goyle whispered something into Draco's ear and before Draco could do anything Hermione came from behind Bridget and Harry, disarming him. Goyle came back at her with the killing curse and she avoided it. Ron went running after him yelling about Hermione being his girlfriend. Bridget looked to her, "Girlfriend, huh?"
Hermione just shrugged her shoulders and they smiled at each other before realizing Harry was climbing up a pile to try and retrieve the horcrux that had gone flying. Bridget took to the air attempting to look for it but wasn't getting a good vantage point until Harry pulled a couch to the side, "I see it!"
Harry held his position and Bridget flew down, reaching her arm all the way in, grabbing the diadem. She pulled it out and handed it to Harry. He smiled at her, "Good eye."
"Chameleons and Phoenix's both have them." She said as they all went back to the ground. They heard Ron yelling from a distance and soon he was running up to them.
"Goyle set the bloody place on fire!" He yelled grabbing Hermiones hand as they started running away.
Harry and Bridget looked back to where he had come from and a giant flame in the shape of a snake came barreling towards them. She pushed the fire creature back and Harry followed Ron and Hermione as she took off, using her vantage point to help lead them out. The fire was consuming every direction and her friends on the ground were getting cut off, she was even having to move the fire out of her way as they went.
Soon every direction was cut off and her friends were surrounded. Bridget landed with a thud using everything she could to hold the fire off. Hermione yelled at her, "Can you carry us out?"
"I don't know, I've only ever tried it once and that was a short time frame! Plus with the way this fire is moving I don't know how safe a long train of us would be." She answered back through a grunt as she pushed the fire back. This was strange fire, it didn't respond like the other flames she had dealt with. It must be fire created with dark magic.
"Behind you!" Harry yelled to Hermione and Ron and there were brooms laying behind them. He looked to Bridget, "Can you hold it?"
"Long enough for you all to get airborne yeah." She said despite the sweat forming on her forehead, "I'll even give you a take-off zone."
Harry, Ron, and Hermione mounted the brooms and as they took off Bridget let out a yell moving her hands in front of her and making a pushing motion that caused the fire to blow back away from them as they too off. She flapped her wings the second after and joined them keeping speed with Harry. They flew towards the exit and saw Draco and Blaise standing on top of a large pile. She looked to Harry then looked back to them, seeing the space they were standing on crumble causing them both to fall.
Bridget didn't even look back, turning to head straight for the two boys. As she got close she yelled out, "Draco! Your hand!"
Draco looked up and saw her coming towards him and reached up as she passed over, her taloned hand catching his sleeve pulling him off of the table he was hanging off of. She pulled him up so they had a better grip on each other, "Grab on to the armor."
He did as she said, his hands holding onto the back of the armor but away from her wings, "What about Blaise?"
"Don't worry." She said as she had already been making the wide turn that was needed for the extra weight. As she made it back around she saw Harry already had the other Slytherin on his broom.
"We've got to go!" Harry yelled and she nodded, narrowing her wings to go faster.
Dracos grip around her grew as she gained speed, not used to flying this way and her arm was just wrapped gently around his shoulders, knowing he wouldn't fall. She avoided falling debris and flames as they went, Hermione leading the way and as they made it to the door Hermione moved the fire out of the way with her wand. The six of them passed through, Draco and Bridget falling and rolling onto the ground as they got hit with the backlash of a lick of fire. He looked over at her and quickly said, "Thanks."
"I owed you one." She muttered back before motioning for him to go with Blaise. He gave her an almost unnoticeable smile but she knew it was one of understanding and thanks.
She turned back and saw Harry get knocked back after hitting the diadem with the basilisk fang. Ron kicked it into the room of requirement and the flames took on the shape of Voldemort flying towards them but the room knew what they needed. The doors shut right before the fire left its confines. Harry leaned against a wall curled up and she came up next to him, "Harry, Harry are you alright? What's he doing?"
"It's the snake." Harry looked at her then to Ron and Hermione, "She's the last one. The last horcrux."
Ron knelt down next to her, "Look inside him Harry. Find out where he is. If we find him we can find the snake and we can end this."
Harry nodded then closed his eyes. He felt someone's hand in his and heard her voice, "I'm here Harry, we're all here. You can do this."
After a moment or so Harry opened his eyes and through heavy breaths said, "He's at the boat house."
"Bridget can you fly us there?" Ron asked.
Bridget hesitated for a moment and Harry answered for her, "You can't can you?"
"That took a lot out of you didn't it? Handling that fire? That's why you fell at the end isn't it?" Hermione looked at her friend whose hair was sticking to the sides of her face from sweat.
"Yeah," Bridget nodded, "I don't even know that my wings would carry me at the moment."
"That's fine, we can make there without flying." Harry squeezed her hand. Bridget smiled at him helping him stand. He could tell she was worried, he just hoped she would get her energy back soon, but what she was really worried about what the energy she had borrowed from George and how it may have affected him if he felt it.
As they ran through the school they fought anyone that got in their way and helped who they could. She kept her wings out because it meant she was protected from spells and so Bridget took the lead. They avoided giants and acromantulas and when they saw Greyback biting into a dead Lavender Brown, Hermione shot him back before anyone could do anything. Bridgets chest was tight and her stomach dropped every second she saw the devastation happing to the place and people she loved, the place she felt at home, the place and people that had been a steady constant for her in the crazy thing that had become her life. They made it to the main gates and Dementors were coming at them from the viaduct but a pulsing patronus came from behind them from Aberforth, who had come to join the fight. They crossed the bridge and made their way down to the boat house, hiding outside of it as they could hear Snape and Voldemort inside.
They heard them talk about the Elder wand and how Snape was the one who killed Dumbledore so Voldemort couldn't be the true owner of it so he injured him in some way that caused him to slam back against the wall she and Harry were hiding behind. She covered her mouth to keep from gasping and then when she heard Voldemort tell his snake to kill she closed her eyes tight, holding in every noise that she could as Nagini hits caused Snape to hit the wall again and again and again. Once the sound of Voldemort disapparating ended she was on her feet along with Harry.
Bridget froze at the sight of their professor on the ground, blood staining his collar. Harry rushed to him and put pressure on his wound. Bridget remembered and went to his side, her eyes starting to water. Harry looked at her, "Can you do something?"
"I can try." Her voice cracked and a tear fell out but Snape put his hand on her shoulder.
"You don't have enough." He looked to her and a tear came out of his own eye as he turned back to Harry while motioning to it, "Take them. Take them. Please."
Harry got a vial from Hermione and Snape told him to take them to the pensieve before looking at her friend right in the eyes, "You have your mother's eyes."
And with that statement Snape exhaled his last breath.
The moment of sorrow didn't last long as pain struck them when Voldemorts voice entered their heads again:
You have fought valiantly... but in vain. I do not wish this. Every drop of magical blood spilled is a terrible waste. I therefore command my forces to retreat. In their absence, dispose of your dead with dignity. Treat your injured. Harry Potter, I speak now directly to you. On this night you have allowed your friends to die for you rather than face me yourself. There is no greater dishonor. Join me in the Forbidden Forest and confront your fate. Should you do so I give my word that no other life will be lost on this night. You have one hour. If, at the end of that time, you have not given yourself up, then I shall punish every last man, woman and child who tries to conceal you from me. Bridget Faltey, you too should come with him as the same applies to you and your bondmate. If you do not come, I will find you both and torture him in worse ways than you can imagine.
Harry and Bridget look at each other, both unsure of what to do at the end of the hour.
