So, thank you guys for the reviews! This is the most popular story I've ever done and I'm sorry for getting away from what I love most about - the community of us. For the most part, everyone on this site is incredibly kind and respectful, and whenever flames come an author's way, I know it's only because of a different interpretation of the characters or a disdain for the twists of the plot due to the characters' traits. Which, in short, means everyone here cares a lot about the characters they've fallen in love with. Every one of you values each story you've read because you know that the author's purpose is as pure as your reasoning for clicking on it. So, thank you for that.

*{Sam's POV}*

The Far Frozen is one of the most beautiful, yet least lively areas of the Ghost Zone. I'd made this conclusion on Team Phantom's (Jazz has a way of making things grow on you... like a dark room with mold,) first visit here.

But now that I was here again, with a far different reason for being here, I couldn't help but agree with it again. Least lively, for sure.

The huge herd of humans that were staying here were causing the palace to melt in odd places from time to time. Humans are alive, and they.. er, we produce a lot of heat. Ghosts don't really have that problem - same with halfas. I noticed this while walking down one of the corridors and trying to find where Danielle had run off to. It had been a week since we arrived, and Danny still hadn't woken up yet. Dani had been reassured multiple times by Tucker and I that her father would be okay. And her childish trust kept her from becoming distraught most of the time. She, of course, still got a bit teary when I was tucking her in at night. Tucker was obviously upset about it, but he hid it fairly well until the two of us were alone. When the pair of us were alone, which was typically around midnight to two in the morning, he'd cry as I held him and reassured him of Danny's strength. He was very prideful, so he stayed private about it, which I understand completely.

It had become a bit of a pattern for me, in the past week. Wake up, spew that Danny was A-O.K. to everyone, visit Frostbite to learn he wasn't, spew it again to Dani, then to Tucker, go to sleep, repeat.

I was snapped out of my thoughts by Snow Fort pacing the hall. "Hey, Snowy? Where's Danielle?" I asked him.

"She went out hunting with my cousins," he said. I gave him a look, questioning his decision to let my daughter go out hunting without him or his father. "I would've gone with her, I swear. Dad just needed me to play prince for a couple hours today. I'll be the one to bring her home, I swear."

"Thank you," I said. ".. Play prince? What for?" I asked him.

"The observants are visiting Dad today," he grumbled, and I knew we felt the same was about the Zone's past leaders. Cowards.

"Don't let them get anywhere close to Danny, okay?" I said, checking over my shoulder for people, "I don't want them trying to take their power back while the new King's bravery is still being tested.." He gave me a curt nod, and I continued down the hall. If those observants wanted to hit my Danny while he was down - just to get the power they gave up back, they had another thing coming.

It was dinner, a few hours later, when Snow Fort walked in with Danielle and Tucker. "Hey guys," I greeted as they came into our room.

"Hey, momma," Dani said and bounced into my arms.

"Heh- yeah, hey, momma," Tucker teased, and I rolled my eyes. "Snow Fort and I set up a long distance calling connection with my PDA, Sam. You can call your grandma or Jazz if you want."

"Awesome! Are we allowing the others to use it?"

"Yeah," Snow Fort answered for him. "They're getting really restless. Those whispers are beginning to turn into shouts again. Being able to call home should distract them enough."

"I hope so," I said, numbing it over. "Well, I'll be right back then guys," I announced, putting Danielle down on the bed. "Eat up, you two." I turned my head back to Snow Fort, "Lead on, your highness."

"It works just like a cell phone," he said, leading me to the huge glass screen. "I'll let you at it," he said, leaving me to call whomever I wanted.

I guess I'll call Jazz's cell phone first.. since she always has it on her... I thought, before dialing the memorized number on the screen. It rang three times before Jazz picked up.

"Hello?"

"Jazz! It's Sam," I greeted, ecstatic to hear her voice.

"Sam! Oh my gosh, how are you? Is everything okay?"

"We got stuck in the Ghost Zone on our flight," I sighed. "Danny isn't doing too hot."

"What?" she asked. "Is he low?"

"Yeah. But we ran into Trechor. "

"Trechor? I thought he was gone already after the last time you guys fought with him."

"I guess he wanted a rematch... He's gone now, but Danny ended up with more scars to show for it."

"Gone?" she asked. And I took my time explaining the situation of Danny's new title.

"So... my little brother is the king of ghosts?"

"That'd be correct," I replied.

"Wow. Does that make me a princess? Is he like Elsa, and I'm like Anna?"

"um, I guess..? Wait, what?"

"Oh my gosh!" and then she started singing about for the first time in a long time she was going to eat chocolate and dance or something like that.

That's when I heard my gran's voice yelling at her to shut up.

"Is that gran?" I asked excitedly. "Can I talk to her?"

"Oh, yeah, sure," she said, ceasing her singing. "Ida! It's Sam!"

"Sam?" my grandma asked into the phone

"Grandma! How are you, how are things?" I asked, and delved myself into a conversation of circumstances with my favorite relative (besides, maybe Dani, of course.)

After finally realizing I had to hang up at some point, I said my goodbyes to the pair of them. I immediately after made my way to Danny's room.

"Hey," I greeted quietly, sitting beside his bed. "I hope you feel better than you look.." I muttered. "Frostbite said the fire burned some of your nerves. He doesn't know if you'll be able to heal because nerve cells don't really grow... or grow back, I guess. But I think you will. I think it'll take some time, but you will. While we're on the subject, I guess, Frostbite doesn't know if you'll be able to feel your legs when you wake up. That ghost fire stuff was really powerful, y'know. He had braces made for you, if that's the case. I hope you won't need them." I paused, staring at his thin face. "I'm sorry this happened."

I waited for a response, but I was only greeted with the odd sound of the Far Frozen's specially made heartbeat monitor.

"I miss you," I said, feeling my eyes becoming wet. I pushed the feeling aside, as it'd become common in the past few days. "I miss you a lot. So does Tucker. So does Dani. So does Jazz and Grandma and your parents and everyone. . . . People are getting restless. They're scared. They want to go home, but I know you can't right now. I don't know what to do... Maybe I should send Snow Fort to deliver them to the Fenton Portal? But that would worry your parents sick. They're mad enough about not being in the same room as you.. I hope you wake up soon. All the people here, all the hot bodies, they're starting to mess with the Ghost Zone. And the new king being down and out... Dani says she can tell that the ecto in the air seems weaker. But, at least the doctors here know how to make you change whenever they want. They know how low you get when you aren't in phantom form for very long. . . . If I can do anything for you, say the word. I'd do whatever you'd ask... I need to tuck Dani in now, I guess, the wall clock says ten. So, I'll see you again tomorrow, okay?" I kissed his forehead and made my way back to my room.

I didn't want him to die.

Dani was sitting criss-cross on her bed, with a scared look on her face. "Danielle? What's wrong?" I asked, and sat beside her.

"It's thunder-storming in the far frozen... can't you hear it?" she whispered. "It isn't supposed to rain here. It's all these people. They're destroying the Zone..." A few fearful tears streaked her cheeks, and I instantly pulled her into my lap.

"I know, sweetie, I know. We'll get them all out of here as soon as we can." I held her carefully and wiggled to the middle of the bed. I pulled the covers around us and kissed her head. A huge snap of thunder shook the palace, and I blinked hard. I hardly noticed Dani dive deeper under the covers. I shook off the fear that plagued me since I met Trechor the first time, and pulled Danielle up again. "Hey, hey," I whispered as she cried into my shoulder. "It's all okay. Storms happen, but they can't hurt you." I said.

"Electricity hurt Daddy."

"Yes, but Daddy has never been hurt by lightning."

"B-buh..." she said, before snapping her arms around me when another boom rang in our ears. By this time, my "maternal instincts", which I honestly didn't think I had, kicked in. My personal fear vanished in place of fear for my daughter's discomfort.

"It's all okay, Dani," I whispered. "It's all safe. You're safe." She whimpered and clung to me. I pet her hair down and tried to think of what to do to distract her.

"Little child, be not afraid

The rain pounds harsh against the glass

Like an unwanted stranger

There is no danger

I am here tonight," I ran my fingers through her hair and held her close.

"Little child

Be not afraid

Though thunder explodes

And lightning flash

Illuminates your tearstained face

I am here tonight

And someday you'll know

That nature is so

This same rain that draws you near me

Falls on rivers and land

And forests and sand

Makes the beautiful world that you see

In the morning," Her breathing began to even and I gave a small smile.

"Little child

Be not afraid

The storm clouds mask your beloved moon

And its candlelight beams

Still keep pleasant dreams

I am here tonight

Little child

Be not afraid

The wind makes creatures of our trees

And the branches to hands

They're not real, understand

And I am here tonight

And someday you'll know

That nature is so

This same rain that draws you near me

Falls on rivers and land

And forest and sand

Makes the beautiful world that you see

In the morning

For you know, once even I

Was a little child

And I was afraid

But a gentle someone always came

To dry all my tears

Trade sweet sleep the fears

And to give a kiss goodnight

Well, now I am grown

And these years have shown

Rain's a part of how life goes

But it's dark and it's late

So I'll hold you and wait

'til your frightened eyes do close

And I hope that you'll know

That nature is so

This same rain that draws you near me

Falls on rivers and land

And forests and sand

Makes the beautiful world that you see

In the morning

Everything's fine in the morning

The rain will be gone in the morning

But I'll still be here in the morning," I whispered and tucked my now-sleeping halfa into her warm bed. I turned to see I would be skipping Tucker and my late night talks, as he was asleep too. I gave my daughter a forehead kiss, and put away Tucker's beret for him before going into the bathroom.

I am as prideful as Tucker is, sadly, so I will not detail the origins of the water droplets that remained on the floor until morning.

I woke up at exactly 9:26.

I can only recall this because I woke up to Snow Fort slamming open the door and shouting at me to get up.

"He's awake."

Not necessarily a cliffy, I don't think. But I think I like how I did this one. I'm starting to blur between my voice and the one I have for Sam, which, obviously, isn't good. So, I apologize if this seemed a tad more formal than Sam is. I still need some practice with each of the characters. That song is called "Lullaby for a Stormy Night" by Vienna Teng. It's pretty good. I like it a lot.

Okay, yeah, I don't know what else really to say, except I know where I want the next few chapters to go, and I'm thinking they'll be fairly long. So, it may be more than a week before I can get them posted. I'll try to set some time aside each day to work on them. I hope you enjoyed- feel free to message me with any concerns, questions I need to answer in the next chapter, things I can improve on, etc. Thanks again for so much support!

ALSO I want to see who all actually reads the author's notes, so if you do, tell me in the review please.
