Chapter 23

The hospital room was now quiet after having spent hours talking things over, Tim had finally lost the fight to stay awake as Gibbs told him yet another story of his time in the marines, but the older man wasn't at all offended as he sat watching the younger man sleep. Jackson had been slipping in and out ever since Gibbs had arrived mid-morning going for tea and coffee's on a regular basis, Gibbs was convinced his father was up to something but one guarded look from his father had kept him quiet on the matter, a good amount of time had passed since Jackson had last stepped out and Gibbs was beginning to wonder if he had gotten lost.

Even though he still hadn't completely wrapped his the fact that Tim was his brother, he had accepted the evidence and was determined to help Tim get back on his own two feet, no matter the outcome of the investigation into the Admiral and Jim Ward. Gibbs was pretty confident that they would be successful in getting the two men convicted and charged with what they had done, but getting back the money that had effectively been stolen from Tim was another matter entirely and this was where Gibbs uncertainty lay, this after all was the area of the investigation Tim would normally handle for the team, this time however Gibbs knew that Vance was relaying on Ziva and Tony with help from the cyber unit where needed, Gibbs just had to hope it was going to be enough.

The loose of sunlight was the only indication to the Gibbs as to what time of day it was. Ducky had left sometime back promising to return and check on Tim in the early evening, if everything was still looking positive Tim would be release in the morning. More than likely Ducky's return would be around the time when Tony and Ziva would be visiting for the day as Gibbs knew that Vance wouldn't let them out of headquarters until he was satisfied with their reports, so hopefully that would mean he'd get answers to his concerns also.

There was a light tap on the door and Gibbs turned to see Chuck Wilson standing in the door way.

"Jethro." Chuck greeted, as Tim stirred in his bed.

"Chuck." Gibbs returned the greeting noticing how Jackson was standing just behind the other man "So this is what you've been up to dad."

"Thought it was only fair Leroy." Jackson answered as he nudged Chuck from behind to get him moving into the room.

Tim was awake enough to realise someone else was in the room, but still a little too groggy to successfully find the remote he was using his free hand to search for as he tried to manoeuvre himself into a better position to sit up.

"Here let me do that." Gibbs offered as he took hold of the remote and pressed the button to get the bed moving, whilst with his free hand he supported Tim by the shoulder, Once the bed was raised to the angle which the doctors were currently allowing Gibbs busied himself with sort out the bedding and the pillows as he question "Better?"

"Yeah, thanks." Tim replied shyly, to which Gibbs just shook his head with a bemused smile on his face, before turning his attention to Chuck and greeting the man. "Mr Wilson."

"Think that should be Uncle, don't you?" Chuck Wilson replied before shaking his head. "My god, how I didn't notice it when I last saw you I don't know."

"You weren't exactly looking for it Chuck" Jackson replied

"No I wasn't" Chuck agreed, Tim shifted nervously as Chuck continued to on "But look at him, I can see my sister and my father in him."

"You can?" Tim questioned, he knew Jackson had said about his eyes and hair being the same colour of his mother's but he had wondered if Jackson had just been saying that.

"I can." Chuck confirmed with a smile as he sat on the edge of the bed. "And I know I wasn't looking for it Jackson, but I knew my sister married a man called McGee, the surname should have at least registered."

"McGee's a fairly common name." Tim offered up as an easy excuse.

"Yes, well never mind that now, nothing we can do about it anyways. What I want an answer to is what all this business with you having no money? What's happened to all the payments I make into the account that my father set up for you?" Chuck questioned.

"What account?" Tim responded, the look on his face telling all of those present that he had no idea what Chuck was talking about

"The trust fund of course." Chuck replied as if it was obvious, as Gibbs started reaching for his phone.

Vance, Fornell and Balboa stood in the observation room watching as Admiral McGee paced back and forth, his hands still in the cuffs behind his back, Fornell had taken great pleasure in telling the man the cuffs were going to stay on, when the Admiral had demanded them to be removed. The idea had been to let the man cool his heels for a while but even after an hour the Admiral was still ranting on about the ineptitude of federal agents and how he was going to make NCIS a laughing stock when this was all over.

Tony and Ziva slipped through the door and Ziva hand Vance yet another file, the man himself raising a questioning eyebrow.

"I asked the cyber unit to keep digging for financial information on the Admiral, there is another account linked to the undeclared one, also not on anything the Admiral has recorded. This one had a lot more history than the one Tony and I tracked down earlier." Ziva informed.

"I'm interested." Fornell informed, as he wasn't able to see the evidence Vance was looking at from where he was standing.

"Four regular payments of two thousand dollars a year paid in for the first twenty one years of the account, that amount increased to twenty thousand dollars per credit after that, with the last payment made three weeks ago."

"How much?" Balboa questioned, everyone knew he was asking for a total figure.

"Total paid in $648,000" Tony informed "Total in the account, thanks to interest nearly a cool million dollars"

Fornell whistled before asking what the three more senior agents all wanted to know "Paid in by?"

"Wilson Mining Co-operation." Ziva replied, when the others looked at her blankly Ziva continued "Chuck Wilson, Tim's uncle is the managing director of the company"

"A trust fund for his nephew until he turned twenty one, then the increase properly represented his share of the company profit." Vance theorised.

"Exactly" Tony responded with a grin "Chuck's been paying in eighty thousand dollars for the last six years, with help from the cyber guys we pull the company's financials, that amount is the dividend paid for a five percent share of the company."

"Five percent?" Fornell questioned stunned by the low percentage figure.

"Apparently that Chucks old man decided that because his daughters would all marry, they didn't need to be heavily supported financially by the mining company and were each given a large sum of money on their wedding day instead. He did set it up that his grandchildren would all benefit to a maximum of five percent each upon turning twenty one, this meant that Chuck would always have the largest controlling percentage, luckily for us Chuck Wilson has honoured this arrangement since he took over the company fifteen completely years ago."

"Not just for us Tony." Ziva pointed out.

"Yeah, Probies about to become one very rich man." Tony replied bouncing on his heals as he grinned.

"I think it's time we asked the Admiral some questions." Fornell stated.

"I couldn't agree with you more Fornell." Vance replied as he made his way to the door of the observation room as he looked at Tony and Ziva. "You two get going, but not a word to McGee about this until it's all resolved."

"Can't we stay and watch?" Tony questioned.

"No you can't and you better not let Gibbs know that this is being done without him either." Vance warned.

"He will not be happy." Ziva pointed out.

"I'll deal with that later, right now I don't need him losing his cool and this case being thrown out on a technicality, is that understood." Vance quantified his stance.

"Understood Director." Tony replied.

"Yes sir." Ziva replied.

"You coming Fornell?" Vance questioned.

"Wouldn't miss it Director." Fornell grinned making it to the door as his phone rang.

Gibbs had left Tim's room briefly to make the call from the waiting room, just as he closed his phone Chuck also slipped out the room, neither of them noticed that the door didn't click shut.

"They're looking into it." Gibbs informed without acknowledge Chucks presences, after a few minutes when the man in questioned hadn't responded Gibbs turned to look at him.

"Think we need to have a chat." Chuck informed when Gibbs looked at him questioningly.

"About?" Gibbs asked guardedly, after all he and Chuck weren't exactly on the best terms.

"Look you and I, we didn't get on as kids growing up and that incident couple of years back, well I think we both could have handle that better."

"What you trying to say Chuck?" Gibbs questioned.

Chuck stuck his hand out. "We're family now, let's put the past behind us and move on, for Timothy's sake."

Gibbs took a moment to think over what the other man was saying before accepting the offered hand. "Fine, but I'm warning you as his brother you hurt him in any way you'll be answering to me."

"Wouldn't have it any other way." Chuck replied before continuing with his own warning. "Same applies to you, though I am his uncle after all."

"Glad you two can finally agree on something." Jackson's voice drifted in from behind Chuck, both younger men turn their attention to the older man, to find him standing in the open door way, meaning that Tim would have heard the conversation too.

Busted the two walked back in the room together, Gibbs going straight to Tim's side wrapping his arm around his shoulder. "Nothing for you to worry about Tim."

"No nothing at all." Chuck agreed, before he decided to distract Tim. "Now Jackson here tells me you went to MIT, never had a graduate in the family before."

"It's really not that exciting." Tim informed.

"Nonsense." Jackson retorted, as he remember the story Tim had told him about when he been in Stillwater. "Don't go putting yourself down Tim, tell your Uncle about the time when..."

Gibbs smiled as his father and Tim's uncle distracted continued to distract Tim from the case, his gut was churning and but he couldn't quite put his finger on why he was sure however that Tobias hadn't told him something, as the man didn't sound that surprised when he heard about the trust fund.

"He knows about that account." Fornell informed Vance in a low voice, closing his phone the pair made their way into the interrogation room, Vance nodded indicating he had heard the comment but didn't question how Gibbs knew.

"Well it's about time!" McGee practically shouted from where he stood on the opposite side of the room.

"Sit down Admiral." Vance stated as he indicated to the chair which would put the man directly in line with the mirror to the observation room.

"You can't tell me what to do." McGee spat back angrily. "You're nobody, just like everyone else in this pathetic organisation."

"I happen to be the Director of this pathetic organisation." Vance informed in a voice that indicated he wasn't in the mood for games or prepared to take any nonsense from the man in front of him, before his voice rose to a commanding level. "Now I will say it one more time only. Sit. Down. Admiral."

McGee stood still for a moment challenging the order and the pair had a silent standoff which Vance won when the Admiral complied and sat down, Vance silently sent up a prayer in thanks for all the practise he had gotten from his stand offs with Gibbs.

"Thank you." Vance said as he and Fornell sat down opposite the man.

"Now Admiral you've got some explaining to do..."
